    Hey Coach! I’ve just turned 52 and want to get back into some racing. Im 6’ 190#. I’m wondering what size bike I should get,20” with a 21” top tube or a 24” Cruiser with a 21” top tube? I also would like to be able to just ride around the neighborhood and practice jumps,bunny hops,manuals etc.
    Thank you sir!

      @@BMXTraining thank you so much for that suggestion!! I bought one of those 26” PK Rippers Mike Buff editions and it’s just to darn heavy for anything except cruising around.

    Are uphill and downhill sprints necessary? Or is it better to do just flat sprints? Thanks G

    • @BMXTraining
      @BMXTraining  6 лет назад +2

      I think they totally have their benefits and place! Again, always ask yourself “for what purpose?” Perhaps that’s a question I can go in more depth next video! Much gratitude Scott.

    Weird question, I come from a Velodrome sprinter background, why do BMX racers start with the pedals in a neutral position VS having one a little higher than the other?

    • @BMXTraining
      @BMXTraining  3 года назад +1

      That's an awesome question and I would say since the 80s, 90s and into the clip era, the front crank has lowered more as getting into the second pedal can be just as important as the explosive first. Also, consider roll out vs track, we get on top of the gear quick af. We want to get into the triple extension as fast as we can, so if the crank is higher, there will be a delay. And this is all preference of course, I has an athlete who was quick and won a bunch of races having his crank parallel to the down tube. I raced track and did team sprint, and i didn't like having my crank as high as the coach wanted me to.

      @@BMXTraining I did team sprint (Olympic Sprint in my day) as the leadout man so my strength was going from 0 to 35ish mph in less than 250 m. This BMX stuff is a BIG learning curve.

    I always have to race older kids, people that are about 2-4 years older than me. I'm almost always beat by them. How can I train more to get better? It feels as if I am as fast as I can be.

      You got to look past the landing, most riders who case jus tlook at the face of the landing, not past it....
