Simoncelli - Always A MotoGP LEGEND In Our Eyes. It was hard to believe Marco Simoncelli was no more. His fans watching the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang that day would have seen the injuries he sustained and sadly he died from those injuries. Marco was a young rider that could have achieved so much more as a motorcycle racer. He could POSSIBLE have been a MotoGP legend.
From the get go! Marco gave excellent performances on the racetracks. He was the 2008 World Champion in the 250cc class, and was already being marked at being one of MotoGP’s next rising stars to succeed the likes of Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo and Pedrosa.
Yes we all miss him on the tracks, but for the huge tall guy that he was, he sure could handle a motogp bike to the fullest…let’s have a closer look.
Marco Simoncelli began racing minibikes when he was seven years old at Coriano, his hometown, and rose to the Italian 1996 Minimoto championship when he was nine. He won the Italian Minimoto Championship in 1999 and 2000 and was runner-up at the European Minimoto Championship in 2000. That next year he rose to the 125cc Italian Championship and claimed a victory for the title in his rookie year. He then competed at the 125cc European Championship in 2002 and again was victorious.
After a great 125cc European campaign, he made his first GrandPrix appearance in august with Matteoni racing as a replacement for Jaroslav Hules, a Czech rider who had risen to the 250cc class. With an Aprilia bike and the number 37, Marco completed his first race at Brno in 27th position. In the next race at Estoril, he managed to gain championship points by finishing in 13th position. However, he failed to earn more points in the following races and completed the season with only 3 points from 6 races. Simoncelli - Always A MotoGP LEGEND In Our Eyes.

I was a huge Simoncelli fan and I remember watching his death live on TV. From that day onwards I started to freak out when I saw riders drop the bike instead of feeling excited to see a wreck. I met his dad in Philip Island in 2019. A true Gentleman . RIP 58
I was watching the race that day too, couldn't believe it. Loved watching him race. Marco was a nice fellow, as you say, his Dad was a gentleman, he had a good upbringing. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🏍️👍
Yeah, I've never been one to enjoy seeing crashes, most happen with none, to minor injuries, but there's always that chance that it could be career ending or worse. My 1st MotoGP race I attended live was the 1989 Laguna Seca race and after the race, on a cooldown lap a tragic accident happened that ended two careers and almost cost the life of one. I remember hearing the sirens and was so sad to hear what happened. These guys are true warriors RIP 58
@@mpreiss7780 that does sound horrific. We don't want to see or hear that in racing, I remember watching Romain Grosjean's crash live with on tv with my dad. We both screamed so loud and grabbed each other..
On a good note though I am happy to say I attended my first and only motogp race at Philip Island in 2019. Worked in Australia for a year. Such a great atmosphere
@@alexcarolan8825 Phillip Island, what a great track! I'd love to go visit there someday to watch a race.
@@mpreiss7780 Bubba Shobert and Kevin Magee. Magee stopped on the track to perform a burnout for the crowd and Shobert was not expecting anyone to be stopped on the track.
Marco was to be a motogp champ no doubt exiciting personality charisma and unbelivable to watch the world misses sic58
He definitely had what it took to rise in MotoGP, miss him on the tracks, thanks for your comment 🏍️👍
When rossi was struggling in the ducati simoncelli is my new guy to count on i remember watching together with my brother and my cousins they really don’t like simoncelli that much because they think he was to careless but i love simoncelli because of that R.I.P Marco
Thanks for paying tribute to a great rider and a great person. My bond with Simoncelli started in summer 2011, when i saw his face on a packet of San Carlo potato chips (i used to buy them in a supermarket near my grandparents's house). It was a time when i felt lost and in need of a teacher. When i saw his face on the chips packet, i thought that he was the teacher i was looking for, and so my biggest dream was to meet him. Unfortunately, when i heard that Simoncelli had died, my dream has shattered. But, even after he died, he continued to be an inspiration for me. Last summer i visited his museum in Coriano, his hometown. On that day, i returned a child.
P.S: at the museum i bought two souvenirs, a T-shirt and a breakfast cup made of aluminum, and recently (for my birthday) i received his autobiography and a keyring with his helmet. Sorry for the long comment.
He didn't take any crap and spoke his mind, I loved him. I started following Moto GP in 06.
Yip, he told it as it was...no holding back! Thanks for your comment 🏍️👍
Marco was great for Moto GP. He was fast, brave , talented and didn’t mind scrapping it out with anyone. He definitely would have been world champion and Rossi, Marquez, Pedrosa & Lorenzo would have been trying to keep up. R I P 58.
I agree, he was special...the man could race, took from us to soon - thanks for your comment 🏍️👍
Marco would have been a legend for motorcycle racing achievements but he is always going to be a legend to millions of fans anyway. Top man.
Very true - he'll always be a legend - thanks for stopping by and commenting 🏍️👍
Been at his museum. When I saw his motogp bike I started to cry. Miss you my hero!❤
A hero to many! ❤️
Do you recommend visiting his museum?
A legend missed😪
Will always be a legend in my eyes. A class act so exciting to watch and forever remembered and missed by all RIPmarco
Ours too! Yip, he was a great rider, plenty of excitement on race day when Marco was in the mix! Thanks for your comment. 🏍️👍
Thank you for telling the story of SIC. "You will forever be in my heart SuperSic 5️⃣8️⃣❤️🕊 ."
Loved making the video about him...missed for sure. Thanks for your comment 🏍️👍
Thank You So Much Moto Plus Channel for this Tribute to Marco Simoncelli 🇮🇹 #58! ...
Pleasure to do it for Marco...missed!
I remember watching his final race on tv. Such a sad day and terrible loss, for his family and and the motorcycle racing community. R.I.P.
Couldn't have been easy for his family watching that day! Certainly missed ❤️ Thanks for your comment 🏍️👍
R.I.P. SuperSic❤️. We miss you!
Marco would take the MotoGP championship no doubt. I also remember watching the incident live on TV,and as the other guy said i creep out when a rider has a lowside and holds on to the bike. It freaks me out badly because, let it go man the bike is replaceable and people are not. SuperSic will always be with us. R.I.P.
Marco Simoncelli 🇮🇹 >>> MotoGP Fans missed you so much! 🙏 May Marco Simoncelli be Blessed to a Better World & Realm! 🕯🌷🌿🌍💖🕊
Just a sad sad day and I remember it like it was yesterday. I lost several friends during my years of racing and losing Marco was no easier even though I did not know him. It seems like all racers are like family.
You're right CLAYTON KNIGHT! Anyone involved in racing seem to feel the loss heavily. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🏍️👍
He was one of the GOATs and sadly missed 🙏
He was - he would have went all the way - thanks for your comment 🏍️👍

MotoGP was never the same after that accident.
It did change a lot of minds in so many ways! Thanks for your comment 🏍️👍

THERE IS NO DENY HE IS!!!
Sir can you make video for 2015 motogp championship Rossi vs Lorenzo. Thank you.
@7:19 you show an image of Hayden Rossi and Bautista crashing. This has nothing to do with Marco. Well done.
The spirit of sic is on bez for now, cause he look more like him
😢
Ohh it's so sad
It was! RIP Marco. ❤🏍🏍
If he had not initially saved that fall, he would have simply slid off the track, got up, and walked off unharmed. The fact that he had the skill to force the front wheel back in contact with the track, thus turning it back into Rossi's path, is what led to his demise.
People need to believe that someone who dies young would have been a "legend", because it helps them deal with the loss. How easily they forget that he was considered a danger by the other racers.
It's OK to mourn a loss, but let's not try and turn him into the next Agostini, Rossi, Roberts, and Hailwood all combined.
Totally agree, he was virtually levering the bike back up onto its wheels. The other concern was his helmet coming off, I’ve wondered how good a fit it was with his hair?
@@hitop2365 When his helmet came off my heart sank. I have never rewatched the accident. I wondered if the hair had been a factor. My helmet feels different when I get a haircut and I keep it at military length.
His hair probably helped the helmet slid off his head but the fatal damage was sustained around the chest area so I don’t think that would’ve made a difference
Can't believe how he died and he was the first casualty at Sepang. Wonder where he wud be if the day in Sepang didn't happened
The only rider to really putting it up to MM Had it happened sadly was not to be, a unbelievable talent, and as usual put down for racing his way. If look at A B. Was doing to him to on that terrible day I'm sure it's sick 😫. Love ❤ Marco.
Most of us miss him - thanks for your comment 🏍️👍
💔🇮🇹
I read lots of comments saying Simoncelli was dangerous, or not that big of a talent, that he crashed etc. So do we want to count how many times Stoner crashed before turning into a genius? Or do we want to count Mark Marquez crashes ? Pilots always have to moan, Pedrosa accident wasnt Simoncelli’s fault, it s called racing, otherwise go play with your barbie! Simoncelli was a world champion in 250 and one of the biggest talents, he didnt even finish his second season in motogp, and for sure he d have won 2-3 championships by his retirement. Don t also forget that Simoncelli was very tall 185 cm and heavy, and was very penalised by the 800cc that had less torque and also the limit of 21 liters forced the team to have a lean carburation bec of simoncelli s weight they had to do this forcefully in order to prevent him to run out of fuel! Add up and the fact that honda was a minuscle bike made for dwarfs! These are huge factors in a world where even the smallest of things can cause the bike to be a shit or victorious, and despite these big things against him, he managed to be on podiums. I’ve no doubt that if he wouldn’t have been for that accident, the next season Simoncelli would have been ready to fight for the title
The way he rode was an accident waiting to happen tbh
Marco did push hard in all races - it's a pity it had to end like this for him - thanks for your comment 🏍👍
Lets not forget that Sideshow Bob was over aggressive on the track, ask Lorenzo. HE caused that accident and it was tragic! Watch that race again and say that he didn't.
Who is sideshow bob?
Obviously not a Simpsons fan...@@gs1100ed

Rossi fans gone quiet.
Simoncelli had a bad reputation among fellow motogp riders, he was too aggressive, reckless, and caused many accidents with consequences to others. He was quick in qualifying and often started on front row, only to crash within a couple of laps more often than not taking down others... Unfortunately for him luck ran out on that faithful day at Sepang...
So do we want to count how many times Stoner crashed before turning into a genius? Or do we want to count Mark Marquez crashes ? Pilots always have to moan, Pedrosa accident wasnt Simoncelli’s fault, it s called racing, otherwise go play with your barbie! This is not the right time to question his attitude or what he could have done differently. Always there are riders who were or are over aggressive like him , or Rossi or Marques nowadays, and others more respectful of fellow riders like Lorenzo or Stoner. Still, the loss of him brought immense sadness, he was such a joyful young man and a big prospect for the coming years.
He won’t be forgotten though. I hope his family can keep up his legacy.
He was reckless and a dangerous rider and something bad was always going to happen….. but these days when anyone dies they get deemed “legend” status…
Wow look at you sitting in your moms basement an having accomplished nothing critical of a true skilled rider. I bet you don't even own a motorcycle.
Still one of the biggest losses in motorcycle racing history 🙁
He is missed that's for sure!
I read he had to wear a helmet 2 sizes larger to accommodate the mop on his head.
I remember this theory floating around for a bit, but NA! Don't think AGV would have designed a Helmet for him that way and put their name on it. Thanks for your comment 🏍🏍👍
