Watching this brings back memories for me. I was in VF-154 Black Knights, which is one of the fighter squadrons aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Back in my day which was the Vietnam war, I served from 1965-1969. We were aboard the USS Ranger. Two war time cruises 1967-1969. At that time VF-154 was flying the F-4 phantom. A very durable fighter that could perform many different missions. Fair winds and following seas. GO NAVY!!
I was abroad the USS Ranger I think around 1979 80 I was 9 yrs old . The ship was docked in Vancouver 🇨🇦 and my aunt took us on board for a tour .I guess she knew some one .it was mindblowing getting to see inside helicopters and f - 14 It was so big .great memories for a kid I think the new Orleans was docked there too . Don't get to see ships like that in 🇨🇦 .

As an Indonesian, I thank you very very much for the services of the USS Abraham Lincoln which helped Indonesia when the Aceh Tsunami disaster occurred, even though our countries are very far apart, America was the first country to arrive in Indonesia when the Aceh Tsunami occurred in December 2004.

I was fortunate enough to get a private tour of this fine ship as it was in dock back in 2018. It’s size is impossible to imagine unless you are actually on the ship itself. It looks and feels like it’s reasonable to cost billions of dollars. It’s so big it actually has a small museum inside the ship itself and a small hospital.
@@pharma37 it’s pretty small. About the size of a living room. I forget exactly where it was since the ship is so huge. I went in 2018 when it was docked in Virginia. Pretty cool. Thanks for your service Brett! What a really cool memory to have being on such a grand ship. When I went they also had a drill of someone trying to get past security. I’m sure service is not sunshine or rainbows but you should be proud.

With such a massive Aircraft Carrier, and with the planes taking off on the surface strip towards the left of the Carrier, couldn't they build a take off strip under the top strip where the planes are taking orr to the left, for smaller planes to taking off straight up or slightly to the right thereby avoiding crashing into one another? In other words, the Carrier would have two strips for take off thereby doubling the amount of planes that can be airborne. The below strip would be for taking off only, no landing.
Is this a real comment? Ha ha. This cannot be a real comment. You really have zero idea what you're talking about. Like... you probably should have just not commented you look so silly. Just delete your comment. Fun Facts: Planes are launched via steam-powered catapults. The "take off strip under the top strip" is known as "the hangar bay" and that's where aircraft are stored when they're not conducting flight operations.
Don’t let the LSOs fool you. They’re actually on the phone talking to their girlfriends / wives at home or putting in a pizza order to the officers’ mess.
I'm wondering what will happen if this ship is destroyed at sea. Will there be a nuclear radiotion leak or will it simply sink to the bottom of the ocean?
Not at all easy to do, and if any country managed, I sure wouldn't want to be that country afterwards. (The ocean is a big place. That's why so many nuclear detonations have been done at sea.)
Thank you for your service. God bless America 🇺🇸
Very important duties in the Navy. Thank you, everyone serving & who has served ❤️
