Same, i started playing gears in 07 online and campaign was krazy then but gears of war 2 was next level, the multiplayer was wild, horde ufff got me hooked in that mode. And the campaign was absolutely beautiful.
It's interesting how similar Gears and Halo are in terms of their stories and development. Halo: CE and Gears 1 were the introduction to a new world and setting, along with a fresh gameplay style that was fun enough to warrant buying a console for. Halo 2 and Gears 2 had gripping stories and pivotal moments that greatly expanded the lore for each, from playing as the Covenant via the Arbiter, to taking the fight to the Locust Hollows and capital. Most fans will agree that they are the most memorable campaign for each series. Halo 3 and Gears 3 wrapped up the stories with satisfying endings, along with offering the best multiplayer experience that ran strong for years and years. The sheer amount of variety that both titles had truly spoiled us. I'm sure we all remember playing custom zombie matches in Halo or fighting off waves of Locust (or playing as them) in Gears. Halo 4 and Gears 4 were the start of a new trilogy. Both games weren't recieved as well by fans, but over time people came to appreciate them for what they were: A fresh spin on an old series that still tried to follow what made their predecessors great. Halo 5 and Gears 5 took all that effort and threw it out the window. They killed what hope and goodwill that fans had, leaving both titles just floating in the void. Here's hoping that E-Day brings us back to the Gears that we all loved growing up.
Hopefully they listened to our concerns and the Trailer they showed us that they probably see what sells Gears of war. That trailer is everything we have always wanted
Do not cope for Halo 4 and Gears 4. Halo 4 is a bad game targeting the CoD audience. Gears 4 has the single shittiest cast of characters that have ever been written. Even JD, who is an entitled protagonist Golden Boy who doesn’t seem fazed by anything. Del was a springboard for “funny” quips to bounce off of. And Kait was kind of there to move the plot and be a girlboss archetype. Not to mention that gears 4’s campaign is a 3 paragraph essay drawn out to be 5 acts. Gears 5 on the other hand was the unique experiment you spoke of. New open world type acts, playable Jack, hidden weapon variants that offer new playstyles or powerful advantages. And what, 5 was bad because Kait is a bad protagonist? I know there were legitimate gripes and grievances about monetization and grind at launch, but I wasn’t around to speak on them now. As it stands now, Gears 5 has a good progression system for Horde and Escape, unable to speak on versus as I’ve not played it. Gears 5 is now a fun game, and I hope they look into how fun this iteration feels to make better experiences
Starting a new play through of the first 3 games and watching these old videos for the first time in over 10 years. The gaming world has changed so much! I hope E day gives this franchise a much needed boost and recapture the feel of the original 🤞
It only took me 13 years to realize John is the voice actor of characters in 2 of my most favorite things ever created. This and Adventure Time. Likely more, but I don't often look lol
for anyone regretting not playing gears back in the day, gears of war ultimate edition is the remastered gears of war 1 and the campaign is STILL a great time to play. recently revisited it myself and it was a blast. gears of war 2 i believe is still backwards compatible and that campaign is AMAZING and really expands on the world perfectly, and gears 3 campaign, imo, wasnt as spectacular as i hoped but still finishes off the original trilogy really well

Should Gears of War: E-Day prove to be a disappointment, it would ruin my confidence in The Coalition. The game's failure to meet expectations could potentially signify the end of the Gears of War series.
For me, it's either Gears of War 3 or Judgement. If the trilogy gets remastered, i kinda want them to have that gritty grainy look that 2008-2011 games had on them.
Either gears 6 is announced June 9th (Which is unlikely because the voice actors said they are still waiting to be called) Or Gears 1-3 remastered collection will be announced.
It had to of been hard for the voice actor for Dom when finding his wife, yeah it's a game, but you really get sucked into the story even as a gamer, can't imagine being the one actually acting it out.
The original Gears of War trilogy (online multiplayer excluded, to an extent) is a perfect example of how to keep improving a franchise. Every campaign was better than the last. The added game modes, features, weapons, opponents, etc kept improving.
No purple-haired liberal women or sexually ambiguous freakazoids involved in the production and development of these games of yore (at least not in any position to have an influence). These were the days when AAA titles were worth playing. My thanks to the bros who made something unique and exciting in games like gears of war
The ORIGINAL Gears of War trilogy was a Masterpiece. It would be easily, my favorite franchise of all time. Gears 4..5.. is embarrassing to even have the ‘Gears,’ title on them. They are garbage. I mean garbage.
Dont get why everyone is trashing on gears 4 and 5 so hard. Its okay that the originals are better but nothing about 4 or 5 suck. Campaign was great just didn't like kait being forced but even then it added new content for myrrah. Multiplayer was great in both and horde mode is better than ever. Im glad they are moving on from Marcus's journey because that doesn't undo the magic that was the original. Compare 4 and 5 to halo or the low effort cod puts in and gears is ahead.

The story was great. It was the MP that let everyone down.
The story for 2 is the best in the franchise but 3 had the best multiplayer and improved with using dedicated servers
