What a great video. There were some great series that didn't make the cut.. Some honorable mentions, Atelier, Bravely Default, Dark Cloud, Eternal Sonata, Golden Sun, Legend of Legaia, the Mana series, Pokemon, Shadow Hearts, Star Ocean, and the Tales of series! Well at least one good thing about this video is it's given people a wide range of games to play and it shows that the jrpg genre does indeed cover every letter in the alphabet.

All these classic JRPGs from the SNES, PS1 and PS2 era being forgotten and lost to time. Thanks for reminding everyone about a big bunch of them. Especially since traditional JRPGs are very dead genre at the moment with a focus on action RPGs instead.

Trails and Suikoden are probably my two favourite series, so I couldn't live with myself if I replaced them with other great titles (even so there are some incredible alternatives)
You could have put Trails on as K...for Kiseki. So that Tales could be T. Wait, then what would Kiseki replace as K, then? ...what the hell is Kingdom Hearts...?!
Have you not played Rogue Galaxy? I liked Radiata (though, I never beat it), but RG is better. So is Radiant Historia, which others have mentioned, and I feel both do more for the genre than RS. All three good games, though. Really, though, if we're talking essentials, it should be Radiant Historia.
When first saw that game on Z,I thought you were joking, title is crazy. I would put on Z: Zanki Zero (Danganronpa team)game from 2019. Very interesting Dungeon crawler with survival mechanics. Quest 64 why you are here,let Mana games, Valkyria Chronicles,Tales Of and SMT in. :)
Never heard of Zanki Zero. And I actually had VC on there initially, but felt Vagrant story was more significant. And no game will ever replace Suikoden and Trails, even though I LOVE so many of the alternatives.

I was hoping for the pump fake since F is so obvious. I would have died laughing if you had said “F is for Fairy Fencer…” even if you followed it with a JK. But alas…

Awesome! I'm pretty new to jrpg genre,I've have played western rpgs for decade just Japanese style wasn't for me until I check Ni No Kuni three years ago,and now I have too much games to play,lol. Speaking of Arc, it's shame Arc isn't available on PS3 digitally anymore.I would like to check series. Guess I can try other Arc game,I think one is PS2 classic on PS4.
Weird they would take the Arc the lad off the PS Store considering they even gave the original free on PS+ years ago, tho the PS2 Arc game is very different compared to the PS1 games and has 1 annoying thing about it that MP is a limited resource while in other games it was just regular MP bar.
@@V-Jes yeah, they removed arc games when Sony announced end of PS3 and Vita store. Just few days after announcement company(ip holder probably) removed arc games + alundra and few others if I remember correctly,and after protest Sony "change their minds" about store,but alundra and arc games can't be found in the store.
Etrian Odyssey > Earthbound. At least I can understand Persona taking over Phantasy Star and Suikoden (even if its overrated IMO) outdoing Shining Force, but calling Earthbound a game that barely anyone has played but loves to wank over is odd. Also Radiant Historia should be for R.
Breath of Fire: Story, graphics and music = 3. Gameplay enhancements: 4. 4 is a downgrade and an upgrade at the same time, so in the end 3 is the best one for me. The legend of Heroes is simply one of the most amazing series of JRPG I've ever played in my life. Falcom just excells on this series and I love it. And of course, YS is amazing, Falcom again did an amazing job with the entire series.
Ugh, Unlimited Saga. Dreadful. Honestly, I'd put Ultima on the list over it. Yeah, I know, not Japanese. But, c'mon. It's turn-based and at the very least is a good series for people to play. They'll certainly have more fun with Ultima over Unlimited.
Poor Quest 64. You're the worst rpg I ever beat. Even the monastery you begin the game in has unfinished rooms. Should have tipped me off to what I was in for.
