The realest guest in my opinion for a while, just based of how he tell stories and the Delta guy
He's a fraud in my opinion he said a close miss with a sniper rifle would rip your limbs from your body.... That's a lie
@@maximus-hl9jwthen you know nothing about what you're talking about.
@@maximus-hl9jwdepending on how close the impact was, it could definitely do some damage
a lot of theses ex military guys can come over as boastful and hey look at me....but this guy comes across as a normal dude who was telling it as it was.....he even apologised for swearing..lol....his country and parents should be proud of him
You caught that...I would be very surprised to find he did not have at least one honest carring parent.
You can tell this man have some PTSD but he is so calm
Yea. But he'll be alright. It'll take awhile but he'll get past it and be better for it. He's got inner strength.
He said he is on the medicinal weed
@trentfrancis4646 that's not good
@@jonathancole6124not for you! Better than drinking.
@noahwilson5262 no it isn't. Your liver constantly regenerates, the lungs don't
Flechettes, wicked ordinance, 1000's of tiny steel darts. My dad told me about those from his time in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne, C Troop 2/17th in 69'-70'. He said the Cobra pilots surprised a group of NVA in a pond and LITERALLY were nailing them to the rocks. He says he can still hear them yelling, "Flechettes! Flechettes!" as they flew in to re-arm.
They were used against the Chinese in Korea. I was told by a veteran who was there. They had a descriptive name like 'Buzzy Bee' round. Then they just went through a soldier without mutilating. Maybe they've modernized them.
@@Nnip9 My research indicates that some artillery units in Vietnam called those rounds 'beehive' rounds. Something about them sounding like a swarm of bees going overhead.
Fascinating. Shawn Ryan's interviews should be and most probably are archived. Very important testimonies.
Brilliant.
I was a Carl Gustav gunner on deployment in 3rd bat in 2014. That is where I got to shoot 2 flicet rounds for practice because the rules of engagement didn't allow them in combat at the time later in the war but had them left over from previous deployments. It's an 84mm rocket with about 1000 barbed darts, that are covered in an Anticoagulant to cause bleeding out if you're hit with one. It's for close anti personal engagement. Not accurate but covers a wide area up to about 100 meters. Pretty crazy
Anti couagulant...
I can't even say that without losing blood !!
What will they think of next...DON'T ask !
Think of the time, effort, and money spent to train this man to go to war. Then consider how much money, effort, and time was put in to helping him live back in the world after having these horrific experiences. The Veterans Administration has NEVER stepped up to support us. Look up the story of The Bonus Army.
And they NEVER will hoss, in the rich politicians eyes we are expendable and they’ll never have to look us in the eye. But I personally and my family thanks all of my fellow veterans from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you to those that volunteered to do something able bodied people were too cowardly to do. 🫡🫡🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@shanewoods1980
AMEN
Fleschettes are basically nails with fletching (fins) like on an arrow. Thousands in an artillery/explosive shell.
They spread out.
God's revenge I'll call it
They're also coated in anti coagulate to make people bleed out faster
I love that he mentioned the dog was safe
Nick you are a freaking beast. I appreciate your service and all that you did for this country. God Bless you are your family. RLTW.
Can’t imagine picking up body parts like an Easter Egg Hunt..
He must of near missed them and ripped the limbs off those bodies huh lol at least he said that in the past a miss would rip your limbs from your body that's a damn lie
Man I can’t even imagine getting shot through your NVG’s. I absolutely hated wearing them during night ranges or night patrols. They suck when you’re trying to patrol through a tree line at night & you’re stumbling between opening & closing your free eye trying to establish some modicum of depth perception. I know most guys hate them, but I’m sure that guy loved his NVG’s that night lol 😂 Much respect to these Rangers! #0311Grunt #SemperFi
I've heard that NVGs are stressful to wear, mentally tiring. It's a love/hate thing?
@@Nnip9 I never loved them lol. The Marines always get the shitty equipment/gear. So a lot of times when I did night ranges, they would flicker with every step when I was running. I can’t recall a time when they didn’t flicker on & off when I was running.
@@yyoungballer24
That flickeing wasn't the night vis...It was the horrible movie we are all being forced to watch !
kddg...love the Marines
War effs up people in the head.
Did my 4 in the Corps, but lucked out being 75-79.
But i was an AF brat back in 67-68 in the Phillipines at 9/10 years old.
This is where they brought most of those kids from 'Nam at evac.
Made a very sober impression on little me.
I would REALLY like for this to not happen again.
Thanks for your service, warriors.
This is pretty much the best most interesting podcast online today. Unbelievably amazing stories.
SHAWN RYAN IS BY FAAAAR SO FAR THE BEST INTERVIEWER.
Called in the C130🇺🇸
'Flechettes' are small steel darts...The drill through bad guys head to toe...Goes back to WW1. I read about shotguns in combat, and in VietNam, flechette rounds were tried. It was said they had no stopping power, like buck rounds, but the vc shure bled out, eventually. I guess its better to saturate with them.
Awesome interview
All that time for nothing. Afghanistan was a waste of time and money
Someone made $$$. If I remember Obozzo said Afghanistan was the right war, Iraq the wrong war.
The red sign family wanted all CB's eliminated and the 6 middle east countries and Libya and Venezuela were the last. That plan was abandoned after Obama.
Was perforating bin Ladin with open tip match rounds and close range and avenging the 3000 innocent people that died from 9/11 for Nothing? Not to mention, our soldiers got a taste of combat from Afghanistan than was a bit different than other conflicts so they can transform that into knowledge and training. I can go on about a lot of other things but I’m not gonna do that. Anyways, get your head out of your ass brother.
Iraq was a bigger waste, but we don’t get to choose where we are sent and we can’t argue with the politicians that choose to send us. Thank you to my fellow veterans!🫡🫡
Certainly not for defense contractors, that the state department gives millions per week to hamza bin laden makes me ill
That interview was intense!! Seems like a cool dude. I’ve never heard anyone talk about Carlos Hathcock. That guy is a legend! Thanks guy’s.
Wow...just wow. Mad respect
Flechette rounds basically is the artillery version of a food processor. Thousands of darts fired into the objective, just minces the range.
What you do and who you talk to… may god bless all of you! Your show is both impressive and humbling, gives us hope, I hope anyway, god bless all of you and thank you.
I like the smooth transitions of body language and movements between the edits 👍🏿.
I know people who are not into the military or guns.Or anything like that Who watch everyone of sean ryan's videos because of how good they are
So detailed - as if he was there again
Absolutely fantastic interview thank you.
Flechette rounds are like darts. That main delivery "bomb" pops open and peppers the trees with thousands of steel darts. They've been in action a long time
Flechettes are 1.5 to 2.5 inch long of hardened steal spikes with fins on them.
Appreciate this interview. Read your book in 2017, Nick. Thanks for all you've done.
Can't get enough of these experiences. I just bought his book.
Think of barbs from a barbed wire fence. Then you have an idea of fleschette rounds.
Darts
This guy is so mentally tough it’s insane , you can he has his problems but he deals with them so well. Read his books guys is a real life reaper
Thank you for your service and sacrafice, God bless you and your family Mr. Irving. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🏻
TY
I think he was talking about the mech timed he Gustov rounds.
Holy shit man…
Thank you, soldier!
We really need to know what these men go through. God Bless you all.
Mr. Irving or CSM Satterly.... tied for the best interviews God bless both of them
Flechettes are darts, steel or lead
I cant imagine
I love your podcast man you do a hell of a job
Great interview
Heavy hitter right there
I’ve seen all the videos I can of Nicholas Irving and he is a really cool guy. Respect you bro.
Did shit like that as a FF/EMT .Still see it all
Flechettes are metallicDARTS. VERY small and lethal
@2:32 flachet rounds are tiny razor blades. Pretty nasty stuff when its exploded at you at high speed im thinking. Ive only ever heard of them for shotguns but I can see how they would be highly effective against infantry.
Marjah to Afghanistan is like Fallujah to Iraq. Only the bad people stayed behind to fight. It was a literal bloodbath. Target rich environment, weapons free.
The fléchette is French, meaning "little arrow" or "dart", comes out like a shotgun blast
WoW Nick is great 👍
Wicked shout out for @Gerber Knives!
Oh you had a bad day at work today at your coffee shop job because you gon an old lady’s order wrong??? Hopefully seeing this brightens your day a little…
Flachette rounds have roughly 1000 small darts , think birdshot except darts instead of bb’s , you can buy them, for shotguns here in the states
Flichet rounds are basically small nail type projectiles that will slice and dice enemy targets, Vietnam era weapon or shell.
Love this brother. Such a humble dude but a fucking badass!
I read his first book man, I still gotta read the second one.
God bless our soldiers... this Hell is going to stop one day. Peace all and love.
Love you Shawn
These individuals undergo rigorous training and face extraordinary risks in their line of duty
Is that a mini flechette round that Arnold’s hand gets hit with in “Eraser” behind the fridge then?
This dude has a lot of hurt inside him. I hope he finds peace.
These individuals undergo rigorous training and face extraordinary risks in their line of duty,
“Yea we smoked a lot of people” jeez lmao
Prefator dreads look sick on bro
The rounds are steel darts that shoot out. Check out Kentucky ballistics shooting the armored truck
I remember when I picked up my first leg 🤢
No wonder our military is messed up
Flechett rounds are loaded with steel darts.
What exactly are you killing all these people for? What are you really achieving from these deploys? Glad you made it back.
Flechette rounds are like little Arrow like shape figures with if the military are alot bigger then what the Public can get!
Why do that? To Harm them PSYCHOLOGICALLY FURTHER??? ITS A CONTROL THING
I like this guest...seems his mind works like a steel trap
Flechettes are darts that spread out like a shotgun pattern. Used in lots of stuff.
That guy has been thru it. Poor guy...
I've shot lots of long range rifles and I would have wanted a really nice semi auto for his stuff. I can't believe that they made him piece bodies together. That's insanity.
That poor guy. ❤
God bless him.
Reminds me of 14.5 day
Admy grunts would pick up body parts typically
“Hey everyone, I just found a butt cheek “
Yikes
Reaper stay strong 💪
PTSD has pushed the envelope, There is no preparation for such horror where the shock leaves you in auto pilot. The memories & the concussions, the adrenaline of the reality will fuck anyone up for life. There is hope, the government simply does not give a shit nor do they understand. Marcus Latrell would get it…& a handful of others.
The war is within….stay blessed.
calling shit coming in close....Beehive beehive.......(Fleschettes )
Just curious what platform he was using saying he grabbed the wrong magazine with subsonic rounds and it wouldn't cycle right...🤔 I've never had any problems using subsonic rounds in the AR platform.
He was using a SR-25
308 ar platform the bolt is heavier than 5.56
10-4
Is the full interview out?
yea
His voice…
*If you haven't watched the full episode, go watch it, you won't regret it*
Can someone tell me what ISR is? He said ISR is feeding them something? I'm old and was in the Army way before all this digital stuff.. 😂
An asset for surveillance and reconnaissance. Can be a drone giving element Intel on how many combatants or terrain.

"Wed bring back the fingers to one of those agency ah compounds" aka CIA black site.
That entire interview was a coller coaster, especially when a black man is damn near crying for a white man that died.
If anyone has V.i.p. Tickets to a s#it show its definately this guy.
Arent FLESHettes a fucking war crime? 😂 this was a while ago though
I listed into the episode but the vodoo stuff put me off
This guy also says that 50BMG will rip your arm off even if it doesn't hit you.
He said you could miss the target by up to feet and the round would still take their arm off!!!
Dude is a liar

Who was the CO that ordered you and your team to put bodies together?
Expose him.
They all have to do it to confirm the amount of people killed by the soldiers.

Fishet rounda are nasty !!! Probably not how ya spell it.
Imagine piecing them back together in the form of a human spider
