I was always wondering what happened to Mina Liao. This origin story really makes you respect and sympathize with McCree. He couldn't save his close friend in Dr. Liao, yet in a way, he brought her back to life through Echo.
Why's everyone saying her sitting emote exist. It's not in the video. At the end she looks like she is just being powered on from her pod, not in her sitting emote.
She was initially designed as a Support Class, but the big thing that defines Echo in lore is her "Duplicate" power to become other heroes. That serves too much of a combat roll, so she had to be tweaked.
Taxima duplicate was meant to be used to handle multiple roles in battle, but only an absolute idiot would put highly powerful weapons on something your supposed to trust. If i could rework echo she would copy an offensive, defensive and healing ability from a targeted opponent as each of her primary abilities, and coy ONE ultimate as her ult
Maybe it's like she used her mind as a base plate for her artificial intelligence so she has her moral compass, ideals, and stuff so its like a copy of her. But she gets to be the bird she always wanted.

I am still convinced that Echo is just a copy of Dr Liao's consciousness uploaded into the Artificial Lifeform in the event that she died; however, the world wasn't ready for that kind of lore where a copy of human consciousness was the fail safe alternative to the rules governing Overwatch Research teams.

Sounds about right. There might be a bit of her personality or quirks in her, but that's not the same as a direct brain upload. And I'm just guessing on that last part because of the chance a bit of her went into her when she was being programmed. I imagine an AI would take after their creator a bit.

If you think about, Liao wanted to help omnics, she wanted to help them let the world know that omnics aren't killing machines anymore, despite the odds. Echo was probably supposed to prove that they could be what she wanted them to be; robots that helped society. Pretty sad when you know she was fighting against all odds and was proved wrong with her death.

Looking back on this video after the short series recently posted about Aurora, I wonder if Mina Liao's words were actually referring to Aurora instead, since Liao wanted to replicate the conditions under which Aurora was formed, and got Echo as a result. In this way, Echo is quite literally an echo of Aurora, and not just Liao.

The fact shes not a healer sort of makes sense since some countries in the Overwatch world are still being attacked by omnic groups like Null sector. Liao made her when she was with Overwatch so it makes sense that she would want to make someone who could fight along side them.

Sounds about right. There might be a bit of her personality or quirks in her, but that's not the same as a direct brain upload. And I'm just guessing on that last part because of the chance a bit of her went into her when she was being programmed. I imagine an AI would take after their creator a bit.

If you think about, Liao wanted to help omnics, she wanted to help them let the world know that omnics aren't killing machines anymore, despite the odds. Echo was probably supposed to prove that they could be what she wanted them to be; robots that helped society. Pretty sad when you know she was fighting against all odds and was proved wrong with her death.

Looking back on this video after the short series recently posted about Aurora, I wonder if Mina Liao's words were actually referring to Aurora instead, since Liao wanted to replicate the conditions under which Aurora was formed, and got Echo as a result. The fact shes not a healer sort of makes sense since some countries in the Overwatch world are still being attacked by omnic groups like Null sector. Liao made her when she was with Overwatch so it makes sense that she would want to make someone who could fight along side them.
