- How to beat Outer Wilds without using the ship:
1 - Suit up
2 - Ride the Nomai mines geyser into space
3 - Land on the quantum moon
4 - Travel to the Hourglass Twins via quantum entanglement
5 - Land on Ash Twin
6 - Wait...
7 - [SPOILERS]
8 - Warp to Brittle Hollow
9 - Use Feldspar's spare fuel tank
10 - Run to the gravity cannon (conserve as much fuel as possible)
11 - Activate the cannon and jump in when it aligns with Dark Bramble
12 - Accelerate to about 300km/s to avoid running out of air (and mind your aim!)

Using the Quantum Moon as a ship is kinda brilliant.
Warning: very unreliable if your destination is the twins.
I do that on a regular basis whever either my ship blows up or I get bored of using the traditional methods of traversing space

Me: Oh cool is he going to use the gravity cannon after summoning the nomai ship?
Gawan: *What part of "no ship run" aren't you getting?* * Pulls a Doomguy and puts himself in the launching mechanism *
"You can't just shoot a warp core into the surface of dark bramble"- Riback
honestly, I like this more than probe launcher propulsion + sleep skips of modern speedruns
Thanks! You might like this other run: I fly to the Sun Station in the first minute, break the ship to get inside, and then do a shipless run from there.

After the quantum moon, I was sure you'd jump through BH's black hole to the white hole station, and get to DB from there.
But MAN, the gravity cannon was just SO satisfying to watch!
It's kinda cool how you can use the gravity cannon like that
Usually it’s just to scare the shit out of me while I’m trying to figure out what it is
I once died in the Orbital Probe Cannon on Giant's Deep because I didn't thought the cannon would still be on

Holy moly, on the razor's edge with your oxygen at the end there. Amazing gameplay!
I legit had no clue the gravity cannon could fling you without the ship
I found that one out the hard way.

Grounded Hearthian Cannon getting mixed results, it seems
While this works, there is a much safer method for not using a ship.
Once you get the core, use the Nomai ship and gravity cannon on Ember Twin and aim for Dark Bramble. You'll have much more fuel for when you're inside the seed.
Yeah, but what would Slate say if they heard you talking about safety!
@@Pratanjali64 Hey, we ain't gonna break the ship, so I don't think he has an opinion on this, doesn't he?
Let's be honest. This is the fun way
safer way for not using the ship:
use a ship!
I'm seeing this many years later. It is fantastic! You helped me appreciate all the nuanced connections between planets
even more.
Absolute mad man
If there's an Outer Wilds "movie" this is totally the Climax, it'd have to be in a slightly different order, but let's say you take the core from the ATP, then go back to Timber Hearth to say a final goodbye, but then the ship gets destroyed on landing and you have to use your suit and the knowledge you've acquired to get to the eye with one try.
*Ship gets destroyed
“It’s not possible”
*looks at the Quantum moon and warp core at hand
“No… it’s necessary”
Wonderful! You could optimize inside Brabmle navigation by going directly to the ship using the lights for orientation instead of making a side trip just to use the scout.
EDIT: Ok, you did that in the newer run.
Yeah I learned how to do that after making this video. I even made another video to demonstrate.
@@Pratanjali64/videosThis is more "legit" though, I like it.
Outer Wilds if the supernova happened the day before your pre-launch campout.
honestly i feel so stupid for never trying the flashlight on quantum moon tower
JUST IN TIME, what an amazing video
This is such a smart way to accomplish this challenge. Very well played my friend.
My mind is thoroughly blown.
I mean, I figured this was possible, but I didn't know HOW possible. Close call there near the end.
That was so satisfying to watch
It’s not rocket science if you don’t have to use rockets
You can reach orbit just by running and jumping on the ecuator, no water jet required :D
I literally just started this game and it scares the hell out of me

Me: "...The madman is gonna use the gravity cannon...." 0.0
Also, I never noticed before that the black hole in the warp core grows and shrinks.
This makes me wonder if there is anything that you absolutely need the ship for, or if its possible to get 100% of the log entries without the ship.
...Huh.
don't think there's anything
suitless is a theoretical challenge, but shipless is not
getting onto the stranger for the first time might be the most difficult thing I can think of
@@IronMan9771 speedrunners know setup for correct direction
and they use probe launcher as propulsion
Navigating Giant's Deep is a nightmare without the ship. The planet has too much gravity and water. There are also things like getting below that island in Giant's Deep that requirers the ship. Maybe it is posible to wait for the tornado to launch the island into the air and go exactly to where it will land so it lands above you. But it would require an insane amount of coordination I figure.
Thank fuck this wasn't one of the achievements
Great work!
So, can you go in space by using pillar of sand here 8:50?
Oh sure, you absolutely can! I just wanted to use as many different modes of transport as I could. I admit that there's a lot of downtime in my run from last year. I did another run recently that you may find more interesting: ruclips.net/video/2WzJ4INXLw4/видео.html
@@Pratanjali64 Not only you can, I had that happen multiple times on accident. I also had my ship get flung in space and/or Ember Twin.
This is impressive! Big brain move! 😮🎉
what was that thing that flew by at 6:10? the front of the interloper? it was moving so fast...
Pretty sure it was just sand

So basically Ludicrous Speed given the scale of the game :P

Launching the scout ahead to let us know you intended to use the gravity cannon was pretty genius story telling. Props to you good sir 👏

Anyone else noticed that the Nomai distress beacon syncs up with Final voyage?
One of my favorite details!! It's so cool that for the rest of the game the beacon sounds so dissonant but in the final moments it harmonizes perfectly, without changing the beacon sound at all.

-me, watching this video
@Scado56 Hey man I really appreciate this. I did this run way back before I ever joined the Outer Wilds community. I've since learned that there's way more efficient ways to go shipless, but I still like my run for the variety of travel methods and the planning that I think is pretty evident.
@@Pratanjali64 And I can confirm that it makes a very good video!
I thought those bazillion shots at the seed from a distance were funny too. When the speedrunner way doesn't work out.
More games needs to have this, altough perhaps not required to fully physically like outer wilds
And perhaps more centred onto much larger central planet, as the main stage the majority the singleplayer, whilest reserving the rest of the Solar System for possible DLC, whilest utilizing different Solary System as multiplayer server?
Btw you don't need to go via the Dark Bramble node with the crashed shuttle to get to the ship. You can just go directly to the first red node you see on DB to get to the anglerfish nest and make your way from there.
Oh yeah that's one of the first things I learned after I uploaded this video.
Saw it first to see the achievement and fell asleep. Now watching it everyday to sleep during the lunch break, 100% efficicency 🙌
