    i feel really weird, but for some reason when he gave the example of the other two aunt mays before Marisa Tomei I got kind of emotional... there is something so touching about the relationship of Peter and his aunt that the new movies really miss...

Hardcore MCU fans remind me of Beyonce fans with the hive mindset, looking down at other fandoms because of the success of their own product, while at the same time lowkey exhibiting the worst traits that smaller fandoms of less successful properties exhibit out of jealousy . As an MCU stan, and especially as an Iron Man stan, I really dislike what FFH did with Tony's character arc. Both IM2 and HoCo already had villains that were based on Tony's shortcomings, and FFH includes as one of the "villains"...the guy that Stane yelled at? So that was already overused, but more than that, I hate what they did to Tony's legacy, especially after what he said in IM1 that he "had more to offer the world than things that blow up"....so he gives Peter Edith?
    Even if they wanted to touch on Tony's legacy, there's a pretty clear parallel to be made now about how Pepper and Morgan relate to May and Peter, because making the movie more intimate would have made it a lot better.

    • @yash_kapoor
      @yash_kapoor 4 года назад +1

      While I do think Spider-Man is tied too much into Iron Man in his movies, his introduction is actually genius, from a screenplay look at least.
      Let's think about this: you have a superhero, possibly the most popular superhero of all time, start off with two masterpieces, but then have a couple of mediocre to bad movies, and it is clear those who are currently in charge of said superhero don't know what they are doing. At the same time, you have these other people that are using the rules the most popular superhero of all time created to make good to great movies back to back about other superheros. Oh and the superhero that is doing bad actually belongs to the other superhero crowd.
      In order to, I guess "redeem" the great superhero, the people in charge decide to lend him to the other guys for a while. How do you reintroduce the character naturally without making it jarring into an story line that has been going on for LITERALLY YEARS.
      Spider-Man being introduced through Tony Stark is the perfect way to do it. Even HiTop Films did an entire video on why it was perfect, so you should check that out.

    • @simonegreco1958
      @simonegreco1958 4 года назад +3

      It comes natural given the state of the MCU
      The movies made Iron Man the most popular character

      They choose to address the inevitable elephant in the room

The remaining Spidey Villain battles, especially the Goblin battle, have their moments but the Ock fight is choreographed and executed as if it was straight out of the Raimi films. It was intense and lightning fast, just as Spidey fights should be. Everything else feels too tame by comparison

    Honestly, I believe the flaws of this character are to be blamed on Disney. In Civil War, the Russo Brothers perfectly had the character template laid out, especially during the little talk with Tony, "If you can do the things that you do, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you." In deleted scenes, though they are rather light hearted, they show that Peter Parker does have struggles (he sells his star war toys, but let's be honest this scene is here to sell star wars toys, so he can have money to have a passport, that is a real struggle) While I am still under the belief the John Watts has never read a comic in his life, he still understands that his protagonist has to have flaws, consequences and real struggles for the audience to relate to, but unfortunately all of that has been cut out from the final film. Imagine the very different Spider-Man we would have gotten if the Russo brothers had directed it, only in another dimension.

      litty committee I get that and when I say it breaks the lore I mean the time line, Peter’s origin and why if it was impactful then homecoming and far from home wouldn’t exist, the fact tony created Edith literally what ultron was supposed to be, almost as if he didn’t learn anything from sokovia in which civil war happened because he knew he was in the wrong, nick fury giving the glasses to peter a teenager when he didn’t even trust grow adults with simple information, as if he learned nothing from winter soilder, tony stealing technology from someone else while he was defending his own from the government, the snap having no serious effects on the world afterwards, all of this breaks the lore because of the characters were established which they are in pervious films to not do all that which I said it only means the mcu Spider-man movies breaks the mcu’s lore and downgrades Peter’s character and his villains

    • @obi3924
      @obi3924 4 года назад

      Hiccup Parker Edith is nothing compared to Ultron. Ultron was made with Loki’s scepter and became so powerful that Tony lost control of him. Nick Fury gave Peter the glasses because it was one of Tony’s last wishes. Even if you think Nick Fury should’ve been more untrusting, he was literally a Skrull in the movie. Tony didn’t “steal” Mysterio’s tech. He used it while Mysterio was still working for him. Mysterio wasn’t happy because tony named the system B.A.R.F. Tony eventually fired him because he was mentally unstable, as you can tell from watching the movie. The snap had serious effects on the world. High schoolers making jokes out of it really isn’t that unbelievable. It also wouldn’t make sense for the movie to start off as sad right after endgame. The way they handled the snap in the movie was actually pretty good. They didn’t break any “MCU lore” in the movie.

    • @ATalesTruth-
      @ATalesTruth- 4 года назад

      Yea Ok Ok for your comment on Edith, Edith is exactly what tony wanted ultron wanted to be from the get go, a suit of armor around the world but he made drones, it was tony’s fault that ultron happened because he wanted to you the mind stone to create a self thinking ai to protect the world, and he left Jarvis to keep running tests even thou he was unsupervised, if he was their when ultron was aware he could have stoped it, Jarvis was doing what he was introduced to do and right when he was going to tell tony ultron was already in control, so tony after learning that a self aware ai was bad what that tells us by make an ai that needs someone to command it shows he hasn’t learned no one should be that powerful, and tony said they would go to peter but he didn’t say when, here is the problem with the shrull argument they have the memories and thought patterns of who ever they mimic meaning yes talos knows what fury should have done thus this is the bad writing, you basically said talos doesn’t know what fury would do no he has his memories his experiences in his mind, he could answer any question fury may know depending on when he took his form, so we must treat talos as nick fury as fury introduced talos to take his place meaning one of 2 things fury is an idiot for even putting talos in charge, or that even if it was fury his actions are idiotic, as peter is till a kid shouldn’t he be given the glasses later on in life when he is of age, would fury destroy the glasses for that lesson of winter solider that captain America said this is not how you go about protecting the earth, as for tony i Agree he didn’t seal becks tech like clam ownership but he had the wheel of what they do with his creation and beck wanted to use it for a different purpose which tony didn’t agree with, beck even said his technology could have changed the world and he regretted that because tony said he doesn’t want to fund it in civil war he used it as an example of technology that could be used but something he will not, it’s basically like saying beck made something to get it of the ground but tony doesn’t want to and by beck trying to fight for his technology being used in another fashion tony fried him for trying to use his technology for what beck thought was just, that’s the issue with this as it’s the same thing with tony and the government, he created a technology that could change the world but the government wants to use it and tony doesn’t want them to have it, in this case tony is in the government position saying why beck your not going to use what you made because now it’s in better use-age as the way you use it is unethical that’s what happened, he is unstable afterwards, his defense of his technology is not unstable it’s reasonable to believe he was being professional about it and after losing that battle he became unstable due that he lost his life’s work would you be if someone took away all that you worked for, as for the snap it doesn’t seem to have even effected the world economically, functionally or emotionally, look at what this virus is doing now but times that by 5 years if not half of everyone was sick, then it were to stop do you think it would all be back up and running in 8 months no because nothing is fixed that fast, if it had been 2 years after everyone came back then yes it would, it’s as if the snap didn’t happen in the world as no one is really effected by it, it’s not even dramatic sad or stressedful to see people who spent years without their family look at ant man and his daughter look at tony thinking pepper was gone, what if she was snapped away oppressed to peter and imagine the effect that would have on people who had that happen to them, think about is Morgan wouldn’t be born and what would tony do, that’s the inback that’s missing, he’ll what if that happened to May thinking peter was gone for 5 years, what if he’s wasn’t snapped he be Older and changed what if that happened to Liz or Michael, of course these things didn’t happen to peter but they should be happening to half of everyone around him there is no drama not need to feel like there was something lost in all that Time, and making fun of it in school where that happened when parents may have had to live without their kids, imagine a kid who can back to that or siblings who grew up without younger or older ones or friends growing up probably forgetting them for the sake they don’t want to have the memory, if this movie were before endgame or infinity war you wouldn’t know the snapped happened or is things are different

MJ holding one of the drone projectors just HAPPENED to shoot out a FULL PROJECTION of the final elemental monster, in miniature size, despite being a single projector that has been shown to work in conjunction with other drones, at the RIGHT TIME, despite not tampering or touching the drone at ALL. I will admit, I loved the MCU spidey mainly because I finally got to see Spider-Man interact with the other Marvel characters and I believe that is where the problem is. The MCU (Disney) plays on our nostalgic memories of the wall-crawler and sets us up with something else entirely, eliminating the "drama" aspect of what made Spider-Man good. After listening to your opinion and looking back on the movies, I can see where you're coming from and from that draw my own conclusions on how I feel about the MCU's Spider-Man. In my honest opinion, I can agree with you; the MCU Spider-Man movies don't suck, but they are not Spider-Man movies. I was hoping that they would go further with what made Spider-Man so good in "Far From Home" but as I watched it, it was a no go. The comedy in the MCU is present in all of its movies I noticed, with the exception of "Captain America: Civil War" which played like a Mission Impossible/James Bond movie and I loved it. Actually, all of Captain America's movies were like that, little to no comedy in them. I started to see the comedy become a lot heavier after "Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2. Sorry for straying from the topic but what I'm trying to say is that "Spider-Man: Far From Home" was comedy heavy, destroying anything that made Spider-Man interesting.
    Thank you for making this video. I now have a new angle as to why this Spider-Man doesn't ring well with me. I like Tom Holland's take on the web-head, but with the way the MCU is handling things, I don't see this as the definitive "Great" Spider-Man we've all been wanting. Maybe in the future, one can only hope.

    If I remember correctly, depending on the material, the spider sense is attached to his trust and comfort. So if aunt may throws the banana at him he won't respond because he instinctively feels now threats. Which would explain Harry sneaking up on Peter in Spider-Man 3 and Peter struggling to see through the illusions because he has residual feelings towards mysterio

  • @liamtreat5194
    @liamtreat5194 4 года назад +10

    While about a third of your points were correct, the rest weren’t.
    Peter was not more active in spider-man 2, doc ock had kidnapped MJ and his experiment was going to BLOW UP NEW YORK, seems like the only logical choice was to fight him.
    MJ does matter to the plot, the reason Peter shrikes his responsibilities is to date her. Also she does have character, she was a one not a one note edgey girl, she was in homecoming, this movie showed she had a vulnerable side...like a real person. Also she has a motive for loving Peter, she wanted to see if he was spider-man, and fell in love along the way.
    Aunt May doesn’t just accept peter as Spidey, she uses him to help people, like that homeless shelter fundraiser...you know, looking out for the little guy.
    Peter couldn’t have been quite so poor, Tony/Happy wouldn’t let them go under.
    Mysterio is NOT someone screwed by stark, he was fired for being unstable, his work crew was screwed over but mysterio threatened TO KILL ALL OF THEM in one scene, which also proves he is unstable. Mysterio is a big guy pretending to be a little guy.
    Edith is totally in character for Tony, Spidey’s original suit had insta-kill, and while that was locked behind the training wheels protocol, that was there because he didn’t think peter was ready. Of course he thinks peter is ready to be an avenger at the end of homecoming, so he has thought peter is ready to kill people well before endgame.
    Peter looks up to Tony and feels so much in his shadow because peter, the world, and the audience, are fresh off of Tony sacrificing himself to SAVE THE UNIVERSE.
    Other than a few other points what you said was accurate. Peter definitely should have destroyed edith, and that bus scene could be much better the way you said it. However you missed alot of good things the film did, like peter and MJ’s relationship, or peters interactions with mysterio, specifically that illusion sequence, or just straight up get something wrong, like saying flash liking spider-man and disliking peter wasn’t set up, when it was, it was even in the trailers. Another problem is you present something not happening exactly how you thought it should’ve as wholly bad, when it often just happened in another way, or there is a reason it didn’t.

    • @ericdxfan511
      @ericdxfan511 4 года назад

      He didn't know about Ock's experiment until AFTER he became Spider-Man again and after he confronts Harry. The point of the cafe scene was for Peter to let go of Mary Jane and focus on being Spider-Man for the greater good.
      I get you're trying to defend the MCU films but there is no need to lie and twist things about Spider-Man 2 to fit your narrative.

    • @liamtreat5194

    • @liamtreat5194
      @liamtreat5194 4 года назад

      ericdxfan511 of course that doesn’t change the fact that Peter’s power don’t come back until MJ is in danger, which undermines his decision. Also Peter had quite passed the PONR of becoming spider-man again, and doc ock forces his hand. Peter should have been spider-man before the cafe scene, and while the power loss subplot is stupid, a better way would have Peter’s powers malfunction while he’s returning as spider-man, triggering the cafe scene.
      Personally, while spider-man 2 is a better pure spider-man film, I find FFH better if judged on its own merits and in the wider context of the MCU.

    • @ericdxfan511
      @ericdxfan511 4 года назад

      @@liamtreat5194 His spider-sense went off BEFORE Ock even kidnapped her so how does it undermine his decision to be Spider-Man again when he had ALREADY made up his mind at that point?
      Spider-Man's powers in the early comics can easily be affected if he's sick or stressed out. Peter for the majority of Spider-Man 2 was stressed out which is what caused his powers to malfunction.

    • @liamtreat5194
      @liamtreat5194 4 года назад

      ericdxfan511 But it was just his spider-sense. He was still without alot of his powers until the (admittedly awesome) moment at where he doesn’t need his glasses. While his powers malfunctioning is comic accurate, it’s still kinda dumb, since it undermines his decision to stop being spider-man, as rather than it just being a decision he makes to salvage his social life, there is an objective reason for him to stop being spider-man.

      Well for starters the film is technically co produced by disney they own marvel studios which co produced it with sony. The raimi films as grewt as they were just werent good Spider-Man stories. He was too mature in those films. Hes always got an immature side its why he as a character is built upon his quips he uses it as a coping mechanism instead of dealing with problems head on he makes it a joke. Thats the character in his rawest form. That and wanting to do good. I personally feel the only of the 3 live action iterations that fully understands "with great power comes great responsibility" ive been reading comics for 30+ years and tom just feels ripped straight out of the comics. Not against Vulture, not against Mysterio, not even in Endgame. You can't say that Raimi didn't capture him when Tom Holland does the same shit in his Spider-man films. And honestly, if you read Ultimate Spider-Man or heaven's forbid, Dan Slott's Spider-Man, then you get that immature Peter you boast about.

      @@cafeterialoca ive read ultimate ive also read many other versions too like spectacular and amazing etc. and toms Spider-Man quips multiple times in homecoming and far from home for example in homecoming "the illegal weapons ferry was at 10:30 you missed it" its a crucial part of his character that raimi ignored. I love the raimi films because they are great stories but they just arent great Spider-Man stories. Spider-Man stories are supposed to be inspiring. Growing up reading the comics and watching the cartoons the character always made me want to do better. And thats the inspiration i get from
      Toms Spider-Man he just wants to do good by people. He went on vacation but he never truly gave up being Spider-Man like tobey and andrew did because deep down toms knows he has the responsibility (i love every Spider-Man film i just feel toms have the best understanding of the character). In far from home the studio made watts cut out his quippiest scenes and when they released the extended cut in imax i went to see it and it made the film even better than it already was. Look up "peters to do list" he fights people in a restaurant and constantly makes quips for a good couple minutes. Spider-Man as a character relies on his quips as a coping mechanism to deal with his real world problems. I understand the issue people have with uncle ben not being in the mcu however im glad that they havent went all out with ben again. I wouldve walked out the theater if i had to see him die again. It would start to become the new batmans parents where he dies in almost every film. Tom embodies "with great power comes great responsibility" moreso than the trilogy that said it imo. @@Reelfilms1998 your opinion became completely void when you said raimi films weren't good spiderman stories, if the worst criticism you have to offer raimi's spiderman is cuz he barely quips, that's a nitpick in the grand scheme of things. And Tom's spiderman barely quips at all, and most of the time isn't funny (such as your example of the 'the illegal weapons ferry' etc) and same can be said Raimi's spiderman, cause his quips aren't that great either, if we're being honest, the one who quips the most would be Andrew Garfield's spiderman, with second place going to Peter B Parker from Spider-Verse, and they're actually funny a lot of the time
      "I personally feel the only of the 3 live action iterations that fully understands "with great power comes great responsibility" so imo, it would have made sense for the ending of Far From Home if Peter destroyed the EDITH glasses no?the glasses that are- in his words 'could kill my friends and half of Europe', it would have made a powerful demonstration of him letting go of Iron Man's legacy and stepping out of his shadow *like he wanted* by destroying the very source of all the problems in the movie, the DAMN EDITH GLASSES. but he keeps them, he can't make that kind of sacrifice cuz he doesn't seem to understand power and responsibility at all. If Spider-Man can sacrifice his love for MJ to keep her safe, and to continue keeping people safe(Raimi's spiderman), if Spider-Man can sacrifice his Aunt May to cure New York from a virus (PS4), if spider-man is willing to sacrifice himself to turn off a black hole under Brooklyn(Spider-Verse) he won't hesitate, so why can't Tom Holland's spiderman even destroy a pair of deadly glasses for the sake of other people? because of the sentimental value it holds to daddy Stark? lol
      "I love the raimi films because they are great stories but they just arent great Spider-Man stories. Spider-Man stories are supposed to be inspiring"
      "Supposed to be inspiring"... what a joke, Aunt May's speech regarding 'there's a hero in all of us' garners more heatfelt, inspiring message then Happy's ' even tony stark couldnt live up to iron man, your friends are in danger, what are you going to do?' shit any day, damn fam have you even watched Raimi's?
      "Toms Spider-Man he just wants to do good by people. He went on vacation but he never truly gave up being Spider-Man like tobey and andrew did because deep down toms knows he has the responsibility"
      he actually has a lot of wants, in Civil War he just wants to do his homework and look out for the little guy, then that drastically changes to him wanting to be an avenger for status/ego reasons and in the next he wants a vacation and to get with MJ, so yeah i'd like to think he helps people (as shown through out the films) but in FFH it comes off more as if its just a duty for him to help people, not because he wants to, plus him just sorta being passive about it like 'i dont wanna do this, but i'll do it anyway' is so uninteresting in comparison to raimi's spiderman actually giving up because his wants are conflicting with his ideals of responsibility, so there's 'risk', in FFH, there was no risk of Peter giving up being spiderman because the plot line, imo, was pretty predictable
      "Peter parker is supposed to have ironic bad luck like in far from home. In Spider-Man 2 yes he has bad luck but it makes me feel bad for him that life is constantly shitting on him. In the comics i never felt bad like i did with SM2"
      this just sounds like you don't want your own feelings getting hurt lol, your interpretation of bad luck is slipping on a banana peel, because Tom Holland's version of bad luck is having these really sweet headphones but not being able to share them with the crush that he automatically wins at the end of the movie, the crush that we, as an audience, already knew liked Peter back, so there was 0% any risk or tension in this movie of whether or not Peter would would get MJ. but apparently the likes of Spiderman 2 is just 'too much', but its ok- cuz the comics didn't make you feel bad, sounds like you dont remember that Ultimate Spider-Man issue where Green Goblin throws MJ off a bridge and then MJ breaks up with Peter because she doesn't want to be in a relationship with someone who could die the next day, or that issue where Peter Parker actually gets shot by police (at the age of 15) because he was trying to help,
      lmao, FFH is the embodiment of Peter's 'bad luck' while simultaneously gets to travel to Europe, have all these sweet tech, have people who knows he's spiderman and be entirely ok with it, have friends who are stupid and supportive, has the backing of Happy and all of Stark's personel, oh and did i forget the brand spanking new pair of glasses that can expose personal data?? nah its all good, he can quip, that's all that matters to you tho, like quiping is the fundamental thing of spiderman, but its only JUST spiderman tho, not Peter, cuz Peter can't exactly quip his way out of rent problems can he? or relationship problems, or job/highschool problems, which seems to not be a thing in MCU spiderman's films lol
      lmao, the OP was right, FFH is just a Disney plus MCU episode first, spiderman movie second, they dont get his character at all
