    Don't listen to any of these hateful fools on here. I started the same way a few years ago and now I run 2 trucks, 4 mowers with about 100 accounts commercial and residential (in my mid 20's). Most of the guys i know that are successful in this industry started young and with nothing more than a push mower. Get as big or stay as small as you want. Keep up the good work!

    This is one of the better lawn care video's out there and easily rivals geek to freak. I wish you'd do more especially with the boom of the lawn care youtube channels. The views on this video compared to the others say enough about it. Editing is superb and enjoyable to watch. Thanks.

      Why would you use an edger, and then spend down amount of time beveling the edges? Redundant because that little 21" mower can overlap on concrete. No tie downs in bed of truck for mower?

  • @scooby1969doo
    @scooby1969doo 11 лет назад +1

    Fair enough. I save the step and just hold the trimmer head at a 90 degree angle and get a nice sharp edge on the lawn. 1 pass and done. Here is another tip, blow after trimming and blow all the debris up onto the lawn and then mow it. Nothing left at the end to blow and nothing on the grass either. I still walk real quick with the blower and make sure so it takes an extra minute, when I leave though, there is nothing left.

    You should add a lawn striper on the back of your mower or add some weight with a pipe or something. So when you are mowing strips, you get a better angle on the grass, giving a better look to the lawn overall. I could see your strips somewhat, but i think the owner will be more impressed with a darker lined lawn.

  • @lawnchaser
    @lawnchaser 11 лет назад +1

    no you don't always want to run your 2-stroke equipment wide open. The blower you can, because it"s governed properly. But running your 2-stroke equipment (such as a string trimmer, edger, or hedge trimmer) wide open can be bad on the engine cause they aren't governed properly. My mechanic told me that. Now sometimes its okay, but only when necessary

    A truck to get you from point A to point B with a push mower, weed-eater, leaf blower and water will get you a long ways.. craigslist is the next generation of door to door knocking. Saves time and money. Surpasses the problem of no payouts from knocking on doors. Remember your customers see the finished project. So treat everyone's lawn like you would your own. How you treat their lawns is how the customers treat you.

    Quick question..
    So do you recommend not using a side bag?
    The lawn obviously looks great without it..
    Also, blowing curbside cut grass into the street?
    No problems with township or neighbors doing so?
    Thanks in advance!
    Awesome vid!

    • @TheOlJWShow
      @TheOlJWShow  4 года назад

      Hi Keith! Great question! The short answer is, it depends. If you maintain the grass regularly, and use a mulch blade, then the clippings can be very helpful, providing nutrients to the grass. However, if the grass gets too long, or is super thick (like fecsue grass) then you run the risk of choking the grass with too many clippings. St Augustine grass (like whats in the video) is perfect for mulching since it is broad leafed and not too dense.
      I think a bagged lawn looks sharper than non bagged, but the amount of additional work and disposal negates any aesthetic gain imho.
      Lastly, it very much depends on what the client prefers.
      Regarding blowing the clippings into the street: The town I was in and the client base I had did not care, and I do not see a problem with it as long as it is not excessive amounts of grass.
      A lot of folks on here have taken issue over the blower/street scene. Perhaps they live in an area that it is prohibited to do so.
      Hope that helps buddy.

    FWIW, we use small walk behinds only for jobs with restrictions - like yards with small gates, etc. I agree that Toro makes good walk-behinds. But man, that's a large lawn for just a little 21" mower. Of course that's okay if you're a homeowner, but if you want to turn a profit you need to get on with it. With pro equipment you'd be two jobs down the block in the same amount of time. ...just my two cents worth...

    Hey JW, you trying blowing before mowing yet? As the leaves have just started dropping here it really makes my accounts standout. I watch the big boys, trim, mow and blow and all those leaves are just sitting up on the grass when they are done. I just laugh...all the way to the bank.
