There is definitely an art to hewing around the windows. If I were to try something like that, I would end up taking chunks out of my window seal and have to redo it lol. Merry Christmas and May God Bless you and family.
I have watched all of your videos on building this beautiful cabin. I am wondering about how much the wood will shrink. I imagine the wood spindles will prevent some vertical settling but wonder whether there is sufficient gap at the top of the window so that the window does not crack. Also, are you planning on chinking as the wood shrinks and ages?
If everything works correctly, I don't need any chinking. The cabin should actually get tighter overtime. We'll see if the gaps over the windows are big enough. Settling has been quite minimal so far, maybe because I used seasoned logs and the cabin is very small.
