happy fatherday to you keep up the good work
Could you add some rehydrated chilis to the tomato sauce, like ancho or guajillo (sic)?
I've been looking at that griddle for a while, been seeing quite a few youtube cooks using it, seems to have more space then my LEM cast iron. I'm probably going to get a 22" Blackstone first though, they are both in the same general price range and this is OT season for me so I should be able to get both this summer.
In regards to the potatoes, are those raw or are the boiled before you put them on the griddle?
@@seanmartin8481 raw, cube em small and they cook quick.
Arnie, your channel is the BEST. I'm just a Ukrainian kid who grew up in the cold, Arctic tundra of Manitoba, Canada -- but easily half of my cooking at home now is Mexican because of these videos. Gracias por las recetas, señor.
Con todo gusto amigo, saludos
Makes me so happy to see traditional Mexican food reaching around the world! Arnie you are the man !
This reminds me so much of my dad ( he was born in El Paso) who is no longer with me. Im going to make this today for him..thank you brotha for the idea. Happy Father's Day Everyone!
the best tribute ever to your pops. RIP pops.
Same here man! Reminds me so much of my dad it’s crazy to watch , but def a nice reminder. Kinda like hanging with an old friend
@@acmdavid11that's sweet. My mom was born in El Paso too. My Mexican grandparents lived there after coming to this country. Yummy food!
Really fun, I see this authentic dish on the screen, I check it out. Simplicity is wondrous.
We must dance while dining on this recipe.
Okay....
I make picadillo on a fairly regular basis, at least once a month, but I make it according to a more Caribbean version that uses red/yellow bell peppers, onion, beef, wine, raisins, some spices, and I serve it over rice. Apparently it's a fairly widespread dish with a bunch of regional varieties.
Man I love your recipes. Out of everyone, I think I cook your stuff the most. I may just be a gringo, but I don't have to eat like one
You are the man Arnie! I have lived in California all my life so I have a lifelong love and passion for Mexican food.
I recently moved to the south, so I need to make all my favorites homemade and your channel has been invaluable to me. I appreciate you more than you'll realize. Love you Arnie!
Picadillo is one of my favorite dishes ever! I consider it to be a huge comfort meal! Happy Father’s Day and thank you for sharing 🩷
Really enjoy your easy relaxed way of cooking.
My family is from San Angelo Texas.
That happy dance makes me want to go straight to the store to buy the ingredients!
Put that over a nice mound of just cooked rice, over easy (yolks running) and sunny side eggs, plantain bananas (or saba - a shorter and somewhat flatter version of the plantain), and you have Arroz ala Cubana!
I made picadillo today. I used a pound and a half of ground beef. Browned the meat in a pan with avacado oil and added chili powder. Chopped up three potatoes, 1/2 white onion, three serrano chilis, two cloves garlic, three roma tomatoes and lime juice. Put a lid on it and turned the heat down to simmer it all together about 20 mins. Ate it with homemade tortillas de harina.
Your channel ROCKS Arnie!!
Filipinos have this dish, it’s called Picadillo if you add hard boiled eggs, Giniling if not. Only thing missing in their version is cumin and chiles. We’ll try it this way next time. Thanks!!!
Pop a couple of over easy eggs on top and, POW! Great recipe thank you for the video!
Arnie that's exactly what I made for my lunches this the only difference is am serving mine over white rice and Happy Father's day to everyone 👍
I could probably clear that whole griddle in one setting. Yum!
I’m totally not Hispanic, but I have to try this sometime. It looks great.
Can I just come over to your house to eat. That looks totally delicious. Thanks for sharing your videos.
I GREW UP ON THIS STUFF ITS ALL I ATE EVER!!!
Its time I make my childhood food
Great video Arnie, it looks absolutely delicious! We enjoy watching your videos! Thanks for sharing!
This is my comfort food! Love from Austin ❤ thanks for the recipe
Hey Arnie thanks for the video, love your happy dance and your yard is beautiful I could sit there all day drinking margaritas.😊
Love the videos! Thanks for teaching us knowledge! Your amazing chef!
When the foods so good it makes you dance, You know it's really good haha much love!
I like your cooking and humor, it's funny. Wish I could eat and have a beer with you.
Excellent vid and tutorial mi amigo.
Delicious as ever, i love your channel. Simple, but great food. Greetings from Germany, Phil
Hey thanks very much Arnie I'm definitely going to be buying myself that griddle for sure definitely 😁
I made it for my family. They loved it.
I've had such good results with your mama's Mexican rice that I have faith in your videos. Gotta try this!
This looks really great. I'm going to give it a shot next time I buy ground beef.
When I was very young we lived in the mountains west of Tucson and our neighbor would make a large batch of Picadillo several times a month. He used and I still today make it with olives and raisins or dates serving it over rice. Over time it's become a what you have dish, mushrooms and squash also go very well. The older I get onions and some kind of pepper are now mandatory, usually fresno or jalapeno but also serrano if I haven't used them all up. This looks really good though, definitely trying this.
I think that's a Philippino version with the olives and raisins
I love meat with dates or raisins.adding chopped walnuts is also yum. My recipe calls for cinnamon and tumeric. Serve with bread or over rice.
@@MARILYNANDERSON88 Cinnamon and turmeric absolutely, are amazing. My dad talked me into getting an "insta" pot and I love adding spices to rice now, sometimes randomly! Black tea, mint and habanero is pretty good. You get so much more from the spices you put in compared to cooking it in a clay pot, stock pot or steam basket. Peppercorns, dried chilies, all kinds of spices. Just don't add salt or too much fat, at least with my instapot. On mine it messes with the cook time (undercooked rice) and causes foam to come out the steam vent with too much fat. Regardless, I need to try walnuts with rice. I love them, especially in the Fall with pumpkin. PORK IN A PUMPKIN, pork shoulder, mushrooms, walnuts, a dark beer and seasoning (I like pork fat, cayenne, white pepper, worcestershire , a few bay leaves). Sear meat and stuff in pumpkin (pie pumpkin) and roast for 6hrs. Sorry for memory vomiting on you, but now I have to try walnuts with my rice!
@@Mistserpent I love my instant pot also. we can have fun experimenting with taste and nutrition.
@@msKita43 the Cuban version can have olives and raisins too.
I really love that comal you're using! I need one of those for sure
Happy Father's day, Arnietex!
Looks delicious. Can't wait to try it. Wish I had the griddle. 😋
That look incredibly tasty.
This dish reminds me of Harvester stew, nice.
Glad I found your channel, delicious !
I love all your videos, and they all make me wanting to cook and enjoy. Gracias!!
As Tejana living Virginia, you remind me of home. Picadillo with rice and beans was and still is a favorite. Harlingen and Lara's bakery is what I miss the most. The folks are Lara's should seriously get a RUclips channel, but hey thanks for letting me go home for a few minutes.
I’m moving back to Texas soon, I can’t wait to have good food again.❤️
Thank you. Looks delicious
I use to be able to get a picadillo mix at the stores here (either Fred Meyers or Safeway, don't remember which), I think it was the Cuban version, it had green olives and raisins in it. Bit different spice mix then normal tacos as well as some more vegies, I'll definitely give this a try, thank you again. I need to try flour tortillas, maybe I'll have better luck then with corn, I can't seem to get them down.
Around here in Hebbronville Picadillo was always made with “ Liebre “ or JackRabbit meat, it’s really good.
Yes! We call it Comino indeed!
Mmmmm... my kind of meal, right there!
WoW that came out awesome 👍
I made this for dinner tonight. So delicious! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your love of cooking. I’m contemplating the made in griddle 😮
We lived in California and blessed to have so many friends who taught me about their favourite Mexican kitchen recipes Oh my gosh. We are addicted. Table salsas, carnitas , we are very blessed to have this in our hearts and brains 😋
Your Picadillo con Papas looks amazing! Thanks for the great video!
I’m not Mexican but can’t wait to learn more recipes, I want to be able to cook these flavorful meals for my future lady if there ever comes a time so thank you for sharing all your content with us @ArnieTex I also just prefer meals from other places don’t get me wrong a pizza is nice here and there but I like to explore with flavor and zest and it’s these meals that make my exploration helpful. Once again thanks Arnie for making such quality content and providing the viewers with a quality result. That said I would like to see ingredients in the description of the videos details on prep times and more. If not totally fine with me, have a great weekend and I can’t wait to see what this video brings to the table.
I’m glad you added the extra pound of meat 👍👍👍
me too lol
My family made ours with raisins and almonds!
There are so many variations!
Congrats on your Texas Monthly article, Arnie. It's how I discovered your RUclips channel.
Thank you, glad you saw it, is an honor to be featured
I make this all the time! Although I only use papas and green chilies I don’t add the verduras. And I add a can of El Pato at the end 😊
Wow! Looks delicious!!!!!!!! Thanks for
I’d love a corn tortilla tutorial..guess I just need to practice though. The organic masas out there smell so good, but I’m not consistent yet w thickness, cooking, etc etc. My enchiladas I made are fantastic, even w clumsy tortillas! Used the King Arthur organic masa…
0:10. That's South Texas soul food right there. I make mine outside in my paella pan. Glad to see those mesquite spatulas in action.
My guy always crushing it
3:25 Huehue, he knew :D
Lezzetli oldu efendim afiyet olsun
WOOOOW👍Superb! We love it. Respected friend we really enjoyed your video from start to finish.🙂Stay blessed!👍Keep it up!🙂God bless you abundantly forever 🙂🙂Enjoy amazingly blessed week 🙂🙂Stay happy and well protected.🙂
I love making picadillo, I make it about once a week. Ty arnie for a whole bunch of awesome recepies and videos 💙🤝
Is there a recipe for the tomato sauce or is it just crushed roasted tomatoes? Looks amazing!
Oh, Buddy is so cute! I don't mind if he is in your videos Arnie. He knows when he smells something good :-)
This channel always makes me hungry.
Grew up eating this. It's my favorite, and CHEAP to make! With flower tortillas and limon.
Love your content. This looks fantastic! Also, that’s such a great yard! Keep up the good work!
Love you BRO
I learned how to make Piccadillo from a man from Cuba.
I substitute ground venison for the hamburger meat and use a large can of Rotel instead of tomato sauce.
Love your stuff sir.
Nice Piadillo Compas!
Yum,yum❤❤❤
Arnie, I love you buddy. Your videos are awesome. I want to cook everything you do. Im going to try. Thanks for sharing!
I cook mine about the same, onions, garlic and potatos. I never have put peas, carrot in it, but I will try it. Last time I made it, I cooked some fideo and threw it in the mix, it was a big hit.
Potato picadillo, or chayote or plátano verde, whatever! I love picadillo! I always look forward to your antics and dancing at the end of your videos! 🎉🎉
My mom made this all the time. Unfortunately she is no longer with us. Brings back a lot of memories.
Glad to share some memories cheers 🍻 I’m sure there were beautiful times with you Mom
@@ArnieTex there was I do want to try your recipe for sure though. I might have hers I need to look at her recipe book.
My mom used to make that when I was a kid. She would serve it over mashed taters. She called it ghoulash. Yumm
Looks great 😊
We called it papas con carne. Arnies is carne con papas!! Too dry compared to how we used to have it and Im from the Valley. We wont always agree in the recipes of our mothers but I have used your vids to recall flavor profiles Id lost with my grandparent and parents passing. Great channel
Well, he said he was just showing how to make it on a grill so it doesn't have the juice it normally would.
@@LoriL010 with Arnie and mom
im sure its delicious. We used to do straight beef called carne picada or add ejotes or chicharo too
That's just good eating.
Hi Arnie. Big hugs from Calgary Alberta Canada We were craving Piccadillo so I made it Watching your videos is just motivating. I did add a tiny bit of beef broth and we did have it with “Mexican spoons 😅
Can't wait to get this going, Arnie...Cheers
When i was little my mom would make picadillo in a caldo, ive never had it like this
Fire 🔥
¡El picadillo se ve increíble! Yo hago el mío con menos verduras, pero lo voy a probar así.
Comino es mi ingrediente secreto!! I love the taste!
You’re the man Arnie!
I love your food Arnie!
This looks like the picadillo my aunt makes... and my mouth was watering when i saw it at the end.
that picadillo with arroz blanco? and a tomatillo serrano green salsa? Bruh...
AND A COKE 🤤
Gotta have papas in my picadillo!
So goooood
Now that looks tasty 🤤
I miss my grandma's picadillo, and the endless tortillas she'd bring me before I was done with the last three.
omg imagine you and Kent Rollins making some yummy food. daaaaaaannnnggggggg
No más nos falta las gorditas! 🤤
For some really good seer on ground beef or burgers mix in about ¼tsp baking soda per pound. Seers good!
Delicious looking recipe. Quick question: I'm guessing those potatoes were already boiled, or par-boiled before he threw them on the griddle?
No they were freshly diced, the trick is to not have them too big, they cook quick like that
@@ArnieTex Awesome thank you Arnie! Gonna try it this weekend. Stay dry my friend.
Thumbs up baby👍😎
Looks amazing though
Nice yard, buddy!
