They could have at least put the 300 series motor in there.
Yeah, we've being wondering that too.
They have a back log of 300s, they can barely make enough of those. It wont make it too the 70 unfortunately.
I know one thing for sure, I WONT BE SELLING MINE ANYTIME SOON!!!!!!
Hang onto it mate! Wish we didn't sell ours
@@BAWAutomotive I feel like BAW has a 2024 VDJL79 locked away somewhere *wink wink* so does Ronny.
Pick up the V8 Troopy on Saturday , ordered it 2 years ago and Toyota rang me on on the weekend to tell me the bad news that we won't be getting the V8 we ordered , we got lucky as the second dealership that I looked at on-line had a Sandy Taupe just listed brand new for sale , deposit went down and paid the rest yesterday.
Talk about fortunate. 😊
Happy travels see you on the dirt.
Wow 😮 That’s so cool congratulations
I had 8 years in a HJ61 (12H-T) followed later by 7 years in a HDJ79 (1HD-FTE) followed by 6 years in a VDJ200 and now 5 years to date in a VDJ78.
All great iconic motors, but if I when it comes to getting a new replacement again, I'd go the 4 cyl Troopy - bit more room in the engine bay, easier to work on, same power as the V8 and parts will be plentiful. I'd probably take it with a manual which sounds like it will be the strong 5 speed H series box, and I prefer the manual and the better offroad fuel consumption that comes with it. And I prefer a Troopy to a Hilux or Prado because I like the Troopy lifestyle and it is a great remote travel vehicle with stronger rigid axles and 180L of fuel.
Yeah, Troopys are great remote camping 4WDs. More room in the engine bay will also be nice
I still think that Toyota should work on the old 6-cylinder 1HZ engine, make some changes to have more horsepower, torque and economy, because to this day it is one of the best engines that this version has ever had or use the engine from the LC 300 wouldn't be bad at all but only time will tell what will happen from now on.
Bringing back the 1HZ with more horsepower and torque would be epic. Warnie would love that!
Torquit will get some really nice exhaust speakers to make the 79 4 banger sound good.. I have a 79 if I was buying a new car it would be a 300 series don’t want an over priced Hilux
That would be epic, if they make an exhaust that makes the 4 cylinder sounds like a V8. There's not many differences between the 70 and Hilux now.
Pleased I got my V8 back in March, the 4cyl would not cut it for me
You snagged that V8 just in time. The roar of those 8 cylinders is a sweet symphony you won't find in a 4-banger
Ordered the 2.8 troopy last month. Will use it for weekenders and daily runner. Wanted the 4 cyl for better fuel efficiency, and all the reviews said it was a better engine anyway (not that I had a choice). The only thing missing was the manual option. Which is now a thing! so might change my order to get the manual instead. Sweet!
Congrats, mate! The 2.8 Troopy will be perfect for those weekend adventures. Have you seen our Troopy walkthroughs?
@@BAWAutomotive I saw a pretty nice looking blue one you guys did 😉
Looks like 1HZ reigns supreme in every slow lane around the world ❤
It's not winning any races, but it's definitely getting where it needs to go!
Hahaha yes, how good is the young bloke telling it like it is. Bring back the FTE!
Hahaha, Warnie loves the FTE!
@@BAWAutomotive Uppppp the FTE 🍻🍻
Had a v8 in my 2019 troopy. Wasn't impressed. Just ordered a new 79 and that little 2.8 is brilliant. Actually, it is probably the auto that makes it such a good combination. But it's damn good.
The auto makes such a difference. Wish I converted my V8 to auto
Landcruisers have aways been big motors! Just saying. My fuel economy in my 2020 seems to be no worse than the 2.8 auto. So I don’t get it. Its a euro 5? Or 4. Not sure with a dpf. Dpf works perfectly. I think we are playing a silly game of bs. Yes its not fast but it feels solid as.
Ps. I would buy a hilux 2.8 over a 70 all day long. Had hiluxs and they are great. But they are not landcruisers
That's it they feel solid as, that's why you can throw anything at them. 2.8 is great, just not a Landcruiser
Toyota motor corporation should release its Manual Version for lovers of manual transmission with the 2.8 4-cylinder engine with 6-speed manual transmission like the Hilux and also improve a new engine like 6 cylinders in line like the 1HZ 4.2, do it with the same technology of the 2.8 1GD in 6 Cylinders in line Turbo Diesel with more horses and Torque🛻🦾🇯🇵 Greetings from Venezuela 🇻🇪🇦🇺
Gracias por ver. The manual transmission will live on the 4-cylinder, making it more like a Hilux. We wish they'd developed a modern version of the 1HZ, that would be epic!
Thank god I got mine before Christmas 👌v8 rules 💯
Yeah the V8!!
It’s due to Toyota Japan ceasing the manufacturing of the VD engine in October 2021!
I reckon you might be right, there's not a lot of facelifted V8s around
@@BAWAutomotive
Toyota Global (Japan) announced themselves back in October 2021 that they had ceased manufacturing the VD engine and retooled the factory for V6 production. This coincided with the last VD 200 series coming off the line in August of 2021, which left only one very low production volume vehicle using that engine, the 70 series.
Toyota Australia are the ones who have purposefully been misleading the public in order for their dealer networks to keep the massive amounts of interest free loans in the form of customer deposits.
i had a PZJ75 troopy, HZJ78, GRJ76 and a VDJ76 now, the V8 is definitely not the best engine. Best sound, yes but thats all. The engine doesn't make the Landcruiser, its the whole thing. The 2.8 is great
Yeah, the whole LandCruiser package is what makes it truly legendary.
V8❤
Long live the V8
Is Toyota axing the 8 world wide or just in AU….I can’t imaging the UAE embracing half an engine for desert work….
Can't imagine it either, considering they get a factory tub, V6 petrol and a shorty version
My Grenadier has a straight 6 turbo petrol (can get a diesel for the beard strokers, but DPF!), oh yeah what a motor. Toyo is in struggle territory.
Not in the same league the Grenadear I am afraid
Seen a bit about them, would be keen to take one for a drive.
yeah, it doesn't have the legacy of a Land Cruiser
I just can't see people modifying the 2.8 to the same levels as the v8. I wouldn't think many guys would be doing a full jmax conversion or putting the huge money into them, might be wrong but you would be better off in a hilux or similar. We'll be keeping ours i know that
Yeah, we tend to agree. Only time will tell
I ordered mine in January this year and was told there’s a 18 month wait and I might not get one. Well lucky for me I only had to wait a couple of months as someone cancelled their order 😊 it’s now in my garage and I couldn’t be happier with it
Sounds like it's time for some mods!
About to collect mine on Friday , its a v8 😎
Nice, enjoy it mate!
If I wanted a hi lux I would buy one
Exactly!
It is so obvious that Toyota is trying to kill it all together in Australia.
Sad times really
Sure are
Ran out of time, change of plans then… I’ll keep my LC200 a virgin and garage it.. sell it in 10 years 😂. The 2.8 70s can still work with 35s and portals and some fine tuning… it will work 😊 Here’s the formula… Marks + JMACX + JA + BA = BAW You guys like that 😉
Can you believe we just sold our V8 79 series a week ago?!?! Every time we sell one... BOOM Toyota announces they are cancelling something. Same thing happened with our 200 when we sold it. Hold onto that 200 mate!
Double ouch Brett, sorry to hear… but hey, something better will replace them two… Hey Quick Q: what’s BA planning on the Ineos Chassis Cab? Are you guys going to look into that as well?
If One Could Tell Toyota In Japan 2 Cylinders Would Work Fine In 70 Series Bt In Other Parts Minimum 6 Cylinders Required Just By Puttin GR Badge N Giving Only 4 Cylinders Made Ranjerks Beat Hilux
The 2.8 is great! Have the 79 in it… rip v8
RIP V8 we'll miss your epic sound
Come on Toyota, why not V8 hybrid 😂
As long as it still sounds like a V8, count us in!
I ordered my one in Janunary, still haven't got the confirmation email from Toyota. Probably I won't be able to get it.
Hang in there, fingers crossed for ya mate.
Never selling mine.
Yeah hang onto it! Still getting over selling ours
@@BAWAutomotive can't believe you did! That thing was beautiful
If everyone stops buying 4cyl, they will rethink and give us 6cyl at least) meet half way.
In reality Australia is such a small market for Toyota
@@BAWAutomotive exactly, rest of the world shit on Euro standards. Don't know why we follow EU bs rules when the EU is only a tiny portion of this planet.
They want to compete with the Chinese, I bet they will go 4 cyl hybrid, the Rav 4 only comes in this configuration
Yeah, the Hilux seems to heading that way with the 48V mild-hybird in the 2024 model
They’re running out of oil as predicted by hubbert. About 25 years of cheap oil left.
Depends on which side of google you believe?
come to nz buy one then ship it back to oz
What is the option of converting a 4 cylinder into a V8 ?
Is it possible as per regulations ?
Yes you can.
And it’s because it also came with the v8.
If they were to have another facelift then it might not be able to be done.
@@theworkshopmechanicchannel3296 I presume you mean IF another facelift comes in 4 cylinder version ONLY isn’t it ?
Regulations are around buying a new car from the dealership. Since there are facelifted V8s so it would be possible to engine swap.
Would be cheaper to just buy a 2nd hand V8, still plenty of near new and low kms examples around and will be around for years to come, the price however will increase on the v8 in the used market though. You could buy new v8 from the dealer right now if you're willing to buy the extra $15k mark up, some of them even offer to do pre reg mods for you before they sell it to you as a *air quotes* used vehicle.
Toyota has lost it I think it’s the end of 70 series
It very well could be!
toyota could put a whipper snipper motor in em and charge $200k and fanboy idiots would still buy em, the new 2.8 is worth at best 45 to 50k
Hahaha, funny because it’s true
Now they are an appreciating collectors item..
No Toyota is a collectors item, seriously dude.
@@jellybean1976928 lol ok buddy, you do you and I’ll do me ok 👍
True. Took overly 10 years after the V8 was discontinued in the commodore for this to happen
I hear ya’s ruined my plans I’m still catching up in my 1 hz 😊
LOL
The Labor government has worked hard on this new law😉
urghhh
V8's are awesome, but Toyota? Seriously? They are the shittest most ugly rubbish available, and the Toyota V8 was just a copy and a gutless one at that.
The V8s are indeed legendary, but ugly and rubbish? Let's agree to disagree on this one
Waaaaaaaa.....Buckets of SHt.
RIP the V8
Cheap kits now
Cheap?
Goodbye toyota V8s hellooooooo yank tanks
American trucks have entered the chat
@@BAWAutomotiveI dont think its over yet, its only because Koji Sati the new CEO is all for electrification and hybrids, the main focus for toyota now is EVs and working around current tarriffs, emission standards and regulations. These vehicles will make up the bulk of sales and profits.
We may yet see the J70 re-engined with maybe the likes of a petrol hybrid. That is why they are entering the tundra as a stop gap. Like their competittors (Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Ford) I think diesel has had its day not through the fault of our own, but by pencil pushing basterds drving teslas.
