@doug3011 what ru smoking? I can't even use half the power on my 125hp z900 without instantly doubling the speed limit...you "might " be able to use 30% of this bikes capability on public roads 🙄
The most natural brand competitor is the GSX-S1000. Regardless of price, wonder how the 'legendary K5' moto stacks against this 2017 CB variant. I think the Suzuki is going to win the torque battle, probably a bit more power overall but not enough to notice.
As said above, very little expensive electronics, and what it does have is yesterday's technology so will have dropped in price. R&D costs must be negligible, or already recouped on other bikes (the engine in particular must have paid for the R&D already seeing as it's 7 years old). They probably think they'll sell a lot, hence will recoup investment via volume sales at cheap price (low profit), vs low volume sales at high profit. That's my thoughts on why it's the price it is.
I bought an mt10 at the start of the year, although the cp4 engine is great, I think I would struggle to justify spending the extra money if I had to go back and make the same decision today. Even with a decent discount I got on the Yamaha
You said it does not have low end torque, were you comparing to the super naked class? I'd be more interested to know how the low end compares to say the 890 Duke and other middleweights noting that the z900 has more dyno verified torque than all of the middleweights despite being a 4-cylinder?? In other words, I just wonder if this is a seat of the pants thing because it's so strong on the top the bottom feels empty.
I wonder that as well. It's still a LITER engine, and is not just the gearing and exhaust from the '17 Blade, it has different cams as well. It revs 2000 rpm less, so the torque is at the very least 2000 rpm earlier.
It's cheap (with a lot of goodies and quality) because it truly doesn't't have all the bells and whistles of other propositions. And it's fine just the way it is. Would buy one absolutely. Although for me 6'4 it might be a small bike.
I’m gonna say with a pipe and a flash it’ll have some low/midrange torque. I’ve had an SD an MT10 and my current Gen 2 S1000R with a headers and a map is a different bike!
I would like to know if them stupid hazard lights can be stopped from coming on when braking , nobody have said anything much about them because that’s a pain in the arse on a fast ride out 😉
Can you turn off the wheelie control without taking off the traction control ? and can you put the traction control on a lower setting ? how can a 1000 cc bike with 155 hp not have a good low end and midrange ? compared to what ? this video is the first video to say the this. personally I think of Hondas as being milk toast bikes. when I test road the Honda 500 and 750 a few years ago they bored me. right now I am riding a Ducati 939 super sport which has lots of low end and midrange power and character. but I am considering selling it and getting this new Hornet. all the reviews I have watched have gotten me excited about a Honda. first time in years. even though I like bikes that have full fairings for wind protection. I wish Honda would make an upper fairing option for this new Hornet.
Should I chop in my 2019 MT-09 for one of these or should I get the latest MT-09 SP? I appreciate there is a price difference but that isn't really an issue. I just want a fun bike that's good value for money.
@witnesspropro 😂 like most people will notice much of a difference, and the MT09 will be more fun on most roads. People are too hung up on horsepower numbers. The MT09 will probably have more torque in low to mid range, which is better for road use.
@witnesspropro and just an fyi, my XSR900 dynod right around 105hp stock, and around 120 with exhaust and ECU flash. This is perfect for me, don't need anymore. The MT10 I've ridden many times is too much power for the roads I ride, plus it's heavier. I think the big hornet will be similar to the MT10
@Scouse.Malinois You are deluded and clearly haven't ridden the GSX S 1000. It's got a retuned K5 engine which most riders have hailed as the best engine suzuki ever made p4p.
Damn it! I was kind of hoping this bike would kind of slip under the radar, so if I got one I wouldn't look like everyone else on the road 😅 I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade from an 07 CB600F Hornet for the last 17 years, and finally this could be the bike to do it. The 650 & 750 Hornets certainly weren't 😅
@timsalabimbombassa Interesting. Could it be cheap bcos it's made in Thailand or elsewhere? Same for Hornet 750? Kudos to Honda if it's built in Japan!
Even a mt07 is 8 grand, there is no way in hell that bike should cost anything over 6. I'm going to go for a stretch and I think this should have an imu as well for the pricetag. But I'm glad this came out at this price because everything came down in price, I'm getting the Z900, I want that 6 axis imu
On the track with the same rider the Triumph will most likely be faster. On the road I think the Honda will always be faster and more comfortable due to it's ergonomics and extra HP. The Honda would be much cheaper to own.
@ yeah I think so too. hopefully Al can comment too. I have a 23’ 765RS which is now tuned (130bhp at the wheel) and this Hornet has caught my eye. The Honda has an extra 27bhp over the 765 as standard but is also 24kg heavier. Suspect now mine has been tuned, probably not much between them, but expect AL to say the 765 has it for track work but the hornet is prob less focused for the road. Actually Bought the 765 with track work in mind… just quite intrigued. It’s getting great reviews anyway 👍🏼👌🏼😎.
Would love to know, pity this wasn’t one of the questions as the (lightly used) price is similar. 765RS faster in the corners and Hornet faster in a straight line maybe? Looks like 765RS is more refined, Hornet fun once you’re out of town / over 30-40mph and it starts to pull more?
@twistandgo3414 very difficult to compare given yours is modified though (modified vs stock isn't exactly 'fair'). Go out & ride a Hornet 1000 for yourself to make your mind up...

They are making money selling it to a dealer who then add their cut to make it up to the 10k price.

Apparently you can't show the left side of the bike. None of the invited riders show it.
😂 conspiracist much?
@FortyFourTeeth yeah, it's not serious. But after like 10 vids it's weird.
Apparently, there's another, even bigger exhaust on the left side 😂😂😂
That's where they saved the money... They just didn't make a left side ... 50% cheaper to make.
Will it be available in the US?
Looks great, wish they had made a red Fireblade coloured SP variant.
I bought an mt10 at the start of the year, although the cp4 engine is great, I think I would struggle to justify spending the extra money if I had to go back and make the same decision today. Even with a decent discount I got on the Yamaha
Haven't ridden the Hornet yet but the MT10 is incredible fun for the money (& like you say, Yamaha do deals on them). I know what I'd buy again...
It revs 2000 rpm less, so the torque is at the very least 2000 rpm earlier.
how far do you thin you can slam the front with drag bars?
Would it be any good for touring ?
It's cheap (with a lot of goodies and quality) because it truly doesn't't have all the bells and whistles of other propositions. And it's fine just the way it is. Would buy one absolutely. Although for me 6'4 it might be a small bike.
Did they borrow the headlight designer who had done the Kawasaki Z1000?
will a flashed ECU from a 2017 cbr 1000rr just plug in ?
I’m gonna say with a pipe and a flash it’ll have some low/midrange torque.
I’ve had an SD an MT10 and my current Gen 2 S1000R with a headers and a map is a different bike!
This is what biking is about, if honda doesn't sell a lot of these I will be surprised.
When is the touring version coming?
I wonder where it’s made? My 2015 NC 700 X was made in Japan.
My hornet 750 is made in Japan as well.
Can we do a review of this versus speed treble?
There's lots of talk about price - I can get a runout new MT10 or a Superquadro V2 Street Fighter for the same money here in Oz. Good three-way test?
I would like to know if them stupid hazard lights can be stopped from coming on when braking , nobody have said anything much about them because that’s a pain in the arse on a fast ride out 😉
Probably not because it's an homologation thing. However I'm sure it must be some aftermaket solution for that.
Can you review the 2025 Kawasaki Z900 next? The price point is really similar and it has an IMU
On paper it's another suzuki gsx1000s. am i wrong?
They got that can from the Suzuki parts bin
I was looking at a 4 year old ducati streetfighter v4s and the stickers weren't laqured on that, and they wanted 17k for it!
Sounds like those stickers are 'aftermarket' jobs 😂
They saved money though stickers ? I'm in.
Should I chop in my 2019 MT-09 for one of these or should I get the latest MT-09 SP? I appreciate there is a price difference but that isn't really an issue. I just want a fun bike that's good value for money.
MT09 SP all day. Better engine, and slightly less power, will actually make it more fun on most roads.
@churchofbrap876 Slightly less power? The Hornet is 150, the MT-09 is less than 120.
@witnesspropro 😂 like most people will notice much of a difference, and the MT09 will be more fun on most roads. People are too hung up on horsepower numbers. The MT09 will probably have more torque in low to mid range, which is better for road use.
@churchofbrap876 Hm 🤔
Awaiting the benidorm nights video 😂
MT09 or Hornet1000? Thank you!
MT-09 is more fun, playful (more motardy) and the engine is punchier, but the Honda's front end feeling and agility is its USP.
Triples are more fun for street use imo
if it was out in jan and had cruise control id buy one in a heartbeat , great bike though
Is it made in japan or honda's thailand factory?
Can't be made in Japan at that price
Coming to the USA? Can I get a rear rack and use it for touring? Comfortable? Has a helmet lock?
Not coming to the USA unfortunately
@amococ2487 ever?
Is that not a 2016 z800 front
Excellent ❤
How does it perform in comparison to the Suzuki GSXS1000?
I've been waiting for this question too 😅
They're both crap so it doesn't really matter😂
Loved the Suzuki stand at the NEC...all prices to ve confirmed...poopin themselves 😂
@@Scouse.Malinois I will wave passing by when your ducati won‘t go any further ;)
@Scouse.Malinois You are deluded and clearly haven't ridden the GSX S 1000. It's got a retuned K5 engine which most riders have hailed as the best engine suzuki ever made p4p.
Damn it! I was kind of hoping this bike would kind of slip under the radar, so if I got one I wouldn't look like everyone else on the road 😅
I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade from an 07 CB600F Hornet for the last 17 years, and finally this could be the bike to do it. The 650 & 750 Hornets certainly weren't 😅
Is it made in Japan?
The press material says ‘designed in Japan’. Makes me sus…
@timsalabimbombassa Interesting. Could it be cheap bcos it's made in Thailand or elsewhere? Same for Hornet 750? Kudos to Honda if it's built in Japan!
Probably Thailand
At this price point, it's probably not made in Japan
that exhaust would need to go, its nearly bigger than the bike
1000,- pounds for a SC project can, 1/10th of what the bike costs :)
@@tubejorrit owch, hopefully be cheaper alternatives come out later next year
You are that guy who gets a new motorcycle, puts a garbage cheap as you can find exhaust on it and doesn't flash it and moves on
Racefit is going to be busy
Even a mt07 is 8 grand, there is no way in hell that bike should cost anything over 6. I'm going to go for a stretch and I think this should have an imu as well for the pricetag. But I'm glad this came out at this price because everything came down in price, I'm getting the Z900, I want that 6 axis imu
How come you kept putting your foot down in the clips?
Fagan McRossi
Enjoy your night out on the town Fagan.
Z1000 look a like?
I just typed something similar. That headlight is straight kawi z model
The SP Project exhaust is over £1000 and oddly costs more for
The SP variant Hornet? The stock cab is so so ugly
You know what question i want answered..... What happened to the ktm video?
That headlight is kawi z...brundlefly all the way
This thing will be way cheaper than Z900 where I live.
I can see quite a few people going for it.
This or latest generation mt-10 if u have to choose??? 😎
MT-10 if money wasn't an issue, purely for the engine
How would you compare the overall performance of the bike as a package to the 765RS?
@@mikey_bb exactly what I’ll be doing… once they’re available. 😎
