- It seems that Chad is a little bit obsessed with the price of the new Honda CB1000 Hornet SP, £9,999.00 does seem like a deal, but what's it like to ride, lets find out!
#honda #hondacb1000 #hondasportsbike
Between this and bringing back the CBR600RR, someone at Honda is smoking some good stuff.
People are poorer and manufactures keep releasing more and more expensive bikes, finally honda showing who’s boss and stoping this madness
But 10k is still not for the average rider at least in Portugal...
True but still better than 15k or even 20k
It takes a long time for things to turn around but this is a good start.
Shame it's so ugly..and boring paint scheme 😢
Well said.
The SP for just £1000 more is a no-brainer, surely. If nothing else, think of resale time: everyone considering this bike is going to want the SP.
Absolutely correct choice
On paper, it's the no-brainer. But I just really like the red colour because of how it stands out. So, I would still go for the non-SP because of the colour. Even if the SP is the better deal.
@@miscent107 Fair point. I didn't realise you couldn't have the SP in red.
@@miscent107yep totally agree! I’m contemplating the red! 🤪 all these reviews are glowing! Eeeee exciting !
£9999 for a litre bike? This should be a wake up call to other manufacturers
And doing it so with quality components and from a quality brand. Sure you can say it lacks IMU but to get Brembos, Öhlins and Honda quality for this price is utter insanity, it's like 5k cheaper than the MT10
@@alexm6340 I just keep wondering if the IMU would have added so much to the costs that Honda choose not to do it. Let's say if it was 500-1000 more, I think it would be still a very good offer and it would be unquestionably the best bike on market.
If Honda doesn't do it, Chinese manufacturers will definitely do it in the near future
@@LL2500Exactly lol people act like Honda did it out of some kindness
They can feel the Chinese breathing down their neck
And all the Bozos mindlessly repeating the propaganda they've been fed about Chinese made products will be lining up to buy their bikes in a few years
Z900?
GSX-S1000?
I have heard nothing but praises about this bike up till now. So glad Honda is getting the recognition again for what it is supposed to be.
Aftermarket exhaust manufacturers must be rubbing their hands as no one will want that anchor of a standard can but at that price most people can upgrade. Well done Honda, best new naked since the MT10.
Now Suzuki, Yamaha etc, take note of the price of this bike, your sales will no doubt suffer as a result unless you become realistic.
Z1000
for a just as ugly slower bike??? Right
Just remember you can get this bike for 2500, it's called a yamaha fz1
@@LastTruth77"Slower Bike"lmao
As if your wannabe MotoGP rider ass can actually push this machine to its limits
Everybody is Marc Marquez in the comments section
😂😂😂
@@jihigh482 Lol just stop you making yourself look stupid. No i race in a straight line at stop lights like most do to show off with friends. most ppl are not hitting a road cores on this bike. its going to get whipped there as well but yea. Move along let the adults talk.
I've got the 900 and love it. It goes really really well for being nearly 25 years old. I'm glad Honda brought the Hornet name back, and put it on such a great bike!
919 engine is from the late 90's.
It has made the Suzuki GSXS1000 obsolete overnight.
Kawasaki Z1000
It has for all of it's rivals. Amazing work from honda
How is that? GSXS1000 still a WAY better bike in every aspect. Let 1 of these guys back to back them at the track. Promise the 'Zuke will destroy the Honda.(& it came out 10 years ago)
How is the GSX-S1000 obsolete? Power? Handling? Proven K5 track record? Quickshifter function? Transmission quality? aftermarket support? Reliability?
How?
@@markoarkaina8656 😂 a good bike I am sure it will be. But, the GSXS1000 came out 10 yrs ago & was under 10k. I promise the chassis/swingarm ect of the GSXS are better pieces. It was basically the GSXR but naked.
They will both be great bikes.
What a bike very nice . A must have if your getting on and want the performance of the CBR1000 without the back dying . Love it .
this bike seems to be amazing, every review I have heard of it is giving it so much praise
Mine is comming!!! Ordered in november!
Super review, thanks, Chad. SP is likely to be the bigger seller. Incredible value.
Thanks
can't wait to see Chris rag it! just wish they did the SP in red ♥️
And in this John Player Special colorscheme, it even looks fantastic!
About time this company got off its ass and released something exciting.
cbr600rr is pretty sweet, also goldwing is still best in class and a few bikes like the grom and monkey (owned a monkey) are insanely fun, not everybike has to be a rocket on wheels to be good
A 600 makes low 40's ft-lb torque. And takes 12,000 rpm to do it.
Ho hum.
Honda! PLEASE! bring it to the States!
Best wheelie school intro!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Finally bike for masses with reasonable price for what you get! Good job honda 👍 Hope that competition will follow and we will see more affordable fun bikes.
In a world where bikes have been moved upscale to the level of being absurd, this is what is needed. I hope they sell crazy amounts of them.
we never got the 750 hornet in the us and now we wont get the 1000... wtf
Huge miss if the US isn’t getting this bike.
@@dirtydog1114sorry
We aren't?? That's a dumb decision SMH. Not sure if I'm more frustrated by this bike or the Yamaha retro triple (XSR900 GP?) that we also aren't getting.
Isn't it usually some kind of legal reason why some vehicles don't get released in the US like California emissions was one reason and then there are tariffs and stuff then dealer support and consumer tastes dictate what you get and usually big displacement naked bikes aren't popular in the US but super sports and cruisers are.
We get the updated Z900. Below 8,000 rpm I bet the Hornet has nothing on it.
We get the GSX-S1000.
We get the MT-09SP, XSR900 which are much lighter bikes, triple sound track, fat torque for an 890cc. The MT-09SP has R1-level electronics, something that makes the Hornet look archaic by comparison.
Price will revive motorcycle sales, well done Honda. Fun, freedom and it won't break the bank 👍🏻 Although I'm a motorcycle slut, liking many different manufacturers' bikes, I'm surprised it wasn't Suzuki to produce this bike.
GSX-S1000 not spinning your prop?
@@exothermal.sprocketI think they mean for £10k. The GSXS1000 is £2k more for a very similar spec bike
Honda going strong again 👌💪 great components for reasonable price
alright this is insane.. i never thought i'd be interested in a NEW bike.. i'm looking at 2-3 years old.. sometimes older because i love mid to late 2000s KTM 950/990s.. but this seems compelling.
Just like my Bandit GSF1200. Same concept. This one looks good, IT'S ABOUT TIME, HONDA. But please- drop the matte black color schemes... I need a GLOSSY machine
Agree. Hate matte paint. Scratches and impossible to repair or polish.
Do a glossy ppf it will protect the paint as well as maintain the glossy finish
The only real problem that I have with naked sport bikes is there is very little if any wind protection. I'll wait a couple of years to see what the aftermarket offers in that aspect. Great review though!
Wow! This was a passionate review. Well done! 😊
😮
This thing looks killer. Can’t wait to get my hands on one!
Look at the fucking size of that exhaust.... *dry retching sounds intensify*
and thats perfect isnt it? instead of paying 11k for a hornet with a less horrible looking standard exhaust that youre gonna replace anyways just give me this horrid ass looking exhaust and have me pay 9999 so i can spend the 1k on an aftermarket exhaust that looks good! win win they keep the price down i replace it anyways
Like Kawasaki I hope Honda will launche a retro variant of this in both SP & standard trim. I loved the look of the previous gen hood they bring that back as a retro variant with this price and spec that’ll be a dream
That was the Neo café that didn't sell!
Wish there was a red white and blue ,
Classic honda colours.
The SP version is quite appealing, however, I would appreciate having a wider variety of color options. My current favorite is the red one!
Honda need to do a single make race series with this.
😮
Man, could not have clicked the video sooner
cool bike, apart from the dustbin silencer...
Chad a great review yes it will sell well been a honda it will be wright from word go and last a life time the price is what people want .
The intro footage was more like one of those Fast Bikes videos where they all went nuts in the South of France 😂
Well done Honda. A great bike at a great price.
Wait! What? The standard version for £9,000?? Incredible. I think we have to thank both Royal Enfield and CFMoto for this pricing strategy. I just hope Honda isn't paring the profit wholly from the dealers' margin as a lot are struggling already.
They done it right ;)
Been looking for an excuse to downsize from my superduke 1290 and now I have it 😊😊🏍🏍
I think Honda would have killed it if they did not detune the cb1000r if that bike had a power with the looks it would have been amazing.
Well done Honda! Bring it to Canada please.
wow, sounds like they took the Suzuki GSX-S1000, made some tweaks and improvements - then sold it for less. Marvelous work, Honda. I would seriously be considering this bike if I was in the market for a 1000cc naked.
Suzuki has alluminium frame, cruise, imu, better tft…. The hornet is the same bike of 10 years ago
@guidofontanelli1236 The GSXS1000 does not have an IMU or cruise control. It does have an aluminium frame but is no lighter than the Hornet. It has only just received a TFT for the 2025 model. It was £11,999 for 2024. No price yet for the 2025 with the TFT
Is there a smaller version
The big cb is back
I wanted it originally until I saw the new Z900. Here in lies the issue, the standard bike barely has any electronics, no QS, no 6 axis imu but has the fireblade engine, want a qs and some other goodies? you have to jump up to SP, which is 3k euros more than a base Z900 here, on the other hand, the Z900 has 30 horsepower less but comes out on top at anything else, comfort, 6 axis imu, QS as standard, cruise control and so on, and that's on the base model. Looks, they both look great, I like the Z900 overall more, the hornet 1000 has a better front. And the deciding factor for me is the color as well, only the SP comes in black, the Z900 comes in black as standard. I have a gen 3 hayabusa so I really don't need the extra power, the Z900 is more than enough for the city and I can't ignore the price of the Z900 for a fully loaded bike.
Well, Kawasaki isn't really the same quality. Sorry, but it isn't.
"Quality". Oh comon. That's so tangible, I mean, I think about quality every single mile, every time I rip a curve, roll on the throttle, pop a wheelie, turn around to look at the thing after I get off. QUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALITY. 😆
Cloudcata has a point. A year ago no one gave the Z a thought. "Too old school, cable throttle, zero tech, blah blah". It never had a problem with the engine and chassis. They were the most powerful in the class and still are. Butter smooth too, beefy torque. Below 8,500 RPM I bet that Hornet has nothing on the Z.
Fun wise only, how will it compare to the MT 09 ???
With all respect intended this looks A LOT like the CFMoto 800nk, which is a fantastic bike in it's own right. To have a 1000CC bike for just 2k more than a CFMoto...that's a hell of a great deal in the motorcycle world right now!
Why it looks like ducati streetfighter v4s?
New Ducati is ugly next to this
Kawasaki Z1000
@@rideroll9609you can’t be serious?
Another bike yet to reach the US.
Kudos to honda for the pricing every vehicles getting pricier and pricer these days .....i still miss the old CB1000 black edition with single sided swing arm though......now suzuki need to update their GSX-S1000 and price it agressively for a competition with similar spec and electronics
Flash it ect ,thank you mr Honda 🫡
Why does it look like a 2010 Z1000? 😮
That's what I was thinking Looks like my 2010 Z1000👍🏴
@shugd3 It's bargain bin special after all. 😀
So can it wheelie at all??
No terrible
I hope it’ll be released in Canada 🇨🇦 🤞
Needs a flyscreen to tidy up the front end, but I really like it.
Adrenaline rush bro🔥❤️🧡💛
does it consume as much oil as a new Honda AT (2024) ?
6000km and 1 liter oil?
Amazing value, the only thing I don’t like is the frame & welded on subframe - looks a bit gaff…but for £10k
Does it come to the US market?
Oh look, It's the new Ducati street fighter but only at half the price!
Half the horsepower too. Don't tell me V4 1,100cc horsepower isn't the reason people buy a Streetfighter.
@@exothermal.sprocket I was actually talking about the SF V2, as the CB1000 hornet is half the price of the V2 and more horsepower too. You can buy two CB1000 hornet's (almost 3) for the price of one V4 in 2025 and yes it got 68hp less but 150hp is not half of 218hp
@@G1lgamesj Half isn't meant to be an exact word, in context.
People shopping for a four cylinder Honda probably aren't cross shopping a V2 Ducati. The two powerplants do very different things, even if you're only looking at numbers. People are cross shopping GSX-S1000 and Z900 and such, or plopping down more money for an MT-10 (non-SP).
The 2025 Z900 has much more advanced features than the Hornet, so there's that. The difference in power is probably only north of 8500 rpm where people spend very little time.
It’s a Honda version of a Ducati streetfighter V4 lol, literally the headlight is a straight copy with a little Kawasaki Z Design in there too body wise 😂
It will be interesting to see if Kawasaki can remain as competitive, with the new Z900!!
Where's it made?
Now that is a good question. I wonder the same.
Yeah I wonder, probably Thailand.
Now THAT`S quite the chunky muffler! Better watch out it won´t get stolen by an GT-R driver or some other JDM guy. 😁
I’d still take the gsxs1000 all day everyday
Come on Suzuki, update the GSXS 1000 with the GSXR 1000's suspension and quickshifter/blipper, better front brake callipers, add cruise control, keep the price competitive to this Hornet and I will update my current Gixxess. If you don't, I may have to visit my Honda dealership.
Same thing going to my mind too.... I'm always surprised why suzuki isn't utilising their 2017 GSXR-1000 vvt engine.
@ for sure, imagine a naked GSXR1000R with upright bars, and tuned for more torque.
Are the Ohlins and Stylemas sort of 'compromised' versions (slightly downgraded from the real stuff), similar to tires, thus not the same as buying direct from those manufacturers? The angular tank ... KTM has had an impact.
Same
@@Chad76MediaNo. Not compromised. Obviously cheaper to Honda when they are buying bulk in the thousands
ty
So it wheelies then?
Just a bit
Is this bike coming to the US?
Not for the foreseeable 😬
Funny how honda who was always the most expensive in its class decided to be the cheapest.
Well, the 890cc class (800-950cc technically) has a boat load more tech, less weight, and all-in-all probably not that much less usable power overall. It's the winner in all the bangs for all the bucks.
If it only had IMU + cruise control would be perfect 😘
Wouldn't be 10k then
Even leaving IMU out, just add the cruise control. It has already ride by wire. Component + integration wouldn’t cost more than £300 per bike
Learn how to ride bro imu no get some riding skills u wouldn't be worried about imu
Me wants one!! 😄🏍
Yay, Chad for, er, international envoy!
Serious question: is the cat in the big bulbous end pipe?
Partially, just like the cbr1000r 2017-2019. The same engine too
You probably can turn the tc of while moving if you held the mode button while in user mode
Tried that
@@Chad76Media That's a bummer, works on my 750 hornet
Finally! Wheelies Wheelies Wheelies!!!
Everybody's talking about the SP version but what about the normal one ?
Chad rode the standard one in this vid.
@BikeWorldTVshow It seems to me that he rode the SP..
@@Tom-yr6ktChad rode the standard one in this vid briefly as well..
@@BikeWorldTVshowAny opinions on the differences in the brakes and suspension?
He asked the question.
Well, perhaps 2025 Z900 (more tech than this Hornet, believe it or not) or GSX-S1000 (about the same tech, proven K5 based engine, one of the best QS in the business).
I cant get over the similar looks as the z900 z1000 kawasakis haga
Well done honda. Now make the new fmx with the 750 hornet engine please
I love my FMX as is, I like that it's a single
The lack of cruise control is a major disappointment on a bike like this. But other than that, well done Honda. We can all thank cfmoto for forcing everyone to reconsider the value proposition
Seriously why isn't this available in the US wtf?🤬
Could this bike be used for touring?
I use my MR for long tours, I imagine this will be a little more comfortable. Everything is possible.
No cruise control, which would've added maybe 50 bucks if even that in cost since they already have that technology available in other models.
Stupid "always on" indicators.
The horn button and indicator switch are in the wrong spot.
wow that is a large exhaust
Let's not pretend like that isn't the first thing to get replaced. Happy they spend the R&D elsewhere.
@@motorcycle-man It's the easiest upgrade there is, and it's the same engine from the '17 cbr, probably the same exhausts will fit.
looks like a 2016 GSXS1000 (which had an msrp of $9999 here in the USA btw).
fantastice bike...
Best intro ever 💪🏼😎🍻
That's a very good looking bike. It deserves a nicer slimmer clip-on pipe. I am curious to see how it compares against the MT-09 SP (not the MT-10 SP). Despite the higher HP, I imagine the weight might play against it in most real-world situations.
Agree, would love to see that. Definitely feels like its aiming at the triples
Nope. From what I have heard from all the launch riders it is extremely agile, very quick steering, but stable. It does not feel it's weight at all. That is incredible. I don't know how Honda have done this. And for the price the competition should be seriously worried. Yam MT 09 and 10 sales are going to be hit hard with this machine. It also looks far nicer. Apparantly the engine is raucous, feisty, grunty, and extremely fun to ride. Incredible.
@@fyorbane I agree many may buy the new Hornet but it does not come with some electronic features the MT-09 SP does. Also, I do believe the extra weight will be felt in real-world conditions. I might have to compare them myself when the Hornet comes to US.
Wait chad did a video on 1000ps too 😂😂
We know, ours is better though.
@BikeWorldTVshow yours has more wheelies so it's 10 times better.
@ 👍😂👍
Was,waren das früher in den 70/ 80 und 90ziger für schöne Motorräder !!!
I'm happy to hear something about shorter gearing. I don't want to get too excited yet but it's ticking all my boxes!
ill just wait for 400 or 650 version 1000cc is too much for my area too many congested road just to get out and coming back
FFS, what's wrong with the 500 or 750 they already sell?
now we want a 1000 bold or
I'm a bit surprised by your body position, leaning your lower body into the corner while leaving your upper body away from the corner, all crossed up.
On the subject of paint, we all know that satin/matt paint finish scratches much easier than gloss. I have a feeling that the cb1000r's paint is water based due to regulations. It is certainly very thin. I won't buy a bike without a gloss finish. Anyone agree with this?
I dont mind a matte paint finish. But when i saw the SP in the flesh, it just looked like unpainted plastic. I was really disappointed, especially as the red base model next to it looked much better quality.
Problem is that SP can be only this mat black. Always some catch
Which makes it a perfect candidate for vinyl since you're not covering an existing color and what's not covered looks OEM.
Honda... put the V3 in it for next year
