TRIP REPORT | Best Airline in India | Delhi to Paris CDG | VISTARA Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

- Vistara Trip Report flying from Delhi to Paris onboard one of the Vistara Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a beautiful winter day.
A comfortable flight from New Delhi to Paris onboard the Vistara Boeing 787-9. The Vistara Boeing 787 is quite comfortable by itself, but today we managed to have the middle seat empty, so that made it even better.
We took off from Delhi towards the west and continued in a southwesterly direction for almost 2 hours. We turned then to the right, already over Iran, and started to cross this country from southeast to northwest. We left Tehran on our right and then made a left turn towards Turkey. We flew all over the north of Turkey, from east to west, and finally entered the Black Sea, flying towards Bucharest.
We entered Bulgaria to the north of Varna and flew north of Bucharest, Timisoara, Budapest, Bratislava, and Vienna. We entered the Czech Republic and flew towards Germany... and, finally, we reached Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, where we landed on runway 08L.
Let's talk about the onboard service: a few days before this flight I did a Paris to Mumbai with Air France. The service offered by Vistara was really ahead of the Air France one. Actually, I would say this brand-new airline is ahead of basically every European long-haul economy class in 2023. While the European airlines don't care about what they offer to eat on an 8h+ flight, these Middle Eastern and Asiatic airlines know that it's really important if you want the passengers to want to repeat with you in the future.
There were 2 services on this flight: 2 main services (lunch and dinner). For lunch, they offered a vegetarian option or chicken with Indian style. Of course, I went for the chicken. It was really spicy, but it's what you expect on an Indian airline, don't you? The meal came with a chick pie salad, bread & butter, and a delicious chocolate brownie and vanilla cake.
The dinner came around 2 hours before landing in Paris. This time was something that I don't know the name of, but it was obvious that it was something typical from India. I don't know how to describe them... All I can say is that I ate it like Mexican Tacos... and it tasted amazing. Better than great. Delicious.
By the way, the crew made an attempt to dim all the windows just after lunch. That's something the cabin crew can do from their panel but something that the majority of airlines already told them not to do. Passengers that are seated on the window seats are there because they want to see. Blocking the windows just because that way it will be a better rest period for the cabin crew is really egoist. And this is the reason why you don't see almost any Boeing 787 Trip Reports on the channel. I actively try to avoid flying on the B787 for this reason. I'm not going to accept that my window is dimmed when I paid for that seat.

True. The flag carrier airline does not need to have the country's name. Qantas, KLM, Lufthansa, and El Al are all flag carrier airlines without the country's name.
Indeed ! And many others like Aer Lingus, Avianca, LOT, etc
They are in a sense, same managers and effective culture. The Tatas know their stuff, give them the runway.
I'm really impressed with this airline and it will indeed be a shame to see it go. Thanks for another great report!

Bangalore airport also has tons of charms just like Mumbai.
To be honest I prefer Mumbai over Delhi any day, and that extends beyond the airport. I felt Mumbai was a lot cleaner than Delhi, India’s capital city needs to make more effort in making itself respectable.

Me falta añadir que Vistara me parece buena compañía aérea y el avión muy nuevo, 3 años. No he subido nunca. A ver si cuando me jubile, salgo de mi zona de confort.
Mucho me temo que para cuando te jubiles ya no habrá posibilidad de volar con Vistara. Si todo va como planeado, le deben quedar unos 12 meses de operación antes de ser absorbida por Air India =/

While the merged airline would operate under the Air India brand, the intent is to raise the standard of service. Singapore Airlines would hold a 25.1% stake in the combined carrier, and any avgeek knows SQ isn't going to tolerate shabby.
Well... you know, that's always the plane to get approval by the authorities... then they will "adapt" it to the market needs.
The only way to guarantee a good service is by having a good competitor and Vistara is definitely a good one.
So what about Scoot?
@@dragon32210 - Scoot is a LCC, not a legacy carrier. The services model is quite different. While the trip reports I've viewed on Scoot portray them as a lackluster subsidiary, SQ is uncompromising with its mainline product.
We may see a similar division between Air India and Air India Express.

i am the same way when it comes to the 787. i avoid it at all costs. did not always fell like that. but the flight on air europa from madrid to miami in 2021 when they locked the windows closed made never want to fly the 787 again (i thought air Europa was good. i would fly them again no issues there. only the 787 was bad,).
you reives are great. i love how you combine the review with spotting. the only knock i would have (only because i am an avgeek) is when you sit aft of the wing if you could show the flaps every time they move when landing, instead of just the very end when they are fully extended.

What a nice view from the Eiffel Tower! So pretty! I also share your feelings on the Boeing 787 windows, I ALWAYS ask the crew to unlock (they often don't do it) and if they don't I write a complain on the customer feedback e-mail some airlines send. So annoying!

So that’s interesting about the windows in the 787. For me it was the main reason to like it, because they are so big and also when dimmed you could still see out (but the brightness was reduced). I only flew on the 787 twice and both times didn’t have any time where I could not see out (even when the crew controlled them). It sounds like there is an extra low setting that I haven’t seen yet, and I would also hate that but have been lucky so far I guess.
You were lucky the I guess. Or you had a respectfull crew.
Also Please make a series on Indian Low cost carriers like Air India express, Indigo, Akasa Air etc
That will come to the channel at some point, but nothing is planned for now... Maybe in 2024.

Great video as always. The dimming by the crew is a ridiculous idea in my view. The cost would have been better spent on outside cameras. I am like you I much prefer to watch the diverse countryside that can be seen through the windows. You can watch film’s and sleep at anytime but often the view is a one time opportunity. Anyway. Also, the problem with these windows is that on longer flights, if you want to look outside, even if the windows aren't blocked, you will be bothering the passengers next to you that want to sleep when you "open" all the window (which is huge, by the way). With the "traditional" windows is much easier, as you can open just the lower part and, while you can see perefctly, not much light enters the cabin...

I want to ask you on all long haul flights can you go to the galley to get something more to eat or drink ? As they do not say anything on the flight as I’ve flown from Manchester to Malaysia quite a few times but never told about the extra you can pick if you want them

@@OnBoardHD New livery will most likely be released next month when India celebrates 75th Independence Day. As AI is targeting businessmen & corporates, Maharaja mascot will be dropped but will be used in lounges. New livery will be shown next month on new A350 which will be inducted in November.

Both are operated by the same brand after disinvestment of Air India. It was a government carrier which was then purchased by Tata, also operating Vistara.
So the service of Vistara would survive as Tata aims to uplift the state Air India is in.

I noticed the flight path took the plane over the war zone in Ukraine. Are planes trying to avoid the contested airspace over Ukraine or are they risking it by through it.
Not a single commercial plane overflies Ukraine since the war started. And this flight was no exception.
What you have seen on the seat screen is just the shortest way from Delhi to Paris. That's not the exact route the plane followed.

Me gusta el aeropuerto de Delhi, tiene todo lo que a mi me gusta, tiendas para comprar, etc, jejejejej. Vaya ruta preciosa, si yo fuera en el avión no paro de mirar por la ventanilla. Dormir en este vuelo es un sacrilegio. No entiendo lo de las ventanillas si la compañía aérea dice que no se hace. No me gusta que me controlen mi ventanilla. Luego decimos los pasajeros que se come mal en los aviones, mentira mentira. LLevo viéndote varios videos que te pones las "botas" con la comida, jajajja. La verdad es que las comidas tienen una pinta estupenda, han mejorado desde que yo no vuelo a través del océano Atlántico. En los vuelos cortos, ni agua. París al anochecer, ayyyyy que envidia¡¡¡¡¡ Cómo me gusta París, aunque no he ido todavía, por desgracia. Bueno, te comento, que ya he volado por primera vez después de la pandemia. A donde ya te imaginas, a Mallorca. Fántastico el vuelo con Iberia. Tu primer viaje desde la India, maravilloso. Un abrazo muy grande Lucas.l

Fantastic video again! I rarely watch videos on eco flights..but yours of course i watch. This is because I enjoy flying the way you do: watching out of the window and trying to remember geography. And I too do never understand why people watch stupid movies while outside you see the world in all her beauty..and i love the way you show it. I also hate, hate, hate airlines which lock windows during day flights from east to west..its just hazard to your health and the jet lag. American carriers were infamous for that on flights towards the US..but it seems it is changing. And
it is also mainly a problem of flying eco..nobody ever asked me to close my window in business class. Food looked phantastic. Just wonder: could you also have got beer and wine with the meal? You are right: this product really puts europeanc arriers to shame - noably also my flag carrier LH. PS: great attitude of indian people with the baby!

Yeah, I heard that they got so many complains by the passengers that the airlines send msgs to all the crews to stop locking the windows. I personally try to avoid long-haul on the B787 for that reason.
To be honest, I don't know if they were offering beer... I never drink beer on a plane. Just my glass of wine with the main service is al I take :))

El servicio en las aerolíneas asiáticas a años luz. En europa los servicios han decaído mucho, sobre todo los del grupo lufthansa con su famosa ensalada de solo lechuga o iberia con sus desayunos de risa
