Welcome back to another Gears of war video, in this video I'm going to be sharing the Gears of war 2 documentary 'Beneath the Surface' which came with the Xbox 360 special edition. This documentary looks at behind the scenes at Epic Games when they were producing Gears of war 2 and it's an amazing watch! It features Cliff Bleszinski, Rod Fergusson & other amazing guys. When Gears of War was King. They don't make em like they used too and likely never ever again. If you could summarize this entire Documentary in one word, the answer is "Passion". Something that needs to come back. And Now more than ever.

It's because of gamepass. Gamepass ruins the quality of Microsoft's first party. When you make something for passion vs profit, the difference is night and day. If you're a developer, the most exciting news to hear is that your game has sold millions of copies. Imagine how deflating it must be to know that your game won't sell because everyone is playing it for $1 on gamepass instead. This is why Sony and Nintendo's games are (for the most part) absolute bangers while Microsoft just releases gamepass filler.

It's so weird at 6:20 they're talking about how excited they are about how the public will react to the Maria scene - not knowing it would not only be the most iconic scene in the series but one of the most iconic death scenes in all of video game history, and all for a character we only see twice in the entire series.
I can tell exactly what scenes the mo-caps are acting out before seeing the transition :D That's a sign of a truly special game

I started playing the series from launch of GOW and 5 is fun imo but the old Gears games had something unique about them.
They talk like nothing else literally matters. It's Gears or nothing. Crazy how Epic got so big

@@GlamisSandDragVidz Modern Gears is suffering the same problems as modern Halo. Both from replacement studios who do nothing but work on said series.
A blast to play. Enjoyed the new game mechanics vs part 1 like the shield, online was rough to get into alas.

I don't understand why Epic games today doesn't have Games like Gears of war like photorealistic graphics. Epic games today is just Fotnite and they sell Unreal Engine.
