I'm playing a 5e campaign and am playing a Halfling with the Mark of Hospitality, it WAS going to be a combat campaign but the party has so far been successful at negotiating anything if I'm near a kitchen. Haven't even had to use any charm spells , just charm them.

    Great production!
    Two corrections:
    - Vadalis' main work is magebreeding. It's quite common.
    - Mark of Death has nothing to do with assassination or killing.

    • @AdventurersPack
      @AdventurersPack  4 года назад +2

Thank you Boyo, and thank you for your that!
We touched on the magebreeding that house Vadalis dabbles in and although it is quite common, especially among their more restless and gifted members, their main focus and source of income is animal breeding, both of the magical and non magical variety.
That is an excellent point with the Mark of Death. Although the true nature of the mark has been long forgotten (or, you know, purposefully not released), Keith Baker has said that how the house is used is the choice of each DM but that in his opinion the house would not kill. Our allusion to the house seeming to have been associated with assassinations in the Eberron setting is based on its connection with the Lady Vol and the history with the house of Vol that bore the mark of death. Though again, all of this is up to each DMs discretion as to how they would like to use the Mark of Death.

Adventurer's Pack I’ve never been lauded for being old. Here is my favorite DM tip: next time someone picks pockets, give them something strange. A wedding ring with a proposal speech hastily scrawled, a healing potion with a not from Mom to stay safe, a human toe with a ransom note that was on its way to being delivered. It’s a simple way to add depth to the world.
      P. S. I’ve been binging y’all’s stuff at work all day.

@@AdventurersPack A shame. House Vol is like the evil sleeper agent house, and while it is unknown what The Mark of Death does the implications are terrifying. I like their motivation though because while they may attract evil necromancers and other unpleasant people that their religion attracts and the revenge plot, they're actually just chill people who focus on self improvement and when they were "destroyed" they were only trying to make peace between the Elves and the Dragons in their own way. There's got to be more content coming out sometime to cover these guys. The lost house is no small thing.

    1. Aberrant Mark does have a house caller House Tarkanan, they are basically assassins for the Boromar Clan who are a halfling mafia.
    2. House Jorasco (the halflings with the mark of healing) have a deep relationship with said Boromar Clan, giving their haflings free healing (Saidan Boromar donates to House Jorasco) and Mala Boromar d'Jorasco is both an unmarked member of House Jorasco and Saidan Boromar's wife.

A couple of things: I read most of the novels and a few things came up in those books. Denerith are mercenaries. They are forbidden to fight for a cause or fight for free. Canith are the trade unions. They control manufacturing, of all kinds. If you open a smithy, you want to be licensed by House Canith or the people won't think you're up to snuff. Siblis are scribes and notaries as well as lawyers and teachers. The thirteenth house, the mark of death was the other elven dragonmarked house. The last person to wield the mark is now known as the Lich Queen. Seriously if you get a chance, read the Eberron novels. Rich Baker himself wrote some of them and they are very good at describing the world in the days after the War. It seems they didn't advance the timeline between 3rd edition and 5th edition, so the lore and cultures of those 3e books is still valid.

    House of Jorasco... Hhmmm 🤔
I wonder if the Halflings who have this mark were to establish a sophisticated chain of inns, exactly like The Continental Hotel in the movie John Wick, where all members of Dragonmarked houses find neutral sanctuary and prohibits killing of any kind.

Late to comment, but I actually have a fun way to use House Ghallanda in my game. Basically I have them as a kind of Halfling Mafia. Like they are all friendly and are very willing to help with Favors, but you better pay them back or else they will send collectors. One of my players is playing one such collector as their house agent background. They are having loads of fun and just thought I'd share this headcanon kind of thing.

@@AdventurersPack I'm running an Eberron game. It is supposed to be (If I can do it right) a game where all the planes are being pulled into the material plane. The players have been tasked to find out why certain supernatural events are happening. Will involve tears in reality and I am going to have that be the reason why the Mournlands are the way they are now, with that being the first incident of another plane of reality merging with the material.

I’m interested in playing a musical troop with connections to both house Gallanda (entry to all the taverns to play) and house Phiarlan (entertainers & spies). But how does a spy remain undercover with the Shadow Dragonmark? It screams “spy” - or “assassin”. Why would you divulge a secret to them? Can they hide their dragonmark? Do you know if Gallanda Halflings and Phiarlan elves ever work together?

    • @macoppy6571
