Mike something I use to mark trees for cutting is a long handle walk behind spray paint marker. I just added a 1/4 inch rod that slide through a hole I put through the handle. All you need to do is start at one end or the other and touch the paint button and your length is marked without bending over. Gary.
I've had a MSA 220 for 3 years - cut lots of firewood and even small timber with it. Awesome and handy little saw. Still have my old 260 for bigger jobs though - no saw is perfect for everything! Tool for the job...
Some friends bought a battery operated DeWalt chain saw. At first I thought "That can't be any good", but I was wrong! Amazing little saw. Battery lasts a long time. No cord pulling over and over again until you are worn out, just squeeze the trigger. Let off and it quits while you are walking around too.
I have noticed that you and many other people make their forecut and then make the notch cut from the top. I was taught by my dad to cut the notch out below the forecut. He had 2 reasons. (1) you didn't end up loosing board length from a big notch being cut out of the butt log,, and (2) it was a much safer way to fell a tree.. As the tree begins to fall the butt of the tree drops down into the notch and can not kick back off the backside of the stump. I noticed that Buckin Billy always under cuts his notches also.--------------------------Loren

Hi Guys another very enjoyable video PLEASE keep at it. The chain saw performed very well and I was surprised at how well a battery chainsaw did all the cutting. My mate and I have just bought another Stihl chainsaw with a 36" cutting bar to cut the big stuff. Say "Hi to Hunter" for me. Willie

When we cut firewood it is all the same length. Use the bar as a measuring device. Mark the bar or use whole length. Like 18 inch bar or 16 inch. Used to be we all ran 16" bars and it was easier. Saves time measuring and marking.

Good to see everyone has to follow Mike’s safety rules as chainsaws are so dangerous. Love how you still mark the logs for proper cutting length, makes some of us happy to see a good stack of wood! 😁👍🏻 Hey Hunter! ✋🏻👴🏻
The electric is definitely easier on the ears. I ran too many big old chainsaws over the years without any hearing protection and now I regret it. Mike, maybe you should do a video on hearing protection options if you haven’t already. The ear muffs really held in a lot of Summer heat so I wear plugs in the Summer now.
Bunker pants for firefighters won't stop a chainsaw. BTW if you wrap one end of a short length of 12 or 14 g bare copper wire (IE ground from a piece of romex) around a few of the heat exchanger wires of the fridge (The metal grate usually on the back) and insert the other end up the drain hose, the wire will transfer enough heat to the tube that it won't freeze. When Mike was backing the Ranger down to the wood to load it, I just knew the next part was going to be him sitting in the Ranger and asking melissa if she needed any help loading it!!!
Short and sweet. I got a battery powered (Not Stihl) just because I busted up my shoulder some time back and that Farm Boss just was too hard to tug on. I used the battery powered for clean up during the winter and when I got the Wrangler stuck to clear out a path. It ran for 3 hrs on 75% charge. I will be looking at a Stihl later on but for now I put the other one in the Jeep for emergency. Lot easier on the shoulders too. Just FYI.
I’ve always seen your chalk marks, but this is the first time I’ve seen the tape measure in action. Melissa did a great job with the electric - and so much easier on the ears. An impressive saw.
2 years ago just about summer long.. I used a battery powered chainsaw... To got a lot of limbs off trees... It worked great... The Engineers claim you could cut about 250 to 300 cuts at 2" to 3" around. And yes I believe it..
