  • @LouSeph
    @LouSeph 12 дней назад +13

    Triple doubles have become the most overrated stat in the NBA may be in all of sports. It used to be good because people would get it without just stat padding. Now it’s so easy to get stats in the NBA that it really doesn’t mean what it used to mean. Also, all of the stats are offensive, because they really don’t fight for rebounds anymore so the best player is just allowed to get them and put up rebounding stats. Look at some of the ridiculous rebounds they count for LeBron. Angry old hoops did a whole video on LeBron getting phantom stats the last few years.Basically what they tried to accuse Michael Jordan of their actually doing for LeBron. Just like any dictator usually they just accuse the other person of what they’re doing.

    Lebron stans really are a cult.
    Lebron has 4 titles, true, it helps when you stack the deck in your favor and hook up with multiple HOFers to do so.
    But why is he also 4-6 in the finals with the second most losses in finals history?
    Along with being 1 of only 2 top 10 all time players (Wilt Chamberlain being the other) with a losing record in the finals?...

    I agree. Oscar Robertson was dominant in the league with the Cincinnati Royals as the only option, but it wasn’t until he got to Milwaukee and hooked up with Kareem, so the Big O wasn’t the first option, that the Big O found success and won a ring! I am of an age where I saw all of them play in the NBA from the 1950s on….

    According to available data, Nikola Jokic typically holds the ball for around 2.7 seconds per touch on average, which is considered relatively short compared to other players despite having a high number of touches per game; this highlights his unique ability to quickly read the game and make decisions with the ball in his hands.
    Lebron - 7 seconds
    Luka - 10 seconds
    Granted, I have no clue how accurate this information is... It's what I could find.

    • @TacoMahstah
      @TacoMahstah 11 дней назад +3

      Additionally, you're AGAIN lumping Jokic in with Lebron and Luka. He NEVER guards the guy in the corner. He's always in the paint. Westbrick has been really solid on defense with Denver, obviously (as you mentioned) because his role is completely different.

  • @macalloway1
    @macalloway1 12 дней назад +1

    The biggest issue with that style of play isn’t even resting on defense because Peyton manning had a similar problem and obviously people don’t play both sides in the nfl. The issue is that it’s easier to defend one person’s strengths than the strengths of a team and it’s easier to adapt your game plan to attack weaknesses of the other team if you don’t have one person making all the decisions. Also it makes other players feel like uninvolved cogs. Nothing creates team chemistry more than seeing the best player sacrifice to be part of the common goal. That’s why Steph and Duncan and and Kobe and mj played on teams that were more than the sum of their parts and certain other players always seem to need more help even when they have other top 10 players on their team. Besides 3 years with Durant Steph never had another top 10 players

  • @bryantnonya8704
    @bryantnonya8704 12 дней назад +1

    That's a great point about resting on offense because the defense doesn't know if the ball's coming to you or not so you're a threat even when you don't score. You can also by resting on defense make your defender become complacent which allows you an opportunity to create separation get the ball and score from the perimeter...

When Lebron does, his team wins 76.5% of the time. Westbrook 73.5%. Only player than has a semi-similar record with/without a triple double is Luka at 68%.

      @benjamingilbert-richardson7734 yes it does. Watch the 91 finals. Watch any of Lebrons finals wins. Watch the 23 finals. You can absolutely win facilitating and scoring. It just takes a very special player to be able to pull it off. Stop trying to dumb down these players to fit in a box from the 1900s.

    • @benjamingilbert-richardson7734
      @benjamingilbert-richardson7734 10 дней назад

      @JoshWilliams-i8p I believe you are being intentionally obtuse here and quite disingenuous for saying Jordan was a "facilitator" in the 91 finals. He was a willing passer when double teamed and the main beneficiary was John Paxon who was often wide open. But Jordan was in the triangle and was definitely NOT the facilitator of the offense, the triangle has no facilitator.
      You have completely ignored the word "consistently" and are ignoring the point of the video. This is proven by the fact that in ~80 years of NBA history you can point to 4-5 times where the style of play has resulted in a chip. And there are just as many examples where team ball on a less "skilled" team has won. '04, '11, '14. And that's not counting all the times James "The System" Harden has flamed out in the playoffs
      Have a good day. I dislike arguing with disingenuous people.

  • @TacoMahstah

    The only garbage teammate Jokic has is Murray, and I've said it for years. Worst max player in the NBA. 4/18 half the time, but he makes a 3 in the 4th quarter, and everyone forgets that his brick-laying is why the Nuggets were down most of the game... Aaron Gordon is insane on D, and can produce on offense when need, great on the boards when healthy. MPJ has some rough games (like everyone), but he's transitioned from sitting on the outside to getting in the paint and making plays and rebounding, really stepping up. He's fast becoming a favorite of mine. Braun is solid, frontrunner for most improved player, imho... Strawther, Watson, and Jordan are often solid off the bench. Westbrick off the bench has brought great energy and facilitating, taking a lot of the burden to get guys going off of Jokic. He's looked great in the games he's starting, although the shot's not there. The rest of the bench could use some work, but nobody but Lebron in Miami gets an all star bench.
    Luka has Kyrie, Klay, Lively, Gafford, PJ, Dinwiddie, Grimes, Naji... Mavs have a fuckin` squad, and they might work a deal for Jimmy Butler!!! No bums in sight.

To say the never got stats is insanity ..The only player there that truly sacrificed to win was Tim Duncan. He the only one that sacrificed offensive numbers.
