I was on the Oriskany and Ticonderoga between 66 and 69. Both ships had one enlisted mess. I remember during non flight days, it was get in line all day long. 2000 or so crew members waiting to get fed in a 300 or so seating area. The new sailor has a sweet life on the carrier! Enough of complaining, I learned how to be proud of my navy days.

FIVE chow line options for E-5 & below on my Nimitz-class: The 2 main lines serving meal-of-the-day back aft, a line serving fried food & pizza up forward, a cold-cuts deli bar, and finally a "taco bar" (open 23 hrs per day).
E-6 have the option of going to the First-class mess. Then there's the chiefs' mess and wardrooms...

It's amazing how Human Beings have this ability to work together, no-one truly understand how the entire System works, but we can all still contribute our part to the System, and at the end of the day, it works out.
Obviously no System is perfect, but it's still crazy how you don't need to know the A-to-Z of anything, but, just contribute to your part of the System, and it'll end up working just fine.

We were fortunate enough to be invited for a Family Day Cruise on the Carl Vinson in 1995. We went out of Alameda, under the Bay Bridge then under the Golden Gate.
Unbelievable. As we were going through the Bay, they’d lean the ship to the left so we could see the Embarcadero, then lean it to the right for a good view of Alcatraz. We were escorted by Firefighting “Boats” Spraying their water Cannons. It looked like that tower was gonna hit the Golden Gate. And as soon as we cleared it a lot of antennas folded up because the WOULD have hit the bridge. They took us out well beyond the Farallon Islands. That ship is FAST! I was thinking “You could pull a couple thousand skiers!” They had us all come down to the Hangar deck for Lunch. They had one A-10 Warthog to look at. While we were having lunch, they Arrested four Fighter Jets from NAS Lemoore. After lunch, we rode the Jet elevators up to the flight deck, where they commenced to put on one fine Airshow. Including breaking the Sound Barrier right over the deck. As we finally were docking at the end of a 15 hour day, the Captain thanked us for choosing “Bald Eagle Cruise Lines”. It takes a WHILE to park one of those. It was an unforgettable experience. Cheers.

I don't know if you served or not but thank you for your work on the most advanced propulsion system on any aircraft carrier in the fleet (at the time anyway). During the ship's shakedown cruise before deployment my son told me how amazing it was that for a ship of that size and weight the damn thing could reverse the turbines and bank to either side as it turned around while the engine was in full reverse. The one thing that sucked though is the new sanitation system that DIDNT work as well as expected while out to sea on its 7 month deployment. Constant problems with plugged up toilets (and not enough toilets)

Just to clarify: The carrier on the video is not a Gerald R Ford class carrier (as mentioned in the video's description). It's USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), which is a Nimitz class.
Gerald R Ford class carriers are numbered 78 and up. Ship's classes are based on the first ship of its kind, hence the Nimitz and Gerald R Ford class. All ships after that will be called that class, until a new class is made.
    *Nimitz Class*
USS Nimitz (CVN-68), USS Dwight D Eisenhower (CVN-69), USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) [the one on the video], USS George Washington (CVN-73), USS John C Stennis (CVN-74), USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), USS George W Bush (CVN-77)

Covid is just the distraction, while we struggle with masks or not, vaxx or not, employment or not our elected officials and bureaucrats behind the curtain are quietly removing our private property rights, our right to travel, our right to assemble, banning protest, our ability to use cash money and bringing in digital id and digital currency and now seizing peoples bank accounts. TOTAL ENSLAVEMENT ! Until the people wake up and you impact the World Economic Forum affiliated politicians and big businesses that run government and are supporting and driving the lock downs, nothing is going to change. The World Economic Forum, the United Nations UN Agenda 2030 and government controlled media are our biggest threats. Covid is the mechanism by which they are destroying the middle class and private/mom and pop businesses. Many of our government officials including Federal MP Chrystia Freeland, Conseritive Michelle 'Pronouns' Rempel, Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh and BC Premier John Horgan (and i am sure there are many more) are affiliated with the World Economic Forum (you will own nothing and be happy). What little democracy we have left is in the process of being subverted. Our elections are supposed to "feel" organic and grassroots but these people are groomed and then presented for us to "elect" and then they magically do the opposite of what we want them to do.
They are going to tax you out of your car with $10 a litre gas and force you to live in their smart cities, when will you say ENOUGH?!
The whole idea is to print money till they destroy people's savings through low interest and high inflation and collapse the dollar and bring in a one world digital currency, add to that more crushing debt for our grand kids to never be able to pay off.
All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.“ Edmund Burke
[“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”]
An evil enemy will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes.' - Sun Tzu
The government will tax you to the point that you are paralyzed financially.
The bankers will ensure we stay in debt. The pharmaceutical companies will ensure we stay sick. The weapons manufacturers will ensure we keep going to war. The media will ensure we are prevented from knowing the truth. The government will ensure that all of this is done legally.

The thing I loved about my time in the Marines(I almost enlisted in the Navy)was that we never wore baseball caps and everyone from the buck private to the Commandant wore the same cover and uniform. If you wanted a T bone every day you just picked it up . 5 meals a day , Early Clockers, Breakfast, 11 o'clockers (not a true meal) Dinner or lunch depending on if you are a northener or a southerner lol, then 4 o'clockers (not a true meal again) then supper , the big one ! then 9 oclockers ,,, a barrel of boiled eggs, a bucket of butter, a thousand loafs and a drum of mayo. Best trick was to throw a line over the flight deck when anchored and reel in the local delicacy fish. The Wardroom loved it, you got a fame name and the chef would always do you a private butterfly mack n chips with garlic. I caught a 22 lb tuna without knowing wtf it was . Also to correct the other guy from what I know it's not all mechanical failures. I forgot the exact reason but it was something to do with the downdraft of the VTOL engines and the hot air from the engines getting back into the intake causing the jet to flip over onto the cockpit many times. @@bighands69 Have you heard of hypersonic missiles for aircraft carriers? They still have some time, but there are new missiles that can get past the best an aircraft carrier and its defense has to offer. If they do, it's a HUGE loss. Drones and missiles for jets? Drones and anti-tank missiles decimating Putin's inventory of tanks? UAVs will replace jets, ships are becoming sitting ducks for new missiles defenses and tanks....well, you know. Or should, watching this military stuff. The writing is on the wall for many of today's best weapons.

The easts hypersonic missiles are a myth. The require high altitude positioning with a downward trajectory to reach their claimed hypersonic missile speeds. The problem with those systems is the the moment they go high altitude they stand out like a sore thumb. They for example cannot be used for level flight at sea level. The US has been making these types of hypersonic missiles since the 1950s.
The only nation on earth that has level flight hypersonic systems that are self propelled is the US. Now there are short range systems that the US and UK have that go hypersonic but they are useless for naval warfare.
The problem that every nation who tries to take on the US in naval warfare will have is the moment they come into their attack positions the US already knows they are there and will have targeted them.

@@bighands69 Having seen Russia's weapon not live up to the hype, they're likely less of an issue. However, China has come a long way and a concerted effort by either Russia or China could certainly have a chance of success in taking out an aircraft carrier. Modern weapons are becoming small, powerful, mobile, and autonomous, a possibly lethal combination for something very large and very slow-moving relative to projectiles. Slow moving manned weapons are high value targets, especially an aircraft carrier in a serious war.
There was a Swedish electric sub that made a successful hit on an American carrier in war games in Europe. The sub was undetected until it was too late, and it was small and relatively cheap. A new generation of weapons are arriving and they will be game-changers.

"as it is flown in the Royal Navy from the Queen Elizabeth and the Price of Wales A/C's."(sic)
The Royal Navy has yet to stand up an operational F-35B squadron. The eight British F-35Bs that embarked aboard HMS QE for CSG 21 were from RAF No. 617 Squadron.
The Italians are also taking delivery of the F-35B.

    • @johncouriermeh
      @johncouriermeh 2 года назад +2

@@AA-xo9uw The British forces are integrated and have been for the past decade. This is due to defence cuts and therefore the squadron (617)of RAF aircraft you talk about are made up of RAF pilots and Royal Navy pilots who all operate from the British carriers. There is not currently and unlikely to be a Royal Naval squadron dedicated to the F35B.
