    Great video as always, never used to do much to my recurves other than tuning and silencing now I’m sanding and refinishing grips, tweaking string silencer positions, and testing multiple string and arrow combinations and wow just wow was I missing out on so much my recurves are silent and deadly accurate ! Thank you for all the help and insight keep bringing the knowledge brother.

    Jeff: you’re not running the Bear arrow rest. Opting for off the shelf. Is that purely to do with hitting where you’re pointing? Or have you gone off rests?
    Another great video!

    Hi Jeff, great informative vid as always. I have a question I hope you can help me out with. So I have a Spyder XL 64 and have 2 different limbs for it (29lb and 50lb). My question is what spine shafts should I get for the 50lb limbs which I haven't shot yet. I plan to use Gold Tip Warrior shafts and 250gr point weight. My draw length is 29 3/4" and carbon to carbon shafts I shoot is 30". So with my draw length I'm guessing my bow is actually 54lbs. Do you think I should get 400 or 340 spine shafts for the 54lb? Thanks Jeff

    I have a question. I’ve hunted with a compound 27 years and have been considering trying a traditional setup. Anyways, if I’m a 29” draw with compound does that translate to a 29” draw for long bow or recurve??

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  6 дней назад +2

      @@ET-sp6qm No, you’re going to be at least 1” shorter draw with a recurve or longbow maybe a little more and the number one thing you must be willing to do is start out at least 20 pounds lighter than your compound which will still feel pretty stout but it’ll allow you to develop muscle groups you don’t use now and also develop a consistent shot process that works for you plus the fact that you’re going to find yourself shooting constantly with a traditional bow lol

    I have a SAS Maverick and man, that Sanlida looks identical to my Maverick. Good vid as usual though. My only gripe is I've watched Jeff shoot dozens of bows and they all were tack drivers just the same as his Black Death in this vid. Doesn't matter what he shoots because he'll set it up to his own specs and it will shoot fantastic.

    I bought one of the Royal X8's myself, because of your review earlier this year. I found the tiller to be off just like you mentioned and corrected it. I spent the time to tune it with the arrows. I learned a lot in the process, and I'm very happy with the results. Mine's a 40lb @ 28" model, and I draw 28". My arrow choice is the Gold Tip Traditional shafts in 500 spine, their final length is 28¾". I use 100gr brass inserts and 200gr heads. I had a chance to try it out from my foodplot treestand, which is 22' up at its base. I shot from 15 to 30 yards at oak leaves and was able to hit or move the leaves with every shot! I couldn't believe how quiet it was! I opted to install threaded inserts into the riser and use a detachable 4 arrow quiver. I've checked it thru a chronograph for kicks and found it shoots @155~158fps. I really like the end product, that my customized Royal X 8, has become! Keep up the great videos!

    Question? Or maybe video idea? I pick up Grayling Mi bows when I see them come up for sale. My question is now that I’ve found your channel the traditional bug has really bitten me hard. I’m going to use my compound for this season but I want to switch over for next year hopefully giving me a chance to get comfortable by bow season next year. Hopefully I transition well I grew up shooting instinctive with compound bows for probably 15 years then the technology grabbed me and for the last 20 years I’ve had all the bells and whistles. I really want the challenge of ground hunting with traditional equipment. So the question is should I set up one of my Grayling bows to hunt with or should I invest in newer equipment. All the grayling bows are recurves. And I thought if I bought a new bow I would get the Montana or Au Sable. Are the older bows ok to shoot? Are they prone to damage because of the age of the epoxy or fiberglass? Anyone’s input is welcomed. Feel free to give me your 2 cents. I’ve done all my own setups with compound and feel comfortable setting up the bows with new strings I’m assuming. Most of my concerns are if I’m hurting a bow I would like to keep and pass down. I don’t mind use and maybe a scratch from use but I’m just worried I may ruin them. Thanks in advance.

    Speaking of cheap bows. My oldest son needed a takedown for a hunt he has to fly to out of state. I suggested the Toparchery 56" Aluminum Riser TD recurve. The bow had a bad review several years ago from Kramer Ammons. At any rate it cost 69 bucks. It shoots great. Myself and another hunting buddy ordered us one instantly. Will it be my main bow? Nope, but I will carry it as a backup on out of town hunts.

    My sas maverick with black glass is the sanlida. My maverick in 45 “clear glass” is extremely close to a bear grizzly. My October mountain smoky mountain hunter is a sammick sage… If the copycat bow company’s use the same specs, wood, glue, glass etc, is there really a difference? My October mountain mountaineer, the mountaineer dusk, the ragim raven longbow which is very close to a hill inspired bow with a dish grip, the black hunter, my fleetwood Yukon, ALL perform as expected. The one bow that gave me problems is the bear ausable. The shelf is not radius as advertised. The flat shelf angles towards the sky at full draw. It is 65.2 inches long not 64… with a 700 dollar bow, I should not have had to fix those issues. When you buy anything, the quality should be excellent regardless. I don’t understand why people expect bad quality with foreign country’s. I’ve had NO issues with foreign bows. Not everyone in other country’s is a communist. Not everyone wants to steal your money. And when you limit what you purchase because of misconstrued beliefs, you limit YOURSELF and your POTENTIAL. Maybe that foreign made bow will be perfect for you and you’ll shoot your best. But you missed out because you’re above foreign made bows and “dang nabbit chiner!!” Get a handle on it people! Get out of that box! The world is huge and there is too much to do with so little time
