God I hope this guy goes nuts on the full cabin and builds the most beautiful Japanese cabin this view deserves. He’s got the skills and I don’t care if it’s a 500 part 8 year video series. Can’t wait.
I fully agree with all the accolades here. Love your work and so nice to have a video without music for a change. Just what planet are the noobs who thumbs down on this?
There are a lot of good wood workers/carpenters on the ‘net, but there are few with anything close to your design esthetic. I love your stuff, a combination of elegance and Japanese simplicity.
Nice work...economy of motion, using cutoffs and drill outs to reference your next step....very wise.....and don't think we didn't hear the chuckle in your head when you made those perfect hand plane ribbons....very good.
Now THAT’S how you make beautiful window sills. Samurai Style that is. Well done! Nice shadow camera work btw. And that doorhandle will haunt you for a while I guess. But you’ll fix it anyway! You always do.
Dad was a factory worker but did all the repairs, remodeling and upgrades on our home. I admired his carpenter skills but you, sir, are one helluva wood worker. From simple framing tasks to fine furniture . Damn! And you're still a very present family man. Congrats
I love that you include your missteps. Makes my mistakes building a tiny house somehow acceptable if the Samurai Carpenter has them too! Keep up the great job.
Jesse. Such detail in your work. I see your intense focused passion in the up close shots. I visited my Brother in Wassila, Alaska and rode ATV's around a glacier. The scenery was much like your views. It was quite ethereal and the scent of the air was like none I have experienced. It was absolutely intoxicating. I am really happy for you that you have such Beauty as your canvas to create your Masterpiece. Best Regards!
Good learning on having the windows stretch the width of the wall. Using the small cabin to figure out what can be improved on n the main house. Good cameraman skills here too! Great series. Great collaboration you guys.
I love it. I am particularly amazed that your window glass is so clear that it is like it is not even there. Good on you. Maybe you will eventually get a door that works.
Always love a good piece of precision joinery. There are some good videos on RUclips on how to quickly remove tree stumps by burning them using a 55 gallon steel drum. Might be worth a look? Massive Respect from New Zealand. 😀👍
Love watching your videos Jesse, love your techniques, love the old school ways. This cabin is amazing, no ply wood or resin to be seen, its great. looking forward to more.
Nice video as always! I was wondering if you could do a project with some traditional architectural brackets or "dougong" in Chinese. I love how overly complicated they are. Maybe you can make a small garden shine or something?
I love the chisel work but I was like, where's the cordless Makita Multi tool! ..... hey bud, check out the LN 102 for a lighter weight, low angle daily user to carry in your apron. It fits better in your hand and is the perfect size for chamfering edges or planning up to a 1" board. and, it won't break if you drop it.. like the more delicate rabbit plane.
Everything fits like a glove, amazing craftsmanship as always. With tolerances so tight, do you have to worry about thermal expansion causing buckling?
Wood isn't effected by hot and cold outside of combustion. Wood is only effected by moisture content. That is why it is seasonal movement that causes issues because it is typically dry in the winter. Being that he lives around Victoria which is essentially rain Forrest, the humidity is pretty steady as always pretty high, so he would have a huge amount of issues with movement.
@@sackclothandashes1342 adding to this, he's building it in the wet.. so if/when a dry summer comes, there will be contraction from this current size, but probably not too much expansion
"Your belly keeps the weight off your hips" from the guy who has developed a mighty fine "belt buckle polisher". Nice work on the sills. Next time order an entry lock that has 2-3/8" to 2-3/4" adjustable option, I feel your pain on that one.
God I hope this guy goes nuts on the full cabin and builds the most beautiful Japanese cabin this view deserves. He’s got the skills and I don’t care if it’s a 500 part 8 year video series. Can’t wait.
Prob more a funds issue than anything, and if enough people gave towards the fund, I am sure we would see it sooner.
Deserve???
So good to see joinery done without the need for sealant guns of gunk to fill the gaps. Pure art.
Hats off the the cameras guy. That shot with the shadow of the cabin wall 🙌
Love the detail work on the window sills 👌
Those windows are so clean and clear it is almost like they are not even there. :)
I always think of Leon the Professional when I see that tool belt!!!!
Really liked that shadow shot of you chiseling out the door handle and latch
The shot of his shadow working on the door was a beauty
NGL, that first approach at the frame with the pull saw had me puckering my nether regions. Nice job.

The glass in those windows is very clean!
The weather was spectacular on that day!
.....slice of paradise through my hd tv screen. thanks!!
That is an absolutely beautiful lake/mountains, the water is so clean!
For years I’ve been hoping that one day I’d get to see you build a house. Dreams come true my friend! Love these videos!
Your videos are very inspiring. Great craftsmanship and camera work.
one of the finest wooden cabins i have seen, even compared to Switzerland.
also good cameramen
Few words, just craftsmanship! Love it!
Your joinery is fabulous, such Zen like care in your hand skills. Amazing! 🇦🇺👴
Still impressed, how clear the windows are. :D
He has the window glass installed?!
@@CalvinBacon Actually not. ;)
@@AlBorland3877 jeez you had me doubting my observation skills there for a minute 🤣

That is the cleanest glass I think I’ve ever seen Samurai!
lol!

most beautiful spot . great craftsmanship.
A Japanese timber framer would be proud of your sleeping shed, scared to see the engineering precision you will build the cabin to my young friend
It is a pretty nice view.
Beautiful photography and program, Thankyou Jesse.

Beautiful work as usual 👏
That clear Doug-Fir grain has me drooling!!!
This series has been so amazing and so much fun to watch. Look forward to each new episode!

I really respect, Jesse. He’s a good man.
Always a delight to watch. Thanks Samurai.
Whatever you are paying that camera guy... it isn't enough. Great videography! 📽
Wow, what a view...
Mr. Camara-Man need a belt like you've got!
this view outside is breathtaking!
Lovely work. You seem a lot happier out there in the boonies, less pressured.
This is beautiful you work well
Looks great as usual
I love that you include your missteps. Makes my mistakes building a tiny house somehow acceptable if the Samurai Carpenter has them too! Keep up the great job.
You are doing everything right by your family; you are a true inspiration.
Coming along, and looks awesome. One of the very few people left that takes pride in there craftsmanship.
Wow, the level of precision here is amazing to watch, you are doing an amazing job and can’t wait to continue watching your vision turn to reality!

In Alaska, USA Sockeye Salmon won’t bite any lure, bait for flies, those are the only Salmon we snagged.

Despite your door handle difficulties, you're living my dream LOL. Be well!

Hallelu Yah, beautiful view and cabin. love the work.
Thank you for sharing this cool journey. Have an awesome week. :)
Enjoyed watching the video.
First - Jesse made me do it.
No greater feeling then something that fits perfectly, definitely a master, nice work
I love how you take your time and do it right!
You aced it dude.
Beautiful clean design, entertaining build.
Amazing! You should be very proud.
I am so happy that you make rookie mistakes with the door handle. I might make it to be a great joiner yet!
That was so satisfying to watch and listen to, nothing quite like the crackling of a fire. Love your work - keep it up fella :)
Great video buddy 👍😎🇨🇦

As usual I was spellbound for the entire video wanting MORE!
You look happy as hell my friend!
wow. some beautiful views out of those windows!
Just do it on next cabin views are great
Looks amazing
Great work you are a true artist

Thanks for sharing why the space is small. Makes sense! You're putting a lot of effort into this small cabin. Crazy skill.
If only the weather we had this past weekend on the island stayed like this for a while, must have been nice to be on the lake. :)
when a furniture maker decides to build a house... building a cabin to 1/16" tolerances or tighter is pretty unique! 😉
I was thinking if this is going to eventually going to be the shed then best built shed on the planet
Never seen a fancy mortising chisel on a building site either.
@@johannes.f.r. I have seen guys use a flat head screwdriver as a chisel (with decent results sometimes)
@@johannes.f.r. especially one hit with a framing hammer!
With the advent of the cheap harbor freight digital Vernier caliper, we've all increased our levels of precision wood working.
Great video !!!!
ooof, soooo nice, the whole project is amazing
It's looking fantastic, dude! 😃
Great work!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I expect your cabin to a full-on japanses temple complex with woodcarved exterior.
That is some super clear glass you have there. 😂
I’m not gonna lie…. I was wondering the same thing. Why so small? The answer makes a lot more sense now…. Well done Samurai!
Muck boots are awesome...
In the close ups I often find myself blowing the sawdust away for you 😂 Great work and content as always Jesse - thanks man!
Well that last bit at the end of video stumped me
boo :)
Classy as frig.
Im addicted to this
5:22 having the ear protection on your head while using the saw, but not wearing them on your ears :D
So you plan on bringing a sawmill out to the island for the bigger cabin.
Awesome
Love this channel
Good job on the camera.
Any idea as to what is the size of the main cabin gonna be ??? BTW nice work. 🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍

14:37 should be your new logo.
I tought of that to😃👌
Those windows will never look as clean as they do right now.
The video is so clear and alive. If you can, I'd like to know what camera set up you are using?
iPhone 13 pro.
Looks great. Door handles, I thought you can adjust the hardware to two different sizes.

Yes, that’s an odd one; most of the high end door lock/handle kits come with the adjustable deadbolt or latch
