You just never know how your body will progress with labor! With both of my labors (2015, 2019), my water broke very early on so I was in the hospital for hours, but labor was pretty slow and manageable up until the last couple hours. I was barely dilated with both (2-3cm?), but in the last 1-2 hours, I progressed to 10cm. Good luck expecting mamas!
Why 200+ dislikes? She is 100% accurate. The reason I had a homebirth (which eventually I'd never regret) is that these things are not always happening in hospitals.
This is amazing! Thinking about how advocate for myself is really difficult and this was so empowering to know what questions to ask and when to push back. Thank you!
I was a full term, uncomplicated first pregnancy, but my fluid was at a 2 so I was sent to be induced. Wasn’t progressing so they broke my water and I had a c section. The baby’s head and shoulder were stuck low and he was face up. In getting him out an artery was ruptured. Went back into surgery and had a blood transfusion and was transferred to a larger hospital. I am grateful that I’m here and even more grateful that he’s here. He was 6lbs 7 oz.
First time mom here! I’m 38+3...I absolutely love your videos! Very informative...I absolutely love your personality! You are so passionate and caring! I pray I don’t have to have a c-section.

Maybe the thought gets changed when you go through labor. Birth is indeed beautiful and a blessing which only lucky people have that chance.. but labour pains are quite a different subject. 😅
Seriously thank you so so so much for all these videos and the extra info that I am sure is in a book somewhere but your explanations are so clear and well put in layman’s terms!
1. Control your weight as much as you can (exercise, only 300 calories extra you need, Watch your types of calories) 2. Have continuous labour support 3. Labour at home-wait to go to hospital 4. Move around-change position frequently 5. Induce at 41 weeks 6. Intermittent monitoring instead of continuous monitoring 7. Ask for more time-wait 8. Give some pushback if you are not 6cm dilated 9. Push your little heart out-don’t hold back 10. Have the convo with the doctor Knowledge is power Bonus 11. Ask about & purse an external cepalic version 12. Find a provider that deliver vaginal twins 13. Trust your body - let go
i gained the recommended weight gain for my BMI pre-pregnancy already so im just trying my best to stay at this weight level, now that I have 10more weeks to go!
I did everything she suggested and ended up needing a c section then infected scar then mastitis finally a hyperthyroidism related to pregnancy and now after six month I’m pregnant again pray for me ya all
I think it’s fantastic that you are such an advocate for natural birth! But for anyone that is worried if they do end up with a c section they really aren’t all that bad! I had one due to my health reasons and it was fantastic I got up by myself that evening and was allowed to go home the next afternoon! Healed up really well and I only took paracetamol which is shocking as I have no pain threshold 😂 maybe I just got very lucky but now I wish I hadn’t wasted my energy being so scared. I was so disappointed in myself at first but now I feel like it was perfect. Don’t sweat it mamas you got this!

Congratulations on such a blessed family. Ours is growing and the negative comments are too common (latest was, "You're crazy"). Mine were also natural and the babies have all had Apgars of 9 or 10. I have Hubby, Sister, and great nurses to thank for getting me through labors.
I’m kind of upset I didn’t have this information sooner.. I had my first baby in 2014 and didn’t dilate past 6 centimeters and was put in for a c section but I also wasn’t given a birthing ball or anything to help I was just lying in the hospital bed. Now I am 4 months pregnant with baby number 2 and praying for a successful v-back in June 2020 almost 6 years later and this will be very useful thank you so much!
I had a C-section with my last child, and my OBGYN told me that I'd HAD to have another one now that I'm pregnant again. She scared me by telling me that I was at risk for uterine rupture, and I couldn't sleep for days. I kept picturing my baby moving inside, and every time I thought I was about to bleed to death. I was terrified. I was so overwhelmed with fear, that I was seriously considering an abortion. Doctors need to stop forcing C-sections just to avoid overlapping patients. My last C-section was performed by a doctor who ran out of the delivery room BEFORE he stitched me up. He left an INTERN there to finish his job. People have trust issues with doctors for this very reason. Most, if not all of them seem to get into the field just for the paycheck. I haven't found a decent one yet.
Don't let fear into your mind, speak possitive things to yourself, lay your hands on your baby and declar what you want. The last thing a pregnant mummy needs to have is fear! Be possitive and let nothing take that from you
Uterine rupture is so extremely unlikely. Stick to your guns and go for a VBAC. These doctors don't look at the statistics. I've done so much research because I'm doing VBAC and don't have the support of my current prenatal care provider. They want to cover their own butt and not give you a trial of labor. It isn't whats best for you or baby. Don't let anyone tell you to do something you don't want to. Get a doula or find support online and change providers.
My first pregnancy I gained like 60 pounds eating junk I was a teen. I had fast delivery about 3 pushes baby was out. My baby was healthy I breast feed and the weight melted off with out me trying. We are all different wish everyone luck! I’m on my 2nd now!
The first childbirth class that is currently not cancelled at my hospital is 1 week after my due date 😅😂😭 Thank God for all the youtube nurses! Thank you for these videos!
Not about to have kids any time soon here but loooove watching these, it's so detailed (and scary) but rather prepare now than later when I'm in the labour room lol!🤣👏👏💓💓
Please make a video about things I can buy and put in my hospital bag that will help me heal after delivery. I live in the UK and we normally have to buy things.
Thank you so much for putting the weight gain recommendations in your description. My dr had told me with my first she wasnt be to gain 35-45. I gained 32lbs (not including the 20lbs I lost and gained back) Then with my second she wasnt so concerned but I only gained 6lbs 4oz (and my baby weighed more than that). This time I've gained about 22lbs, the bulk of that in the first 18wks and only gained about 2lbs from 18-29
I'm 34 weeks and I've never been as scared of anything as I am of labor & delivery. And that's really saying something because I've been through some seriously scary things. I think I know why, but I have even more fear about this than most first time moms, like, significantly more. I'm just praying everything goes as smoothly as possible. 😨😨😨
it's going to be ok! Take a class and hire a doula and make sure your care team knows how scared you are. I pray you will be so surprised by how amazing it is.
How did it go? I am terrified. And honestly believe no one has the lowest pain tolerance than me. I also have been through some insane stuff but giving birth terrifies me like nothing else in life. Due in 9 weeks. 🤞🏿🤞🏿
Thank you!! I love this information so much I really appreciate you. Baby number two for me and I like to be absolutely ready for anything. I do have an amazing natural midwife & birth center but I just to be drenched in as much info to back up trusting my intuition and my body as much as I can. MUCH love.
I really enjoyed this video. I'm 31 weeks with baby #6. I've never had a cesarean before but I know it's a possibility. Alot of points you made actually reminded me of my sister in law. With her first she pushed for 3hrs and delivered her 9lb 3oz daughter vaginally without tearing or an episiotomy. Then with her second she also pushed for 3 hours and delivered a 9lb 2oz baby boy vaginally without tearing or an episiotomy. It may take a while to get a larger baby out but it can happen. I hate when I hear stories of women being pushed into unnecessary cesareans
I wish I’d found you when I was pregnant but this video was still so interesting to me. I did not have a c-section but a friend of mine recently did because her baby was “big” (9 lb 6 ozs) and her dr kind of scared her into it by telling her the baby had a 25% chance of getting stuck and they would have to push him back in and then do the c-section. My doctor, on the other hand, was ALL about avoiding a c-section and I was able to have a vaginal delivery with a 9 lb 3 oz baby. I am so glad, after watching this, that my doctor was actually my biggest advocate for avoiding a c-section and actually hadn’t even mentioned that my daughter was on the bigger side so I didn’t really have any worries at all about that while I was in labor.
Hi! I just found out I'm 8 weeks pregnant and with risk of miscarriage (I've been in pain and bleeding for a couple weeks). I also have Hypothyroidism. Would you be so kind as to make a video about what people with hormonal imbalances can do to prevent miscarriage? Or what to do to help the baby during the first and second trimester which are risky for women with Hypothyroidism? Thank you.
Hey Sarah! Thank you so much for all you do! Your videos are wonderful and full of useful information! ❤️ Kind of on the topic of c-sections, I was wondering if you are familiar with the phrase “pit to distress” in obstetrics. I’m not sure how commonly used and/or practiced it really is, but I do know that it is something that some doctors do. I’ve read tons of accounts from people online who were victims of this and even healthcare professionals who have participated in it. A friend of mine has an Auntie who is a retired nurse and she says she saw this happen behind the scenes all the time. It’s truly horrifying, and although it very well may be rare, I can’t believe something like that is ever allowed to happen! With you being a L&D nurse, just wondering if you’ve ever witnessed this practice or have any insight into why it happens. Thanks!
Obstetrics as a whole is like this. Every single intervention they use is dangerous and they know it. Scarcely will you find a hospital-based provider who practices evidence-based care or who truly want to avoid harm to mothers and babies.
All of your videos are sooo informative...keep up the good work and thanks alot☺ I'm expecting my first baby in july end this year and already feel like I know almost everything related to child birth..😀
I’m literally getting induced Friday! This is my 2nd pregnancy and I’m so scared I’ll end up having a c section even through my first was a vaginal delivery. But I feel like this definitely helped me feel so confident. Thank you! ❤️
Why are you scared of a c section? It's actualy very simple and straightforward. I went for an induction after a perfect pregnancy and while I was sitting there (literally nothing had happend I was waiting for sombody to canulate me) I was on the monitor and had been for over an hour. Suddenly her heart rate droped, they broke my water (through a closed cirvix ouch! ) it was clear at first but near the end went brownish as she had been so distressed she pooed. But by that time i was already been rushed into surgery, she came out blue, limp, not breathing as the cord had been very tight around her neck. Haveing a c section saved her life and it was super easy and quick. Now I still agree that a vaginal birth is the goal, but if you need one then you need one and they arnt as Scarey as they sound. 😊
Thank you so much for this information. I knew weight management was important, but I didn't realize it could stand in the way of the birth experience I want to have.
Wish I watched this for my baby born in March! He was my first, I pushed for 4.5 hours, was being prepped for a c-section but I wanted to keep trying because I never prepared myself mentally for a C-Cection, big mistake! Luckily, we tried a suction cup last second and it worked! I was so greatful! 💙
Most of the time I hear the doctors saying that the baby's heartbeat is dropping along with amniotic fluid and they do c-section How can we deal with this, how to prevent the falling heartrate in the last month of delivery ?
First time mom here! I'm being induced at 39 weeks.. which is tomorrow!! Lol I dont know what I'm gonna do when I'm not pregnant anymore, I love your videos! Keep up the amazing work!

I feel like not enough people know about these things. The information is definitely there though. Amazing video, great advice!! 👏
The ONLY video that actually even mentions to try laboring at home!! This is the greatest information and I will pass it along!!(: ♥️🙏👼✨😭
Why 200+ dislikes? She is 100% accurate. The reason I had a homebirth (which eventually I'd never regret) is that these things are not always happening in hospitals.
Thank you so much for this video! I feel so much more confident & in control! Btw you are hilarious & I absolutely love your energy💓
My husband and I arent even pregnant yet (believing in our miracle baby soon) but everything you're saying I'm like yasssss I love everything you're saying and your personality! So informative!!!
I’m glad you included #5 because I was literally JUST wondering why they induce labor.
This video taught me sooo much. I love how you teach women to be an advocate for themselves.❤
This video, the tips and your energy/encouragement are amazing!!
Honestly I'm only 15 but I think that pregnancy and birth is so beautiful, and I can not wait to have my own one day, and watching your videos open my mind so much about birth and I just enjoy your videos so much❤️
Some day!! 🤗🤗🤗 thanks for watching it IS beautiful!
Beautiful u say! Yaa, right
Maybe the thought gets changed when you go through labor. Birth is indeed beautiful and a blessing which only lucky people have that chance.. but labour pains are quite a different subject. 😅
Due in 7 weeks with my first. Your videos are actually so so helpful !! Thanks girl ❤️
Mee to!
Seriously thank you so so so much for all these videos and the extra info that I am sure is in a book somewhere but your explanations are so clear and well put in layman’s terms!
I’m new mommy and 37 weeks pregnant. This video helps me a lot. Thank you so much 😘
1. Control your weight as much as you can (exercise, only 300 calories extra you need, Watch your types of calories)
2. Have continuous labour support
3. Labour at home-wait to go to hospital
4. Move around-change position frequently
5. Induce at 41 weeks
6. Intermittent monitoring instead of continuous monitoring
7. Ask for more time-wait
8. Give some pushback if you are not 6cm dilated
9. Push your
little heart out-don’t hold back
10. Have the convo with the doctor
Knowledge is power
Bonus
11. Ask about & purse an external cepalic
version
12. Find a provider that deliver vaginal twins
13. Trust your body - let go
Thanks so much!
Thank you. Didn't want to watch the whole 20 minute video for nothing. And by reading the 14 things she said I know I would have wasted my time.
Thank you!!
This is helpful
I was going through whole comment section just to find this. thanks.
i gained the recommended weight gain for my BMI pre-pregnancy already so im just trying my best to stay at this weight level, now that I have 10more weeks to go!
Omg very Educative. Thanks for being agile, smart and not beating around the bush
Im 39+5 and all ive been doing is watching all your videos they are soo good thank you so much for the info 😚💗
Congrats! Im 39 and 6 days today! Good luck! 😊
39+5 as well, getting induced tonight :)
I like Sarah and watch a lot of her videos which I'm thankful for, very informative. I gotta admit there's something about this video though! I watched and watched and realized that she does not blink almost at all throughout the video. I understand that it's edited, but during the clips that she talks, she really doesn't blink! Now I'll go back to watching the rest of the video :)
Love the evidence based article!!! So helpful, gives me so much more confidence in what I preach to my family Hhaha
Thanks for this video. I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my first child. I have no idea what to expect
you are amazing! Glad I found your channel, I am not pregnant but learning a lot ahead of time, doesn't hurt :D
Love your enthusiasm and knowledge! Helpful video!
Excellent helpful video. Thank you!
And your hair and makeup is stunning! 💐
Thank you so much for this video. I'm 33 weeks so I'm trying to get as much knowledge as I can. Labor still makes me nervous but I'll be okay🙂
Yes you will momma!!
Hi i just gave birth to a healthy cute little boy 3 days ago with normal delivery without an epidural. Thank you so much for your videos! It helps me prep my knowledge and expectations on my delivery and it made the whole process a little bit easier for me. I watched your videos about dilation, induce labor, epidural, etc.. Keep it up and God bless! :)
Caroline Baldevia Awwwwww congrats momma!!! Thank YOU for watching!
@@sarahlavonne We just came home from the hospital. By the way, i got induced as I am already 40weeks and getting impatient to wait. Luckily the medicines have worked fast and i'm only in labor for 7hrs. During the whole process, i was conceptualizing everything I learned from your videos. lol Thank you so much again! :) Watching from Abu dhabi
Subscribed because of this video being good and the peeps in the comments saying the rest of your videos are bomb. I’ll be going on a binge of your videos and checking to see if I can afford a doula (and what they do exactly...) thanks for the info!
you explain everything so well! thanks for giving such helpful tips
Thank you for this video. I'm a first time pregnant mama, I really don't want to have a c-section
Awesome video! Thank you. So pathetic that we have to advocate for this stuff and can't rely on our medical teams to provide this simple, common-sense advice. Also, you are adorable--wish I were in LA.
I wish this video was around when I was pregnant & toward the end. Thank you for this information!!
love this video. thank you! FTM and I appreciate all of this information!
I'm due July 5th. I really needed this. Thank you so much!
yay!! congrats!! You're so welcome!
That’s my birthday!! Best of luck
Wishing you a great delivery and recovery 💜
Camyl Santos hey!!! That’s my birthday!!
You are my favorite person! 36 weeks with baby number 6- 5/6 vaginal non medicated- hopefully number 6 also 🙂birth with out fear- trust your body. Love your videos sooo much. Thanks I share them with every expectant mama.
You're the best and a pro! #6 will be just as perfect! xoxo
Congratulations on such a blessed family. Ours is growing and the negative comments are too common (latest was, "You're crazy"). Mine were also natural and the babies have all had Apgars of 9 or 10. I have Hubby, Sister, and great nurses to thank for getting me through labors.
I've never watched one of your videos, this is my first I've seen, and LOVED IT!!! You are so spot on. You give great advice to new moms!
I love watching your videos!!! I'm 37 weeks I wish I found you sooner! Thank you for sharing everything you do in your videos.
So glad! You are so welcome!
The first childbirth class that is currently not cancelled at my hospital is 1 week after my due date 😅😂😭 Thank God for all the youtube nurses! Thank you for these videos!
I am currently in the hospital getting induced right now. I’m so happy you posted this!
Change positions girl!! Yay!!!!! You got this!!
Congrats mama! Hope you're doing good! Have you delivered yet?
Hoping you have a safe delivery❤️
Not about to have kids any time soon here but loooove watching these, it's so detailed (and scary) but rather prepare now than later when I'm in the labour room lol!🤣👏👏💓💓
thank you so much sarah,im gonna tell this to my wife, she's a first time mom, xoxo!
Oh no, I was in LA about a month and a half ago, would have loved to take a class with you!
This time I've gained about 22lbs, the bulk of that in the first 18wks and only gained about 2lbs from 18-29
This video is GOLD
This sounds like a lot of talking to your doctor while you're in labour. Some doctors are so unpleasant and think they know everything.
im so glad you are speaking the truth! i knew they were NOT Good!
You are seriously amazing! Thank you for all your videos!
This is SO HELPFUL. Thank you!!!
Kind of on the topic of c-sections, I was wondering if you are familiar with the phrase “pit to distress” in obstetrics.
Wow thank you so much!!!! I’m only 25 weeks pregnant but watching your videos makes me feel so much better and that I can do this! 💓
Bc you can!!
I’m literally getting induced Friday! This is my 2nd pregnancy and I’m so scared I’ll end up having a c section even through my first was a vaginal delivery. But I feel like this definitely helped me feel so confident. Thank you! ❤️
Nah girl you got this!! Your body has done it before it will do it again!!
GOOD LUCK!
Good luck! I was induced with my first and it went perfectly! Have to be induced again this time
Why are you getting induced in general?
Imagine waiting to push when you're getting contractions every 1-2 mins 😂
Thank you so much for this information. I knew weight management was important, but I didn't realize it could stand in the way of the birth experience I want to have.
Wish I watched this for my baby born in March! He was my first, I pushed for 4.5 hours, was being prepped for a c-section but I wanted to keep trying because I never prepared myself mentally for a C-Cection, big mistake! Luckily, we tried a suction cup last second and it worked! I was so greatful! 💙
Most of the time I hear the doctors saying that the baby's heartbeat is dropping along with amniotic fluid and they do c-section
How can we deal with this, how to prevent the falling heartrate in the last month of delivery ?
Cervix dilates naturally when you eat dates in your last 4 weeks..daily. hugeeee difference with a smooth delivery.
Dates??
@@DeeJames1024 yes dates, the fruit. Infact its great during the whole pregnancy but especially best for the last month.
Yup. You're right. It's an eastern remedy.
Thank you. Might order some now!
I saw this posted somewhere recently!
First time mom here! I'm being induced at 39 weeks.. which is tomorrow!! Lol I dont know what I'm gonna do when I'm not pregnant anymore, I love your videos! Keep up the amazing work!
39 tomorrow as well, all the best
I'm relieved watching you.
C section have become a norm in most hospitals in Ghana.
I am pregnant right now this year 2019 with my sixth child and my experiences were just stay calm focus and definitely early labor at home
shity face I have back pain .... I am worried that when delivering my back pain too much . Does it happen?
shity face are you on government support?
DO YOU TAKE SHIT EVERYDAY?
@@brothertn708 why would that even matter?
Tahlia Waihape I’m only asking so I can get ready to support another one of her children 🙀🙀🙀
