This man is a creative genius. I saw the revival of Spring Awakening that Michael directed and it was absolutely beautiful. The ideas in this man's mind is incredible.

Lauren Ng , I second that wholeheartedly! Michael Arden is an amazing talent. I have seen both productions also. I hope the Tony Awards recognize him this year. He definitely deserves it.

Another incredible show from an amazingly talented director. I just want to note that Lea Salonga being in the production is not a big deal. Not everyone in the Caribbean is black. It is a more diverse region than most people realize. The book doesn’t even specify an exact country where the story takes place, so there was no reason that every single character had to be black. It didn’t take away from the storytelling at all. I loved the show. Keep up the great work!👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

That is true, but the author made it her life goal to celebrate the lives and tell the stories of black people. You can look her up. I feel like it is very important to honor the author's intentions. The book also clearly states that the peasant class us black and that the elite class are descendants of French colonizers. The books also mentions that it takes place in the French Antilles. Still to this day the majority of the people who live in the former French Caribbean colonies are black or mixed-race black.

A lovely interview! I did not know that LaChanze's husband passed away in 9/11.
Hope to see the show in the spring/summer of 2018! It looks amazing and the talent is unbelievable!

Less than a year after her husband tragically died, she performed in the 10th anniversary reunion semi-staged production and the audience was SO with her. ruclips.net/video/iCj8B5aLnvs/видео.html
