Blocking is done once a project has been bound off and is an essential step in knitting if you really want your finished items to look their best. What needles are you using? I've never seen needles that look like that before. Not that I could afford them anyway but still.
They are from Lantern Moon, made from palmwood.

ilurvemv I rarely use straight needles, so have only tried the Nova circular needles.
