Hi, Jamie's mom! Nice video. Come back again. Generally, I think people have a bias towards the saw they spent a lot of money on and/or really wanted to buy. You WANT to like it so badly.
I agree with your mom, I think a saw around 14-16 ppi is easier to control than the very fine Veritas saw, probably because it's faster and tends to stay on track more easily. Thankfully she didn't have to try the Bad Axe ! 😂
Awesome video. She was definitely the star of this review. Your mother is Awesome and Beautiful. But i don't like that blasted gent saw. Lol She done a Great Job being new at it. Ima have to make you a moxon vise. Next time i see you i will have one for you. Really enjoyed the video.
One thing that drove me crazy on this video was you named all but the gentry when your mom pointed to them. So i spent several minutes trying to figure out which one she liked.
Did you do anything to help her keep the blade vertical? I tend to lean the saw a bit, as a beginner myself, I would love to hear if she leaned a bit in the footage left on the editing room floor! Overall though, great to see how a beginner can overcome the saw digging in on the start! Thanks Jamie!
Thank you! Ya the vertical part, for her, was all her elbow and arm positioning. In the outro she talks about her elbow being in line and pressure being the 2 main things she struggled with. Imma have to test her next time I see her see if she remembers hahaha
I'll start with, she's a whole lot prettier than you! 😆 Thought I'd mention; I use the knuckle of my index finger to guide the saw. Leaving the rest of my hand able to grip and support the workpiece. With my index finger bent in half, it creates a bulge where thebskin is above the teeth of the saw and the knuckle itself is on the wood.
Mothers always come through with the cutting comments. Good to get a unbiased view.
Nice of you to set her up with a wobble board to learn on. 🤣
Your mom's a good sport.
Hahaha right! I had to make it more challenging or she was gonna show me up! 🤣😂
Excellent lesson. More than that, I love how well you and your mom communicate and interact with each other.
Thank you! She is my mom and best friend (yes I'm a mommy's boy haha)

Your mother is awesome.
Go Mom! She did great!
Right! I think she learned faster than I did hahah

did you let her try Japanese saws? I think it’s really instructive to hear a woman’s perspective, particulary a rookie.
I did! She like japaneese saw the most, I saved the footage from that and will include it in the japanneese saw video :D
This is great! I love all the extras and watching another mom be a mom! #Joanfanclub
Thank you!!! I already talked to her about doing more videos too haha
