      Yup that's me!
      I haven't even really considered a new bike for years. Every time I go look, I realize that I can find something just as good (with very low miles) for less than half the price. I REALLY want a MT-10, but $15-ish thousand out the door is a tough pill to swallow, especially when I could go get 3 or 4 used R-1s (or a Gixxer, a CBR, and a ZX-10) for the same price. Bring it to the US Honda!

    This bike is the best value 1000cc naked of 2024 period. If you are thinking about the mt10 or even s1000r because a bit more horsepower peak think again as with a 'simple' £500 custom ecu flash it'll go from 157 to round about 170 at the crank provided you add a full system and a performance air filter so this bike in the SP version is a no brainer - shame it lost my beautiful single sided swing arm but I'd swap that for those ohlins any day of the year. By the way who wants a naked that can go faster than this one's 170mph on track? Well it would be cool but just not necessary. Ride safe.

    Back along I spoke to an old school Honda dealer and he said something about why the 900 never took off. According to him it was because Honda took too long to release it, and when it was released it had stiff competition. The FZ1 had more power and the bandit 1200 had more torque and a cheaper price. However, i love mine. Its light, handles really nicely and 1-4 have some serious zing. Of its competition, i think its the thinking mans choice/happy compromise. If you can, go ride one! Youll be suprised.

    Maybe now Honda has forced the other brands to follow this lead. To stay in the game. I don't know why traction control is even necessary on a bike with "only" 150 HP. I had a second gen ZX12R that pulled 170 RW HP on a dyno. The operator said it must have been a " Wednesday" engine. It only had "biological" traction control. Great fun to be able to light up the rear on corner exits if you wanted to. Also to be able to lock the rear if you wanted to. Sometimes being able to lock the rear for a quick direction change can save you not hurt you. You guys know what I mean because the first thing you did was turn the bloody thing off and I bet you wish you could also turn off the rear ant-lock. Honda has just forced all the other brands hands and I bet they are pissed!. Good for them. Thanks for the very honest review.

She will think it is a selfish purchase because it's great fun for me and horribly uncomfortable for her. That one thing alone makes it a very difficult purchase for me. I already have a CB650R anyway so I don't really need a new bike but maybe in a few years I might be ready.

    These bikes are notorious for their heavily restricted motors. Honda's 1000cc motors are among the worse when it comes to restrictions. Just one ecu flash and it completely changes the bike. I mean these bikes can go from 130 hp to around 142 hp with flash. Nonetheless Honda have hit the mark with this bike in my opinion especially with the pricing.

    Nice review. This is a weird one for me as the bike, while clearly decent, is equally a seemingly fairly average & unremarkable mid-pack Japanese 1000cc naked. However, it's USP is obviously the price which is incredible & suddenly makes it a fantastic standout option. Although, the price alone doesn't actually make the bike functionally better, it does make it a very appealing ownership proposition & Honda will sell them faster than they can make them imagine.

      If you like going fast and pulling wheelies, then you'll need the tc off, but then you got 150 horsepower, no traction control going through a 180 rear tyre. This bike is not made for pure performance, but still a good bike for a good price

    • @ragerider6283
      @ragerider6283 День назад

      @djmorgan823 I get where you're coming from but I'm not really bothered about wheelies or going that fast on the road anymore. I just like riding a bike around. I've had a couple of 150bhp bikes before without TC & I couldn't use anywhere near all the power so I'm pretty indifferent to this class of bike now. I essentially watched the review to see if it was too good to be true or actually that rarest of rare things in this day & age, a true bargain! Thankfully it seems to be the latter & this can only be a good thing for riders in general & more broadly the industry as a whole. It's also really going to shake things up in Japan too with a price war but no one can really compete without Honda but it'll be great to see them try.

Like imagine you were in a group ride, you start powering out of a corner with a friend following close behind and then suddenly the bike stops accelerating and just slows aggresively from engine braking and suddenly your friend plows into the back of you. That is a real downer. It's all well and good making a cheap bike but if the bike is cheap because it's bad then that's unacceptable. How much extra would it cost to switch out that TC unit for something better? $100? Worth it.

    Big question for me would be is it better than an MT10. I get it’s a fair bit cheaper but it would need to go some to be better, in other words is an MT10 worth the extra?

    • @djmorgan823
      @djmorgan823 День назад

      I've had the mt10 it is ballistic, very close to my tuono factory. The honda won't perform like these two bikes. If your a rider that likes to go pretty quick and want a cool naked, Take the honda and keep some 💰 . If you like 3rd and 4th gear wheelies, and riding like you shouldn't, and maybe the odd trackday, I think the Honda will leave you disappointed. You'll need that extra cash.
      I just bought a brand new tuono factory for 14 grand. I got electronic ohlins, full 6 axis imu, 6 riding modes, 8 levels of tc, adjustable engine brake, wheelie control, cruise control, a phenomenal 1100 v4 engine all for just 4 grand more than the honda.

    Im very impressed with this bike a Honda CB1000 for under 10k, but lets talk about the Elephant in the room!
    That exhaust its hideous and i know you can fit a aftermarket one but then it starts to ramp up the price and may also invalidate your warranty, i think its the only thing on what looks a brilliant bike lets it down.

    Honda have worked a blinder, let’s be honest, who needs speed sensitive multi axis IMU stuff, who needs multiple traction control systems or slide control….. nobody…… track gods yes, they might want to lube their self worth, but not most riders,

    Mines on order. Interestingly, Honda Australia are only bringing in the SP model as they know it will outsell the standard one by a very long way. The red IMO, just looks too close to a cheaper Ducati.

    What does Honda have against swingarm spools? Why do they refuse to provide some threaded inserts for them on so many models? In my mind this is a basic maintenance necessity. 😵
