    I love the designs on the coasters with this technique. I know that you seem to prefer the Pebeo & DecoArt products but some years ago, I used a glass paint to colorize some of my wood burnings. It's called Gallery Glass. Many years later the painted sections are still translucent with no yellowing. I may try it out on a resin project once I get going with them. It might give me a stained glass look without any mixing with either of those gloss varnishes. Thanks again for doing all of the testing for us and providing the results!

    Great video of your techniques and beautiful creations and a very talented artist you are! If I may, I have a few questions regarding the resin dyes mixed with the gloss varnish and drying before I invest my time and money. I'm familiar with various varnishes as I use them in my artwork, however I've never tried these resin dyes. 1)Would you know in your experience How color fast are they, for example in sunlight? 2) Do these resin dyes dry completely after they are mixed with the varnish? I see on your video that used alone they do not dry, and from what I've read on reviews of the resin dyes, they do not dry like an alcohol ink. You used a drying tool to speed up the drying process for purposes on this video, but wondering did it eventually air dry later and would I be safe to assume because they are mixed with the varnish as in a faux stain glass project they would dry and be translucent? Thank you, Ursula from Canada.

      💖thank you, glad you found this video helpful. For the resin dye (I'm speaking specifically about Let's Resin...I haven't tried others). Yes when mixed with the gloss varnish it air dries completely dry ... I only used the heat gun to speed it up for the video. In terms of light fastness... I haven't had any issues with fading... but I don't recommend putting any resin pieces in direct sunlight because resin yellows quickly in UV light/ sunlight. Hope this helps!

    Thank you for this very informative vid. About coasters ... When sealing the edges that have either been done with a paint pen, Deco Color Pen or with acrylic mixed with a medium as I just did today, is it better to brush, spray or let the topcoat of resin fall over? I hope I explained that ok 😃.

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  3 года назад +3

      If you're using those types of products for edges that need to be sealed... I would say pouring another resin topcoat and let it cover the sides... just make sure you tape or liquid latex the bottoms first to prevent issues with drips

    Nadia, nothing to do with this project, but what is Peobo lightening fluid used for or have you used it?

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  2 года назад

      I believe it's similar to a "thinner " (I think it used to be called a Thinner actually) which allows you to dilute your colours (make them more transparent) without affecting the quality of the paint. This is necessary for paints like vitrail and fantasy paints since they have special formulas and cannot be diluted by water or other typical thinners

    You could try a UV resin if you want to use resin, it won’t cure unless in uv light like sunlight

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  3 года назад +2

      There's a couple reasons why I wouldn't use UV resin in exchange of the varnish... UV resin yellows faster than countertop resin and you'd need to wear PPE when using UV resin (chemical respirator, gloves, goggles etc), but since the varnish i use is water based, PPE isn't necessary. And since I spend several hours painting, I prefer the comfort working with the varnish😅🥰🤩💖 That being said, I have heard other artist use UV resin for this type of technique and yes, it's definitely an option for those who want to do it that way🥰😁

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  3 года назад +1

      the pebeo varnish may be a bit too thick for that technique, i haven't tried it for that...but I used it for almost 2 years before I switched to DuraClear last year... it works for most everything else that I've made. Maybe try a thinner varnish like DuraClear
