I like that you use an old school journal! Good luck with your startup.
Congrats Jacob, the best thing that you show on every video it’s your passion, this is not only a startup but is what makes you feel “alive” and it’s pretty noticeable and awesome. Best of luck !
13:53 that feeling of building something sick is the best
Love to see your journey.
Keep going brotha! 🍾
bro is on fire! keep it up man, it's very inspiring
Congrats on your 34K subs! Your progress as a start-up really gave me the optimism to start building my app with my fellows in high school. Your life looks such a vibe~~
Been following your startup videos for a while, and let me tell you. You look obsessed with the process of creating Sub, which looks sick and motivating! Hope everything goes well this week!🔥✌
damn! good luck with it! hope you will succeed!
it’s amazing how fast you’re moving. how are you going about project management? user stories, kanban, etc..?
I had started working on my startup briefly before finding your channel, and I gotta say your videos definitely give me the motivation to keep going. I'll be joining the dev club soon and hope to share this journey of building our ticket to true freedom with you and others.
Hell yeah that’s awesome!!
People just want to find their people. Pretty awesome man!
Dude you have been an inspiration to continue my journey of self taught thank you for being you keep up and i wish you the best in life!!!!!
Keep it up! Loving the work!
Love seeing your success as a fellow kiwi! You've inspired me to dive into Scrimba too! Let's go!
So exciting to see this! This is history in the making with seeing a founder in the early days of creating his company. This is something we wish we could have had for other great founders but never had the capability or platform. We get to be a part of it in some way! Keep it up Jacob, Maddie and Hermie!🙂
Keep on crushing it, Jacob! Long days and nights ahead but it's going to be worth it. Take care of your mental, body and relationships during this hectic journey and you'll smash it!
LOVVEE this new oauth implementstion!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Another amazing video🫡🫡
Thank you sirrrrr 🫡🫡🫡🫡
I see the coding partner in the background behind vs code at 6:26 . So helpful to answer the questions I would otherwise be looking up, filtering through different search results, avoiding ads. Chat gpt is great in that regard
Im sick..... watching you while I would usually be at school is such a vibe😂😂
First time watching ur channel, good job man 💪
35K baby 🚀
I started in nocode now I’m getting ready to use actual code for my applications
Great video ❤
New desk location has been spotted. Third time is the charm 😅
This is so sick! Just found your channel and I've been BINGEING it!
I'd love to be able to see how many other users are in a paid community before I join!
Maybe creators could have that as an option to make visible for their signing up users or something?
Great idea!
Dev club to the moon! 🚀
Love you videos sir, personally as a dev they are motivation for ,e
Hi Jacob, you are crushing it with this start up series, really inspiring me man! Was wondering if you use a component library for your UI? Or do you just do custom tailwind? Big love from the UK.
A lot of custom! But also using shadcn
Re your auth flow - its still a bit harder.
So a simple solution for you ....
Create discord implemention that does it this way (which you have)
Which searches the discord server for the user and then sets it the way it should be.
The pro to this, is it could be run on a cron once a month to make sure no one is in the discord server with roles they should not have ...
For oauth, keep it - but just store their discord id.
Then trigger the above.
So if they are not in the server ... it does nothing - but if they are there, it sets their roles.
And if they join the server later, it will still trigger and resets the roles.
Also, if someone randomly leaves the server (accidental or whatever) when they re-join the roles are reset (automatically)
I feel that I've finally found my people within Jacobs Dev Club
LETS GOOOOOOOO
Subbbs going to the moon. gratz on 35k 🚀
I was in LP, Gran Canaria and found out they have an international community on Slack with 10k people :O
Lets get this bro-bean to 35k subs!
Could you give a high level talk through your archtiecture? Would be interesting to see how your approaching things in a big picture 🙂
When the going gets tough. The tough get going.
Could part of the discord roles bug have to do with any of the authentication for joining a server? Some servers have rules where your discord must be a certain age in order to talk or see certain channels? Or others require you to have a valid email in order to join the discord server.
Another potential problem in the future is if a subscriber loses access to their Discord or other account, will you allow them to somehow transfer that subscription over to a different account?
50 bucks for a yearly thing would be awesome. also like a 3 day free trial for read-only mode. other creators might also like it.
Watching the vid to know if you beat Pave in the office is a segment of your videos that I've been looking forward to every upload 😂
😂😂
35k now lets go
Let’s goooo
What’s the tech stack for subbb?
I have to say, I was a bit on and off with your content. But, ever since you were laid off and got the money to get your idea off the ground, you have me looking forward the next installment :) Great job, man!
Thanks legend 🤝
it's always better to use Discord OAuth, especially when you want to scale and make things more smooth in the long run. The older method could make sense in a handful of scenarios but not the general use case.
you look tired broo.. take a break for a week it's okay
Will do at some point!
Great job mate, just out of curiosity is it a coworking space or your startup office?
Coworking
yo! hope your startup becomes a big thing in the future. btw do u remember me?
mercury 🔛🔝
Broooo stoked on the progress. If you get $100M exit this channel will be legendaryyyy
Hahah let’s goooo
Another great video but I got one question. So I'm planning to do the same thing, like learn coding so I can create my own projects. I know a bit of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Would you recommend to first learn JS on a deeper level and then go over to React/Next.js or just learn Javascript while using React and Next.js? I'm planning to do an annual intership in the frontend space in around 2 months, so being comfortable using React would be really helpful.
Start doing a bit of JavaScript and then you can move to react. There’s some links to learn react in the video description too 💪🏼
@@JacobSucksAtCode i didnt expect that quick of an answer. thank you very much man!
From Brazil, I wasn't able to proceed to create a account, there wasn't Brazil in the "Select your Payout country". PS: I do have a US checking account, but since I don't have a Social Number, I can't proceed on Stripe :/
Tuff video
I'm going to start using "holy crabsticks" as a phrase :D
Their sub could generate a code that they can give to the bot so it will give them the role
I wanna know that what are the key differance between you product and skool? Why someone want start a community they need to chose your product?
Skool is an education platform, not ‘community’. Real community is a space where people feel like they belong and IMO that’s in live chat group spaces such as discord, slack, WhatsApp etc.
All you need now is, a solution architect who can design multi tenant architecture. 10:22
If you didn’t get done this now, you gonna rework multiple times bro.
Bruv, any insight into how to manage your channel?
Just start posting! 🚀
Bro, I cant log in my account, something is wrong about the auth page.
Nope, we did a big wipe of all inactive accounts 😁
13:24 What is the name of the program to manage the database?
DataGrip by JetBrains
TablePlus
@@justintimko6447 No
does pave have a key to the building or something ? 😂
Hahahah
Lesssss goooooo
Yesssssir
Jacob ❤, I wanna study computer science at Harvard university. What's your opinion in that 😊😊❤❤.
Please reply to my question ⁉️😌😁
If that’s what you wanna do, then do it!
@@JacobSucksAtCode yes , thank you so much, your videos give me motivation to keep going in programming and always code ❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰
I didnt read „nyc“ in the title hope youre okay
Hahaha
First comment from India
3:37 careful, this can breed an echo chamber of false positivity to a degree of hindering your growth. Negativity & healthy critique/debate aren't the same, the latter is good for you to build & grow ideas outside of your comfort zone. Too many creators can fall into this trap
I think it’s actually just called being nice ❤️
@@JacobSucksAtCode being nice costs nothing and is great, but don't assume anyone disagreeing with you is out to be nasty is all I'm saying, some of the best programmers i know hate people agreeing with them for the sake of politeness
Couldn’t agree more with this, toxic positivity is very real and ultimately holds people back.
Bro take a break for some days. You could use it.
But i really enjoy the vids
