I feel it's worth mentioning eye stalks (And the associated weak point) actually make sense lore-wise. Bulborbs have a very very "specialized" anatomy - Half of their body is just the mouth, and the other half only exists to get that mouth as close to food as possible. Their main method of hunting is to simply run at a large group of prey, until they can open their spade-like jaw and scoop as many Pikmin. In this context, it would make sense for them to have eyes that extended outwards, so they can see past their own fucking nose and have a decent idea of what's underneath them. Also, the games make it very clear that Pikmin are really bad at jumping. - They only become airbone when a fucking space alien shows up and decided to lob them at anything that moves. But they do have a larvae stage and can be infected by plants AKA the peracetic Pikmin form which means they have a low body body temperature. Kind of like cordyceps fungus that infects ants. They created Bulbmins.
there is something i never understood in Pikmin 1 the "attacking their legs is also effective" yet if you swarm its legs it will star doing this thing where the bulborb will do a few steps in its place and when it does that it becomes immune to pikmin attacking it, then it start grabbing the pikmin and it just becomes this loop of pikmin not hurting it then get eaten its really misleading.
