Hi! Doula in the UK. May I suggest that your partner helps pack your birth bag, so that they can find things, without saying “Where did you put the.....?”
🤣🤣 exactly. I love this comment ❤
This is so smart! Thank you!
Lololol my husband would still 😂
Great idea!!
I absolutely love this suggestion, Thank You!!! My husband can never find anything, but this time I'll supervise and have him pack it!!
I've had my bag packed for many weeks. I'm 36 weeks and I just reopened my hospital bag to check for what i missed. And i missed nothing. I planned weeks ahead 😅 thanks for this video. I have literally unpacked and repacked my bag like twice this pregnancy. And i now feel i got it all down for sure after watching this. With my first i threw eberything together last minute and missed alot of things.
I also make sure to pack chapstick and nasal spray, hospital air can be so dry. A stuffy nose is no fun during labor.
Sarah, I’m a community doula in the Bay Area! I recommend your videos to all my clients. Keep up the good work. ❤️
Awww thank you so so much that means everything to me!
The Bay Cali or Florida?
@@LsLaBoniTa Cali :)
@B.M Skinner I need a doula so badly .... reply my comment so we can have each other info
Nathalia Frizeiro yeah email me at Doulabriannas@icloud.com
This is the most basic list of necessities lol! Girls, take a heating pad, some roll on icy hot, your own/preferred stool softener or fiber supplement, cheap flip flops, a bag for any soiled personal items and.... thats all I could gather at the moment but, the heating pad and icy hot were a life saver for me. Seriously.
Some lady (not a medical professional) on TikTok was mad because people “steal” the supplies the hospital provides. Like no lady, they are YOURS once they enter your room.
Yes and they throw it away if you don’t get it
Oh Sarah, I wish you were a nurse at the hospital I'm going to deliver at. You've been my video angel through this whole pregnancy and wish your positivity could be there with us on the big day!
I’m watching this while nursing my one month old little man & just wanna say thank you for all of your videos. I watched so many before having him & still randomly remember tips you’ve given for breast feeding and it’s been so helpful. Thank you so much for such great content 🙂
I’ve been binge watching all her videos because I’m due in 2 weeks(June 29). When I saw this notification I got so excited!💖 I can’t wait to update.
Omg I’m due June 30th!! Congrats girl💕
Same to you girl!🤩
I'm due on 30th June. Can't wait to meet my little man.
Pauline Simon Congrats! I’m also having a boy💙
Me binge watching Sarah's every video in preparation for my second birth. Because I didnt feel confident and prepared the first time around. I love this content and especially appreciate no judgment here for such personal decisions as birth preferences. You are the best Sarah! Thanx!!!
I had a very fast labor. My contractions started at 4am on May 16th. They become 5 minutes apart, 30 seconds long at 8am. By 10am, my contractions were less than 3 minute apart and almost a minute long. I was absolutely howling in pain when we left for the hospital at 10:30am. I was 6cm dilated when we arrived to triage. They rushed me up to a delivery suite. I moved through transition in 20 minutes. I pushed 3 times and my son was born at noon. It was intense. I had NO time to set up a calming birth environment with lights and music.😂😂
I love how simple and straight forward this packing list is! I've seen so many packing lists that require three different bags, labour, postpartum, baby, and maybe a separate one for the partner. As a minimalist (but thorough) packer this was refreshing. P.S. great cameo from your momma! Sending good vibes to your sister for her birth.
This is my girl ❤️😻
I’m in tears right now 😢❤️. I’m 34 weeks pregnant with baby boy #3. Everyone is kind of just like I’ll be ok and I got this, but this is the first time that my full support system won’t be there (my mom in law). My husband has always had the luxury of kind of sitting back and just holding my hand really, because his mom has had 5 kids of her own, plus is the family go to doula for having babies lol ❤️. So she’s experienced and is great at what she does. Due to covid, she won’t be there and I’m so nervous. I have been really trying to talk to my husband about what I need him to do and stressing the importance of his support because I want to go natural again. I don’t think it’s fully set in with him yet though. Needless to say, Your videos are really helping put me at ease and feel more in control and I’m so happy I found them❤️🙌🏽. Keep helping women everywhere! Your doing so good! God bless you!
This is my first time with no family support too.
I'm having my first baby next month, and I'm really nervous too. I wanted my mom there since she's had 6 kids, but she wont be allowed. My husband wont even be allowed to leave our room at the hospital and I have to wear a mask while pushing. I want to go drug free, and I'm terrified. I hate Covid.
I’m so sorry, love! I’m in the same situation, having to choose between my support person and the father of my child(who unfortunately doesn’t really have the kind of energy to calm me in stressful situations..)
I feel so bad having to choose between my support and his experience. Covid 19 sucks so much!!
Official Natalie Roché Yeah, I’m trying to figure out how things are going to go without a support person. My husband is going to stay home with the kids and our other family members are high risk, so I am going to be depending on the nurses.
hippiechick73 Just remember women are so strong, and you’re going to get through it and be home with your new baby and your family before you know it. I’m sorry you’re facing this tough situation and I hope you’ll still be able to have a pleasant experience bringing your lil baby into the world!
I'm due 9/17 & I'm so thankful for your videos. I found you 2-3 years ago & you've helped sooth me with during my last 2-3 pregnancies. ♥
I'm more than 2weeks postpartum and I'm still binge watching these videos 😅
Feels like it's a birthday party list. Lights, snacks, cloths etc😜 yet wonderful.
PERFECT timing, I have gone through my hospital bag 3 times since packing it 😂
This was super informative and so sweet. You're such a great doula and all that birth worker knowledge with sister enthusiasm is such the sweetest thing.
I’m due a week from today, perfect timing!
Yaaasss I can start prepping my hospital bag.. I’ve other videos and know it was a little much to take 3 suitcases of stuff so this puts me at ease!! Thank you!!
Sarah you're truly a godsend thank you so much for the videos.
Definitely needed this video today! 37 weeks on Monday!
40 weeks + 6 days waiting for my little buddle of joy is making my nerves go crazy....but i think im mostly just way to excited to be a 1st-time-Mom....and i was watching Sarah's "All About Contractions" video and I had to pause a few times because my contractions started to get intense meaning i'm in labor which i was kinda not expecting so fast
My due date is 12 august, and I’m first time mom so I basically watch ur video every night before bed. Your knowledge is insane , you give me so much tips and information. Love ur work so much😍😍😍😍
Awwww thank you!
I watch all the old videos lol this is my first time watching a new video .
Same
I repack my bag like 20 times before each child lol
Kristen Fisher 😂😂😂😂 same here dear. Am due in 28/7/2020. I arranged mine since 2 months ago right now am rearranging it again 🤦♀️🤪
@@Samantha-uz8xl yes ma'am same here
I'm due April 6th, but may deliver next week lol. Currently rearranging my bag and adding crap to it 🤣
FYI - some hospitals do require the carseat to be brought inside to be checked, mainly for expiration date. Some are also starting to require a car seat challenge test for babies, especially if baby was born preterm or you have a longer drive home. Best to call L&D and find out your hospital's policy.
Sarah, if one is having about 20 lose stools for 2days, does she need to go to the hospital
I LOVE your videos ❤️ I'm a first time mom (due in just 5 weeks) and I've been watching your videos throughout the past two years that I've been ttc. 🥰
Congratulations to your sister!!
Really loving your channel - practical and entertaining! One item that was super helpful for me was a folder to put all the paperwork the hospital gives you. I didn't really go over anything until I got home, so it was nice to know everything was in one organized place! :)
So helpful I’m 39 weeks today and I missed a few things so have to throw in some more things in my bag thanks so much 👍
Hey! LOVE your videos. Okay quick story but you made a video years ago in which you talked about women who want to give birth “naturally” and you made a point to say that there is a difference between coping and suffering. Your advice in that video helped me during my first child’s birth, when I knew I had a reached a point that I wasn’t coping anymore and was just suffering. Because of you I decided to get an epidural and didn’t feel like I had failed! It was so important to me that I didn’t feel like I had let myself down or “gave in”. So thank you ❤️. Also I really want to know when you will be putting your labor positions guide for sale on your website lol. I wanna buy it! 😂🙌
I just keep binging with my fingers crossed that I’ll need them sooner rather than later 🤣
Your so helpful 😍😌🌸 I can’t wait to meet my baby boy
That galaxy light is amazing!
Nipple cream i could not have gone without my first he had a good latch according to the nurses but for some reason my nipples cracked and bled so bad it was super super painful and putting breastmilk on was not helping at all the nurse saw it and brought lanolin cream and it helped so so much more
I agree. I tried to go the breastmilk route with my first… never again
Sounds so fun! I think you have wonderful ideas.
FYI as a nurse we aren't supposed to take present or gifts. The exceptions are food. Ive seen management go as far finding out and putting them in awkward situations were you give them back. Loop hole is food lol. Maybe the bottled coffee, donughts, stuff I use that.
Yeah, I've been seeing a lot of L&D nurses online telling people not to bring gifts -they can't accept them, it's against hospital policy.
Bing watching your videos as I’m almost 38 weeks and feeling like it’s about to happen ☺️
The birth deck by glow! Has affirmations and positions and different massage techniques with pictures and descriptions for “how to”
I’m35 weeks now so happy I found you!
Regarding Baby’s go home outfit.. I only packed 1 and he pooped in it before we went home. I really wish I packed 2 newborn sizes and 2 premie sizes.
37 weeks and 2 days i had no idea what to put in the bag, thank youuu
Love your content, thank you!!
Brilliant as usual x
Love your videos!!! Thank you!
Thanks for this resource!
Loved it! Great info, super simple list that anyone can use.
I'd like to say thank you, Sarah. My son is now 4weeks and I was induced for preeclampsia at 38weeks. Your videos were a few reasons that I was able to be as confident as I was through labor and delivery, etc. Considering it was a bit of a surprise.
Congrats to your sister and her husband on their new bundle of joy!
Awwww thank you so so much!
Love that you wore the pumping bra for most of the video!!! 🙌😂
Use packing cubes. One mom', baby, partner and snacks. Saw this tip on a different video and it makes sense to me
God bless you. Thank you so much for this vid. COVID-19 has changed everything!!
I watched your older video on whats in your bag as a doula, and brought some mood setting things like the string lights, assuming I'd be laboring a while since it was my first time.
Instead my little one came so quick that I'm scared to have another one in the future because I might not make it to the hospital in time!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
34 weeks and I can’t wait to be done!!
I definitely over packed for the baby and for me 🤦♀️ lol
Also pack shower flipflops and some slippers or comfy shoes while walking around the hospital floor.
I'm due June 23rd! Perfect timing lol
Same here! May we have a smooth and breezy labor! I’m having a girl! What are you having?
My shocking tip... don’t buy to many nursing bras ahead of time. I went up 3-4 full cup sizes over the first two weeks and stayed that big for the next year.... I started off as a D cup. Get the ones that have the built in sewn in pads!
So helpful!! Is there a particular kind of tape you use to hang the fairy lights and affirmation cards that the hospital will allow?
Great question actually! I just ask the nurse for her tape and use theirs!
By far the best hospital packing bag i have seen! Swear by - breast is best!
An extra, but not necessary, a desk humidifier. But I pack adult diapers because the mesh undies stretch out quick, a nursing gown for after, and a nursing tank a cardigan and a pair of comfy sweats to go home in.
Hey sarah what oils do u reccomend for labour could you link them please x
Something to keep in mind with food is the smell it might make in a small room like most labor rooms. Jerky is great until it smell up the room.
Oooh one of the first!!! Yay! Hi Sarah 😊
Hi!! 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
Good idea with the lollipops, just found out I'm hypoglycemic with this pregnancy!
I'm in Ontario Canada, love your videos, I'm hooked. My little Luna will be born in the spring. I wanna make sure she stays warm. Would a sweater be to much?
The galaxy projector is so cool! I want it! 😁. Thanks for this video! I’m 30 weeks and I want to start getting ready🤗. The discount code in you description expired on May 31st. Do you have a new code? ☺️
Oops! That was a copy and paste error 😆 no current promos but I'll post when there is! 💖
Pro tip you can totally wear depends diapers if you want to
Where’s the link for the lollipops???!! Currently packing my bag :-)
I love your videos but this packing list is sooo extra for a hospital delivery!
This is such a great video! I’ve watched so many videos of mamas taking EVERYTHING with them and then some. I love being simple and this made it so simple. THANK YOU!
The only thing I'm bringing for my husband is one of those muscle contractor machine thingys that allow men to feel the pain and contractions that women feel during labour 😂 who said they deserved snacks?!
This a question for your sister that was to long to ask on insta! How are your hormones/possible baby blues postpartum? How do you think it has affected the thoughts on your birth story? I'm only asking because my birth story probably sounds like a horror moive on paper, but I feel wonderful about the whole thing, mainly since I feel like my hormones/body is on my side right now.
Do you have any videos on breech babies and the ecv process?
Just go look
I wonder if the one-size-fits-all mesh panties they provide will work for me because I'm tiny. I've heard a few people say they were too baggy and would slip off. Trying to decide if I should pack a couple pairs of underwear or adult diapers that fit, just in case... (I'm like a size M but I was a size S before pregnancy and I've not gained very much weight at all and might be back down to a S after the birth).
Would you make any modifications if you will only be going to the hospital as a transfer from a home birth? I’m hoping for a VBAC at home, but if we transfer for whatever reason, we would be looking at a repeat c-section and I feel like that would change what I’d need in my bag with me! I plan to pack one this time, but I think I might be over thinking it! Help!
Ok the comfort items like lights and candles. That's just more to bring and deal with. Eh
Your partner is there for that and more! Comfort isn't necessary but it sure is nice, and I know my fiance wouldn't complain about packing/unpacking a few candles or a few HUNDRED if it brought me some peace during labor. Any decent partner would feel the same.
@@csilkins8485 comfort is highly necessary!!!!!! Being uncomfortable and not at ease during labor makes it harder. Bring whatever you want to bring that makes it more comfortable for you. She’s a professional for a reason not yiu
Can someone tell me where I would get a small duffle u can roll up like she mentioned in the video? Thanks!
Do you have a separate video for the IMPORTANT things to bring.
Sarah, what do you think about labouring at home? for as long as I can. I spoke with my ob but she is not soo happy about it. I have somewhat high BP, on meds for it but I feel going to the hospital would stress me more. Someone said that's dangerous so I am so stressed out now. I am due in 4 weeks. Your opinion would really help
I labored for 46 hours at home. It was fine.
Hi can you make a video on room temperature for babies and what should they wear. I’m worried that I’m like going to over heat him or he’ll be too cold 😭
I’m due August 28th but prob gonna start packing soon anyway cause I’m extra 😂
Right! I’m due Aug 31 & I’m the same way 🤣
Just for curiosity sake, is your sister delivering in Canada or the US? I'm pregnant with babies 2 and 3 and honestly I have found so many of the packing lists you find online don't take into account a) how things go in Canadian hospitals and b) needing clothes and supplies when you live 2 hours plus from your hospital and get sent away from the hospital in labor but told you cannot go home. If I had not "over packed" with my son we would have been so screwed as this is exactly what happened to me in the middle of the night. Much love and thanks for the amazing videos!!!!
Me over here just lol'ing at all of these labor aids! What is it like to be able to actually labor in the hospital and have time to set any of this stuff up?! But really. I need tips/tricks for how to not get overwhelmed during fast labor. Have you worked with many mamas who go through labor lightening fast?! My first labor was 6.5 hours but I was in triage for over two hours so they literally admitted me, gave me an epidural, I sat there for an hour, and then pushed for an hour and had my kid. So there was no mood! But also I was losing my mind and my feelings of confidence and control during my incredibly uncomfortable TRANSITION LABOR in triage. Gah. I'm just anticipating an even quicker labor (I'm guessing my first would have been 5-5.5 hrs w/o the epidural), and it seriously stresses me out of how will I even get to the hospital ugh. Any tips for quick-labor mamas appreciated. I'm honestly contemplating having them break my water in the hospital just so I'm freaking in the hospital already and don't need to worry about it 😭
Even her list is too much for me, but still good! I’m pregnant with my 6th so I already know what works for me. Basically for labor room; phone, charger, snacks for dad, something to entertain dad (book, switch), and chapstick.
Postpartum; nightgown, loose clothes for home (for dad too), some toiletries, one baby outfit and blanket. I do make goody bags for all my nurses. But that’s it.. the hospital gives you everything else.
Help! I see on your awesome Amazon list 2 different galaxy projectors, but neither of them have that INCREDIBLE image of the milky way. Do you still have the brand or a link? Thank you!!
Do u have a homebirth checklist vid? ❤
What galaxy light is this ? The one in your Amazon store doesn’t look like the one in this video ?
😫😫😫😫😫😭😭🤣🤣 I packed a separate bag for baby.
I packed ready to feed formula even though I plan to exclusively breastfeed
Multiple outfits for baby
Pacifiers
Wipes
Omg so much stuff 😭😭😭😭🤣
FTM don't judge me lol
FTM so I am paranoid.
I did the same thing with my first child. We even brought the stroller into the hospital room.
Where is your birth preferences video? I'm not finding it . Your awesome
When do you start to preparing the hospital bag...?
In El Paso, Texas and my nurse recommended your Instagram page and your RUclips! And I’m grateful she did!
Do I need a nursing bra or can I go without? I can’t find one in my size (44I).
I dont like bras because I have fibromyalgia and they hurt me. I found some nice nursing/maternity tank tops. The sort that you just pull down, no clips. I'm wearing them now during pregnancy so I know they are comfy.
Check out figleaves nursing bras! I am a 36E and it took me forever to find a nursing bra that would actually fit me!
What about when it is winter
1.Have you ever had your clients use the silicon milk catchers?
2. Do you offer tens units to help with control pain with the beginning stages of labor. I have watched
Others referencing the gateway control theory?
Your sister is so lucky to have you hahaha
Do you have any videos on pros and cons for Covid vaccine while pregnant breastfeeding and booster shots while pregnant or breastfeeding
What were the lollipops? 🍭 adding to my bag lol
It’s the comfortable pumping bra for me 😂
With many pregnancy now I jus do one outfit for self and partner and baby. And charger that’s it. Everything else hospital have and I just pack in a backpack done 😆 don’t need 90% of that but that’s if u really want lol. Maybe snacks but even that’s just too much packing.
Should I bring lollipops if I have Gestational Diabetes?
I got such a rash from the mesh panties. Just saying, the material doesn't fit all, even if the size does. 😅 I'd recommend getting some cotton granny panties just in case, that way, if you have a c-section, the elastic doesn't hurt the wound. 😊
