Spider-Man 3 is like that one unsuspecting sibling that you find annoying, but then suddenly becomes really thoughtful and caring.
That's a nice way of putting it.

After all the emo dancing, then yeah, I totally agree
@Black Ninja Same here. It's my favorite Spider-Man movie

Peter forgiving The Sandman was a really powerful scene and is one of the most memorable scenes in the 3rd movie
This scene, and the one where he actually becomes the Sandman. My God, that is a beautiful sequence.

Frankly this scene is why I can’t hate SM3. Yes it has problems but this scene is beautiful.
@BLAIR M Schirmer Sam Raimi's brilliance and understanding of Spiderman still shines through. One of the most underrated filmmakers
Exactly, I dont hate this movie whatsoever. Depending on my mood I like it more than Spider-Man 1 sometimes
Most of the problems from Spider Man 3 come from some of the scenes in the middle. The entire movie was shot in a way that you get that really impactful ending.
Glitch Michaels That scene and the one where Peter gets out his old red suit are 2 of the best scenes in cinematic history and it had Sam Raimi written all over it. The last 20 minutes of Spider Man 3 are amazing

I've also gone through a spider man related arc of forgiveness. after spider verse, I learned to forgive Sony for the emoji movie.

Me to Sony: We all have a choice. You had a choice when you murdered Spider-man 4.
But luckily that did finally happen.
Sadly though, considering the drafted plot, it was a mercy killing. Even Sam Raimi couldn't go through with that.
Wasn’t the drafted plot something about peter cheating on MJ?
@@rorystrain6981 Yep. Basically, Peter and MJ would have been married, with a kid. The villain would have been Vulture who Peter ends up killing and Peter would have cheated on MJ with Felicia Hardy who would have been Vulture's daughter and called Vulturess. Then, Peter and MJ would have split and Peter once again would have quit being Spiderman.
Well, I can almost forgive them with Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.
When I saw this in theaters everybody clapped when Peter said "I forgive you"
TShirt4 bro I wish I could have seen this in theaters
The audience were actually pretty active when I saw it in theaters. I don't remember them clapping to Peter forgiving Sandman though.
TShirt4 doubt it

When I saw "Works" and "Spider-Man 3" in the title, I thought this was a BIAM. But I realized that this movie probably isn't even bad enough to be a masterpiece.

Besides the forgiveness scene, that scene where Aunt May tells Peter that he has to forgive himself to know how to start the process REALLY hits hard for me. It taught me that line I will tell my kids if they’re in a similar scenario, it’s such great writing

Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.da
Honestly, I wish Sony didn't push Raimi to do things he didn't want to, I feel like if they didn't we would've had a strong trilogy with all 3 films being fantastic
Imagine a Spiderman 3 where it's just Harry and Sandman as the villains. No stupid Venom, no emo Peter Parker cringe, no punching Mary Jane. That would've been a good finale, but of course Sony fucked that up.
Trilogy? Hell no
It would've been a series of atleast 4-5 movies....
On the flip side however if Sony hadn't screwed up, we wouldn't have had Spidey in the MCU now
@@rahulray9983 actually, he only was going to make another trilogy BECAUSE Raimi didn't like 3
Book Worm if they let him do his thing Tobey would probably be the MCU Spider Man. A 4th, 5th and even 6th film were planned
I wished Venom and Lizard-Man were villains in Spider-Man 3
Something about Dinkovich saying “he’s a good boy” after Peter yells at him shows a) Dinkovich cares and b) reminds us Peter is indeed a good person
There are a lot of people in Peter's life who aren't necessarily good but who feel a fatherly bond to him. Perhaps he sees pieces of Uncle Ben in many different people
"I've done terrible things too..."
We all know Peter was thinking about that dance he did.
No.
He's obviously talking about being few minutes late to PIZZA TIME.
Excuse me, THAT scene in spiderman 3 was a CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE. Not even Quentin Tarantino can top that beautiful ballet-like montage.
He was thinking about yelling at his landlord about fixing the damn door.
@@stinkerpops No, but on a serious note. It unironically ended up being the most iconic cinematic dance scene ever. Hardly doubt that it was the intention upon filming though.

You’ve touched on why I don’t completely write off Spider-Man 3. The film was clearly trying to tell a story with the themes being displayed through the characters. On paper it has some good ideas, but it’s not firing on all cylinders. Conceptually, I think the themes in Spider-Man 3 might work a bit better than Spider-Man 2, but the execution of the overall film isn’t as good.
Subway fight was awesome bank fight was awesome venom fight was dope
Nitro- Verse
The train fight was awesome.
You can thank executive meddling & studio interference for that.
Vanlalkim Hangsing yeah sony wanted too many villains thankfully raimi is directing the new dr strange.
I think the main issue Spiderman 3 has is, ironically, trying to do too much at once, probably best demonstrated with the villains. New Goblin, Sandman, and Venom all introduced and two thirds of them killed off, all within one film!
Of course it's gonna be nigh impossible to execute that well!
But despite this, it still has the signature Raimi soul. The goofiness, the sincerity, the dedication to the themes.
I love this movie and there is a reason why that scene made me cry and it took ages to watch it without doing that.
"And he then proceeds to eat the camera"
i'm dead
P.S- I actually love this movie despite its flaws
Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.da
Such an underrated scene. In the previous movies, the philosophy of "we always have a choice" was an overarching message. Rather than focusing on the choices of Spiderman, this movie focused on the choices of a villian, whose decisions to rob and murder feel so vial and disgusting. Only for Peter to understand later that Sandman acted in the interest of saving his daughter, he realizes he isn't the only one who has made tough choices in life. In the end, Peter acknowledges the pain he has caused others and forgives the man who had killed his father figure.
A 10/10 scene that should receive much more analysis than it does.
Dunno why this movie gets such a bad rap. It was good in my opinion. Most profitable Spider-Man of all time
Truthfully, profit =/= a good movie, but I do agree that the movie is good and gets way too much hate.
I love this film Honestly
Its good but its weak compare to spiderman 1 and 2
Your face matches your comment perfectly 👌🏾
It's mainly just the Venom aspect of the movie which killed it for most everyone
I don't care what anyone else thinks, Spider-Man 3 is AMAZING. On par with the first 2. I saw this movie when I was 9 years old. Now I'm 21, and I genuinely cry at the ending every single time. I can resonate and understand the themes of the first and second movies, but the meaning behind SM3 really hits close to home. So many moments in my life where I could have held onto anger and revenge. During those moments I always think about this movie, and how much it means to me. I truly think this is a movie that has changed me for the better.
Still my fav movie in the trilogy
I never know there was a deleted scene, until you show us
It's in the novelization of the film.
@@user-vt6td9hp3g for one, I never know there was a deleted scene that shows the Sandman visits his daughter in a form of giant sand castle
In the editor's cut, Harry Osborn helps Peter in the final battle after he notices a broken picture frame, showing Peter, MJ and Harry.
I always really liked the ending of Spider-Man 3 and thought it was the high point of the film, and I always cried when I was younger. I knew the film had the theme of forgiveness but I've never went that deep. I welled up.

Ngl whenever I rewatch this scene, I remember how powerful it is. Everytime peter grabs his suit from the suitcase I hear ben's words in my head, "with great power, comes great responsibility", and ik positive peter remembered them too. I agree that it is one of the raimi and spidey film scenes period. I would definitely put this in my top 10 spidey moments in film.
That was very well said. I'm not crying.... I'm chopping onions :'O

Spiderman 3 is a beautiful I've watched this film a lot amazing fight scenes and sandman one of the best villians in the trilogy
He's the best.
The thing with Sadman and Peter's conversation is, as they are talking the camera gets closer and closer, signaling that the two of them are also getting closer to understanding each other.
I finished the paper and I rushed to watch this but damn your analysis is very heartbreaking. Symbolism I never noticed before is now revealed to me.
Thor was stalling Ultron in the example you gave at around the 2:00 mark, that was the purpose of the gag where he says something to the effect of "I'm running out of things to say"
Still a terrible movie which made no sense continuity wise

I remember seeing this movie in theaters with my dad. That scene where Peter forgives Flint had us both in tears. Moreso than in the second movie where Otto got a hero's death and ultimately conquered the evil influence of the artificial intelligence implanted in his nervous system.
I really love the themes raimi was able to portray, and I love the way he directed action scenes, he was flexible and used his powers wisely and could take a hit too, and every now and then they’d cut in actual people with all the cgi, and I think it just feels more immersive that way

I’m so glad you dedicated a moment of the video to that wonderful scene of Peter pulling his classic suit out of the briefcase and Elfman’s score swelling heroically but almost as if it’s a tad unsure. I found myself with goosebumps after watching that scene when I watched the movie again for the first time in about 9 years. Just wanted to display my appreciation of your acknowledgment of it cause I feel like it isn’t talked about enough. Great video, man! Keep up the good work
Amazing analysis.... I also have to learn how to let my anger go.... and forgive myself for past mistakes.
I think over time, people are starting to understand Spider-Man 3 more and more. Yes, it’s not as good as the other two. But the messages and themes and meaning are still there. That’s the genius of Sam Raimi, that’s why we all still talk about these films and love the memes.
How, looking at the themes of Spider-Man 3 was enough to make me look at the film at a better light.
How dare you!
Spiderman 3 is the one movie that has stuck with me for nearly 2 decades, my all time favorite movie. I am thankful to have found your channel, very awesome.
Ok it has inconsistencies but I still love this film. Beautifully explained
When this movie came out i was still a little kid. When i saw it on the theaters i loved it. As the years went past I realized many people didn’t like the movie because of its over stuffed nature but i never stopped liking it. The movie has heart. It is sincere and still has that raimi magic in bits and parts. What a trilogy it was... certainly special.
Thomas Haden-Church absolutely killed it in this movie. Can't wait do see what Marvel does with him in NWH
I saw the editor’s cut and it redeemed the movie for me. So happy I grew up with these movies.
Another thing I absolutely loved about this scene was the music. When sandman appears behind Peter and says "I didn't want this", the music turns sinister and low, implying the Sandman has bad intentions and Peter and him are gonna fight. Then when sandman says "My daughter was dying" the harsh trumpets turn into a soft piano, showing that sandman isn't going to fight and has no intention of harming Peter
Love how you were even still able to pluck what little gem that this somewhat despised movie had within itself and shared your thoughts on it with the audience, while further raising people’s awareness about it as well. Now do a video about how important Peter’s rent to Mr. Ditkovitch really was
Peter to Eddie: You want forgiveness? Get religion.
Peter to Flint: I forgive you
The Last of Us Part 2 used 30 hours to depict the same "forgiveness over revenge" theme but falls short of what Spider-Man 3 captured in this scene alone
I always loved the way that sandman fades away after Peter forgives him.
It’s like a bad memory fading away. When Peter forgives Marko, he’s really forgiving himself.
Ugh.. When i was younger these movies were such an inspiration mentally. Part 3 at the time, i was disappointed. But when you relook the trilogy. It's actually a masterpiece..
Can't believe I actually cried wow, just a great video
We all know the best scene in the trilogy is Peter dancing out in front of the department store.

Acosi Pardo it’s in the editors cut
The music is so good, make the scene so powerful
That’s why I think that this movie represents Forgiveness.
The first movie represents Responsibility.
And the 2nd represents Sacrifice.
Honestly, this had me tear up a bit.
An incredibly beautiful scene which is actually the only moment in a superhero film that brings me to tears. Received way more hate than it deserved.
Agree, Spider-Man 3 may be one of the most disappointing films, but there are some really great moments like this
its the most dissapointing in the sam raomi trilogy, but still tops alot of superhero films today and definitely tops TASM trilogy
@@bradporter8110 The TASM series only has two movies. So no trilogy there.
TASM1 is underrated.
@@bradporter8110 and it tops those terrible Iron Man Jr movie as well.
This film is an anomaly, as its categorised as a bad superhero film. Often when you consider bad superhero films, Green Lantern, Blade Trinity, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Suicide Squad etc spring to mind.
Sadly, Spiderman 3 is unfairly mentioned in the same breath because it makes some weird and inexplicable choices. However, there are so many things it does well that it's almost criminal to call it a bad film. It most definitely is not a bad film.
Some of the action is breathtaking, the scene where Flint becomes Sandman is hauntingly beautiful, Harry's arc comes to an end in heroic yet tragic fashion and as you've pointed out, the theme of revenge and forgiveness for the most part is admirably handled.
Despite its shortfalls, this is a worthy addition to the trilogy and unlike TDKR. The Spiderman trilogy feels incomplete without part 3. But I honestly think The Dark Knight is a masterpiece if viewed as a Duology and only above average if viewed as a trilogy (Yes I think TDKR sucked).
I loved spider man 3 no matter anyone says because of nostalgia but great video a lot of work put in these masterpieces = awesome videos
I love Spiderman 3 and it has nothing to do with nostalgia.
I've always loved Spider-Man 3, despite its flaws it's a movie full of heart and a good message, like you said of forgiveness.
This movie has a very special meaning to me, not becasue of the movie itself but what happened in my life while it was on theaters, thanks so much for doing this video, you made me smile and I respect that❤️
Imagine if there'd been a scene earlier in the film where Peter actually meets Flint Marko's daughter Penny, and learned the truth while he was still under the impression that he'd actually killed Sandman? It would be then that Peter would realize just what he had done. In his carelessness, and selfishness, he'd taken a sick little girl's father away from her, not avenged his Uncle Ben's death on a cold-blooded murderer. As this realization sinks in, he would recall Aunt May's words "Revenge is like a poison. It takes us over. And before you know it, it turns you into something ugly.", and possibly even Uncle Ben's words "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility". Peter runs away in horrified remorse, and, this coupled with how he'd hurt MJ, and Harry, is what makes Peter finally get rid of the black suit. Later, Peter not only tries to give back the wedding ring to Aunt May, but he also almost quits being Spider-Man again, believing that he'd failed as a hero. But then, Venom, and Sandman make their movie in the climax, forcing Peter back into action.
Great video, hope this series continues
"She's still singing. And he's still in the first row." That killed me. How dare you make a grown man cry like that.

I grew up with the Raimi films and won't forget Spider-Man 3 being my first ever Hollywood movie in theatre haha
What a treat to finish the school day with a video from Browntable. Perfection.
Despite its problems, I feel like the greatness outweighs the flaws. It still feels like a grounded piece of fiction, a look into pride and ego, owning up to your mistakes and being honest with yourself and others, and then…..forgiveness. What I love the most about Spider-Man 3 is this movie is not a movie ruined by studio interference, it’s a movie that is actively FIGHTING against studio interference. Because Venom and part of Harry’s arc is trying to drown this film, but it’s doing it’s best to stay afloat and to be sincere. And this movie for the most part succeeds in being sincere.
I'm late on this video but I feel that you might have missed one more key detail of Aunt May telling Peter "forgive yourself"
I believe a main reason Peter lusted revenge as hard as he did in Spiderman 3 is because he couldn't forgive himself for not being able to save Uncle Ben, and he feels that it's his duty to at least find justice for him, but Justice at the hands of revengance will just lead more catastrophe and will it truly be Justice?
4:14 I remember as a kid that I would try to recreate this scene with my cheap Spider-Man costume. My mom would just find me waking up from a nap of me randomly playing in my costume
I remember as a child I actually cried with the ending of this film. This trilogy of movies have more going on than what people give it credit for.
This scene and the Sandman scene after he got turned into Sandman are some of the most powerful scenes I've seen in a superhero flick. The score even gave them more gravitas
My man, I cannot tell you how much I love your videos. 6:51-7:05 is phenomenal, I did this mix of laughing and crying thing that I do. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing and while most know this, a simple reminder can be a warm kindling to the heart. Continue with the GOOD work man!

why not use that lighting explosion power?
1:38 - 1:40 "And killed his father"
Spiderman has not killed a single enemy in that trilogy, Norman killed himself. What was Spiderman supposed to do take the glider to the back and inevitably join Norman in death

Yes! I love just how many people are making more videos appreciating this movie, it's honestly still great, stinks that Raimi himself is somewhat ashamed of it, sure it wasn't everything he, or even the audience wanted it to be. I disagree with you on the symbiote. Yes, Peter's anger and resentment and aggression were absorbed by the symbiote, but Eddie also had a lot anger and hate and a thirst for vengeance against Peter for exposing and humiliating him. And the symbiote? It's also feeling anger and resentment because it was rejected by Peter. Once Eddie and the symbiote came together, they both found in each other a hatred and thirst for vengeance against Peter. Eddie and the symbiote were both rejected and alone and ostracized and were both angry and resentful and wanted revenge.
Every time i see this scene always make me cry
Four parts of Spider-Man 3 have improved my opinion of it over time.
1. 1:23 the shot of him in his room sitting away from the people he cares about
2. The best suit-up scene in the series after not putting on the original suit since the beginning of the movie.
3. Spidey forgiving Sandman for accidentally killing Uncle Ben.
4. The theme of forgiveness following through all the way to the end of movie
Like I said, my opinion of this movie has improved with time.
Spider-Man 3 is my favorite Spider-Man movie and this scene has a lot of the reasons why in it.
