  • On the next stage of our early retirement adventure we leave the mountain village of Abondance and head further into the Alps. Join us as we explore the hidden places of Morzine, climb the peaks high above the village and find the hidden goat village.
We are Richard and Jackie and we live in the UK. We have chosen to early retire from teaching during the summer of 2022 at the age of 51. We are currently on a 3 week trip to the Alps, with no plans just our desire to find the hidden wild places.
You will soon realise that we are complete RUclips beginners with all the challenges of creating and publishing videos ahead of us, not to mention uploading when on the road.
Please subscribe and like our videos if you like what you see.
    Check out our blog earlyretirementwanderlust.com
    Many thanks,
    Richard & Jackie

Loving the videos, obviously catching up on your travels. Link to the cheese burners would be ace 👍🏼 And you’re getting more natural on screen already. ⛰️⛰️🧀🥂🍾

🤣Thankyou, we are finding it much easier now! I loved the places we visited in this video. The Raclette burners were from a souvenir shop in chamonix I think. We saw them in loads of the alpine towns we visited. They take 2 tealights each which melts the cheese really well 🧀 the goat village was just ace!

@@earlyretirementwanderlust I’ll be in Chamonix next Friday/Saturday so I’ll keep my eyes open. Area looks beautiful and I can’t wait to see it all myself ⛰️⛰️👍🏼

I am very jealous I love Chamonix in the summer. The hikes around lac Blanc are stunning and the Aguille de midi although eyewateringly expensive for a cable car is amazing. We watched the ice climbers heading up Mont Blanc and walked across to the glacier to get the train down

Only found your channel recently - perfect! Will earmark some of the locations for later this year, as I love to hike and run in the mountains with my dogs. I also left teaching early and wander - I’m curious about what you taught…..

Hi Claire- thanks for the comment- we are really glad you found us! We love the Alps at any time of the year, but they are pretty special in the summer when the wildflower meadows are out.
Jackie taught in our local primary school Y3 and Y4. I was a PE specialist, but taught mainly maths in my last few years of teaching.
      Thanks again. R.

Hee, hee! I got you right as my guesses were PE or Maths - too many giveaways in the reset videos but had no clue with Jackie! I’m ex Geography and been in the Alps in my van lots before but not this corner, so it’s useful. We were in the Picos in the Autumn, simply stunning. It’s back to the Pyrenees and Alps for over 6 months in 2024. Isn’t early retirement wonderful! @@earlyretirementwanderlust

Great video. I need that cheese stat! Are the paths in good condition.? New Zealand 🇳🇿 Te Araroa is treacherous ..slippery and rock hopping across the faces of some cliffs…at 61yo im keen lovely scenery but scuttling up rocks …hot and tiring is ok with me!

The paths in all of the Alps are generally easy to follow and in reasonable condition - we have been lucky not to have had too much rain or mud which be a very different hike - I am not a fan of mud! I bet you get some awesome views when you do get out in NZ though! We are going to hike in the Italian Dolomites this summer 🥾

@Kiwiwanderer we haven’t done any long distance multi day trekking but Richard is just about to set off on the Dales Way in Yorkshire which is an 80 mile trek. We do want to hike the tour de Mont Blanc at some point.
