I got the Sledge and the XRT. This car is my favorite out the box. Didn’t have to do anything to but put a battery in it and go. Both Sledge and XRT needed work right out of the box and was breaking stuff. Been running the ultimate for 4 days hard with not a single issue 😎

I’m not sure why you’re getting so upset at the truth, it’s no secret that traxxas has released many models in the past that were unready and needed aluminum hopups for reliability. They also have a history of garbage electronics, and the old slashes had driveshaft issues as well. This is coming from someone in the hobby over 15 years with plenty of experience, and I don’t abuse my stuff in the slightest. My team corally spark and even hpi vorza are stronger than pretty much every traxxas I’ve ever owned. The rustler is the one exception, slash ultimate isn’t bad either. For sledge prices I can get a Kraton 6s exb rtr, and that’s an easy choice in my opinion lol.
The legend of the Rustler continues. The versatility of the Rustler platform is what makes it so great. Only hop ups this thing will eventually need is a Hobby Wing ESC and some Proline Trenchers.

i just got back in to the rc world i really been wanting one of the rustler 4x4 ultimate. i have been suffering with ptsd and playing with my 1/16 e revo has been a big help with my anxiety its great therapy when i get the money ill be getting a rustler ultimate. thanks for all the great videos.
Looks like a sick car, but that price tag is insane. That is almost closing in on the 6s price range and a good bit more expensive than most 4s rigs. They could have at least cooled the motor and esc with that extra money...
If it’s anything like the Slash 4x4 Ultimate that extra money upfront will save you way more in the future. I have a Slash Ultimate and it’s indestructible. I also have a Rustler 4x4 VXL which breaks way more often.
Love my rustler so much $ in it but it's perfect the variable damping kit really helped with the VG racing springs. Also vitavon makes a bellcrank for it waiting on mine now
Great video Mark, I'm planning on buying one in Green but first i plan to sell my HCG Slash 4x4 VXL to make room for the new truck. With this truck i plan to run it out of the box i only plan to get a ESC fan for it, install a steel spur gear and maybe put an XT90 connector on the esc so i can run my aftermarket 2 and 3s batteries after that i plan to run it stock for as long as i can.
growing up in the early 90s i was a huge Associated fan. i felt every RC should have an aluminum chassis. i have fallen in love with the Sledge. wish Traxxas would make more models using that chassis design. a shorter wheelbase, short arm 1/8 buggy! and a Sledge wheelbase short arm 1/8 SC truck! call it the Super Slash or Slayer 2.0.
Saw a sledge in person and it blew my mind away from how rugged and tough it felt. Very good build quality. Shopping for my first real RC and sledge is definitely my buy. Now for a fast nimble mini monster truck this (rustler ultimate )definitely catches my eye.
I hope you will answer my question? If you get the Rustler Ultimate with the blue tooth in radio, can you use that radio and Bluetooth to all your other Traxxas cars. I have XRT, Sledge and Slash VXL 4x4. There all Bluetooth installed.
Thanks for the video Mark, a lot of great value there. Did they make getting the lid on any easier? I'll stick with my 4x4 VXL and upgrade as things break, so far that hasn't happened and it's been over a year.
Not going to lie... the body latch is still kind of a pain to line up. If you already have a Rustler 4x4 VXL and you dont care about the upgrades, your good! Thanks for all the love and the comments @ryanmarkley9192!

They should fix the box, the green one has blue turn knuckles/ bearing carriers @ 1:55. I would have purchased that green one at my local hobby shop if the box didn’t make it look like all the hop ups were blue aluminum on the green model. That green aluminum makes a huge difference imo, looks amazing
I'd say the Rustler BL2S with a 3S system of choice, beats this ultimate version in value... The E heavy duty kit beats the Ultimate in durability and reliability for bashing and general use Additionally, even for this ultimate version they didn't upgrade the nº1 gripes with the rustler which is how easy they overheat in 3s (they don't include esc fan) and the plastic driveshafts (no extreme heavy duty ones or CVD ones)... Also just because traxxas prices their hop ups so insanely high individually doesn't mean you are really getting a big deal out of this pack, they are clearly not selling this at a loss.

What’s the difference between a Slash Ultimate and Rustler Ultimate? Would the Rustler body just fit on the slash with the Rustler body mounts swapped over?

Hows come the rear axles look like there towed in and crooked?? The front looks straight and aligned..maybe the way it was recorded..but looks like rear tires are towed inside towards the body and the front look pararell
I have a Rustler 4x4 vxl that’s had these same upgrades made to it and I like it a lot but if I were to buy another brand new Traxxas in this price range it would 100% be the wide Maxx and not the Rustler Ultimate.
My only complaints are the car should have came with the ESC cooling fan should have came with a heat sink and a cooling fan for the motor and Traxxas needs to fix there site to make stuff like finding that heat sink and cooling fan for the motor easier to find other than that awesome car I've been driving Traxxas sense the original 4-tec 1.5 I have a 3.3 4-tec that does 70 this car actually scared me right out of the box with a 3s 6500 milliamp battery

I got the green one as well 💪. First thing I did was put a Hoss wheelie bar on it!
The black one has a crystal metallic finish so sick I just installed the speed pinion gear.

It would be perfect once you throw a savox in there with Tekno m6 shafts. Maybe even swap the ESC lipo plug.

A 5lb car needs all that, to hold together? The shocks are ~$75, with no springs. Will the springs off of the plastic shocks fit the GTR shocks?
No. GTR springs are larger in circumference.
