Interesting video! Just a few things I wanted to point out: Make sure to get the fluoride that is always stuck on the wrapper. That part needs to be incorporated for adequate mixing. I use suction after application, but never let the patient close on it. Rinse your suction for 2 minutes to flush the line. Personally, I avoid the occlusal surfaces because the patient will just eat it off. I always ask my patient to wait about 30 minutes before consuming food/beverage just to give the varnish time to solidify and adhere to teeth. Great explanations!
There are no exposed nerves when you have gum recession... Just exposed dentin which can cause hypersensitivity. It is good to use fluoride varnish on exposed root surfaces to prevent root decay since dentin is softer than enamel and more prone to decay.
Hey it's a good video and helps me a lot. But i want to know the application of sodium fluoride only not the fluoride varnish. Plz make s video about fluoride application.
Hello there and thank you very much for your super informative video and demo! May I ask, pls, what about the interspaces? How could someone apply fluoride varnish in between the teeth? Pls, forgive my ignorance, I'm 18 and would like to know this detail! Thank you very much in advance!
You just apply varnish to the facial and lingual surfaces of the teeth. The varnish activates and infuses with saliva. Saliva washes over all surfaces of the teeth so apply varnish to the interproximal spaces of teeth is unnecessary.
Hello, according to kriss ai Swallowing a small amount of fluoride varnish during application is generally safe. It is used in minimal amounts during dental treatments, within safe limits. However, if you experience discomfort or have health concerns, consult your dentist or healthcare provider.
After a fluoride varnish application, a patient can eat right away, but they need to avoid hot or sticky food, and alcoholic drinks for 6 hours. They brush their teeth at night as normal or the next morning to allow maximum uptake. You can use it once every 3-6 months depending on necessity.
Dr. Nadya Al Shakaki no.. not with the fluoride gel or foam used with treat application. You can use the suction as recommended with the gel tray applications.

Jennist Hygienist do you recommend applying on the lingual side?
Should the dental hygienist paint the whole tooth or just the root area? I had this treatment and she just did at the base of the teeth/roots.
What about gum recession with exposed nerves? Is there anything stronger or just flap suregery/grafting? Thank you for posting.

I like your video
ا don't understand why we should not use the suction
Dr. Nadya Al Shakaki it has been proven that it gunks up the suction lines and reduces overall efficiency of the dental unit.
Jennifer Suminski .. that also with flourid gel .. ?
