A commenter pointed out some good info, that the optical structure on the left wing root is supposed to be a target identification system. For whatever reason, gaijin has implemented it as a laser designator (which is separate from the pod, but cant be used to guide LGBs ....), and this is one of the things I alluded might get fixed/changed soon.
You play top tier like an absolute retard, launching missile after missile that will clearly be very easy to evade or even miss completely your target, when they say top tier is brainless I now have your gameplay to confirm that claim.
@@sugsug1 Here ya go, ruclips.net/video/WbJR9hlsKnc/видео.html
The smile on the back is what gives the f4 the maneuvering. Totally
I have to admit, "Sledgehammer" is a great name for the Phantom.
Especially given how this thing ended up being used by everybody, not to mention the jokes about it beating the air into submission via its ungainly-looking shape.
it has many names like flying bus, double ugly, big iron sled...
@@phantom4E2 Funny, I always thought it looked badass
Well it is a sledgehammer stripped with rockets😂
Honestly I thing it might be a more appropriate for the airframe considering how it's been used and also how it flies😅
Considering the massive number of phantoms in the game I’m really confused why Gaijin prioritized implementing drop tanks on the new hawker hunter rather than the F-4 variants in this update lmao
funny thing - if you try out test flight mission (where you have 3 same friendly jets following you), your ally phantoms will have drop tanks XD
Phanthoms are the M4 of the sky
@@CobarGG are you sure it was fuel tanks? When I do the mission editor, the phantoms carry 3 of the 20mm gun pods and 2 of the 30mm gun pods
@@CobarGG the kfir had the first icon for drop tanks
@Mr1HS1 if you do it with AI Mirage F1's they are carrying a Phimat flare pod that's not accessible on the Public client
I've been waiting for this plane for a long time... a VERY long time...
I have a few complaints about it: As far as I know, it retained GBU-8/GBU-15 capability, so it would get those.
It still lacks the right amount of additional CMs, it should be 192 instead of 144.
The radar wasn't modelled correctly (they made it just a copy-paste APG-66 for the time being).
I can't wait until this thing can get Python IIIs...
Also, fun fact: the Kurnass 2000 not only never carried AIM-7 Sparrows in service (as it was a dedicated SEAD/DEAD/Bomber aircraft), but wasn't capable of carrying them (it lacks the illuminator to guide Sparrows)
Edit: 9:27 that's not a laser-designator: that's a TISEO system (Target Identification System Electro-Optical). It basically allows the Phantom to visually identify planes and see if they're friendly aircraft or not. It was added because of US Doctrine in Vietnam of visually identifying targets.
Good info. For whatever reason, they've implemented it in the game as a laser designator.
Love the dedication!!
Man, without those sparrows, it's not gonna fare as well in ARB
Got into a match with Tim while he was flying this plane out,
Great seeing ya Tim! Even if our team got wiped by yaks
o7
The little parachute man is just so happy to be there
Did anyone else notice that the 1st thing on the A/A checklist in Cockpit is Panic in English with most everything else being in Hebrew? got a little chuckle about that.
The hebrew section in the Kurnass 2000 cockpit is a bunch of nonsense, I really wish we would have more info on the cockpit of the Kurnass 2000 because theres only 1 picture and I guess Gaijin modeled the Kurnass 2000 cockpit after that.
That damn smiley face has been engrained in my brain for months thanks to one of your previous videos
Even though I know personally I probably won't be getting this jet for a long while, still rather fascinated to hear about it and how they've added it into the game. I've read through some of the other comments, one being around the plane itself not having the proper illuminator for the 7F for example, and the comment on the smiley face did make me smile. Great Content as always and, always love to see what you've got in store, almost always learn something I didn't before
P.S. If you look at the F-4EJ you also get a smiley face, but for the F-4EJ Kai, the smiley face lost an eye as sacrifice to Gaijin for the weapons. Best you pay some respects to the poor guy back there at some point!
Another excellent video, keep em up Tim!
Now that it doesn't have Sparrows anymore the radar is entirely pointless. Locking people is just going to make them panic and pop chaff/flares which you don't want when all you have is IR missiles. Best to just have it off from the start.
As of the third dev server on June 1st, the Kurnass 2000 has had the AIM-7F Sparrows removed, Python IIIs have been added, and it has been brought down to 11.3 Br.
8:29 Pantsir meaning carapace has the same word root as the German word Panzer meaning armor.
8:50 F-4E doesn't not have a build-in laser designator, TISEO (Target Identification System, Electro Optical) is a passive sensor.
Lovely video!
love this channel
This plane motivated me to restart my Israel grind in anticipation of their advanced weaponry
Love these videos. Now I check to see I if you've done a video on a plane, every time I unlock a new jet, just to learn about them. I've been going back and spading planes, and I noticed you don't have a video on the F3D-1. I know it's by no means new to the game but could still be a good video.
The F3D-1 is on the "medium term" list, I've wanted to cover it for quite a while.
It's next in my sights for unlocking, and it'll be my first tech tree jet, so a review, possibly highlighting on its ridiculous radar, would be much appreciated
He got sass, he touch grass, missiles up the ass but most importantly he Karnass
AN/APG 76 on the Kurnass 2000 is currently a copy pasta of the AN/APG 66 from the F16
Yep - and let me tell you how much I really wish they'd stop releasing planes with C/P radar and ballistics computers and updating them a month or two later .....
Ahh those smiley again
First time you told me from german phantom lol
Hope the US also gets an F-4E late (kurnass 2000 but slightly worse) with pave tack
nah, the current F-4E should simply be upgraded to carry pave tack. It's already the 1972 block-53 model, as evidenced by its J79-GE-17, agile eagle wings, so its already the right model to carry the laser guided ordinance
@@niggalini I’d rather it be 10.7 and still be the block 53 and then say a block 53 DMAS with pave tack at 11.3
Or a tech tree F4 S...
@@noobliterally2145 honestly i dont care if its 11.3 i want a decent f4e with all the weapons it lacks bc the snail is lazy
Actually, that thing on the left wing root is not a Lazer designator. It's the AAX-1 TCS television camera system. The same one on the later F-14 models.
Nice review, I'm nowhere near top tier jets so videos like this are my only interaction with them, ha ha.
Would you consider doing a re-review of the SK 60 and Saab 105g? For the SK 60, you didn't mention it's thrust reversers and proxy fuze bullpup missiles. And both jets got custom loadouts this patch, a huge buff for 2 planes with only pylon weapons. The 105 G can now take missiles and gunpods at the same time like it's premium cousin, making it a jury rigged fighter.
Strong chance I'll re-cover them at some point, they were one of my first videos and I'd like to cover them in my current format.
YOOO i got say this thing is insane
The odds of me flying this in WT are somewhere south of zero.
F-4E got a model update this patch too i think. It also got the elevator slats and stuff
I’m so used to using this thin in Wargame it’s weird to see it in Warthunder
hey, i've been looking at getting the prem F4S on the US TT. you always give good thoughts and advice on differant vehicles. whar are yours? pro's, cons?
Now we just have to wait for the Super Phantom.
The IAI Super Phantom was never equipped with the advanced avionics, just the engines. It wouldn't make sense to add it anymore
9:29 That's not a laser designator but an optical tracking thing I'm pretty sure. The Pave Spike module is the LD.
Another commenter posted some details. For whatever reason, the snail implemented it as a LD and it has one even without the pod right now.
One of the things I alluded might get fixed at some point.
It's a lego head on the back.
hello im playing the f-4J and lately it feels like the 7Fs cant hit as much as i was used to im not sure if it is the missiles the radar being nerfed or just me. is anyone else having such problems? thanks
3rd best Phantom of all time behind the ICE and Turkish Super Phantoms
Israelo super phantom>
@TimsVariety I don't know if know this already but the Kurnass 2000 is losing its aim 7's because the AN/APG-76 couldn't guide the aim 7's. Is there a possibility that you could look in this to see if its true?
Well now we don't have BVR in the entire tech tree now. Besides the F-4E with a terrible radar
I kinda wish you would include a cockpit view of the planes you review aswell
10:20
The 7E-2 has the same time to activate as the 7F.
watching top tier jets looks more like ace combat than warthunder
Can’t wait for it to get its pythons
And here I was under the impression that the EJ Kai was the ultimate Phantom II. Oh boy, was I wrong.
EJ-Kai is still pretty solid though, at least among Phantoms.
Havent heard of the F-4F ICE yet?
@@Serkay64 Well yeah, but AMRAAMs aren't coming any time soon. It should get AIM-9Ls though, so there's that.
@@ODST_Parker I would assume that the F-4F ICE will be added once Gaijin actually adds AMRAAMs too.
@@Serkay64 I'm honestly scared of how Gaijin will implement them. For instance, the Italian F-16A Block 15 ADF could mount them, because it was a modernized version. Will they simply add the missiles and bump the BR up a ton? Or will they add a whole new variant in the tech tree?
9:49 he went in so aggressively to say its so happy see?
Gotta focus on the important stuff!
What I like your videos.
And I'm the one that watches the full video. I watched your video were you went over who watches what parts of the videos.
Tim, what do you think about the chaos state air rb is in right now?
I haven't decided yet. It feels like its harder to get cool 1-on-1s with the larger teams, but that might just be perception bias. I need a few more weeks to form an opinion.
@@TimsVariety I have noticed that too and the stock grind is almost impossible at the top end
I want a revamp on this now it lost it's Radar missiles.
Actually nowadays it is better, it would get completly lost in 11.7 rn and pythons + flare pods are really solid upgrades with which it is still best phantom on 11.3🤔
@@jankolafa3901 I agree that it is one the of best Phantoms of 11.3, but not the best phantom. If it were to be 11.7 with radar missiles, I'd think it still competitive like the EJ Kai.
:) :D
Pretty good phantom but i will never get it
Does this Phantom have display and sight helmet ?
No :(
About the history sectiom, just gotta clear some stuff up:
The original Israeli upgrade program for the F-4E was the 'F-4-2000 Super Phantom' program, which was created for Israel to continue using the F-4E Phantom II as well as having a modern heavy dedicated strike aircraft. The F-4-2000 Super Phantom had one prototype, number 229, which is identical to the Kurnass 2000 but has the PW1120 engines instead of the original J79-GE-17s, and also a slightly different paintjob and inscriptions.
The F-4-2000 Super Phantom program was canceled as Israel aquired the F-15I Ra'am, a heavy modification of the F-15E Strike Eagle made for the IDF/AF, but Israel did not want to stop using the Phantom. The F-4-2000 Program, instead of being completly shut down, was cut im specs and the new engines were left out of the upgrade program, and thus the Kurnass 2000 was born.
IRL, the Kurnass 2000 never carried any radar missiles or AIM-9Ls, it only ever used the Python 3 as a self-defense air-to-air missile as the Phantom in Israeli service was removed from the air defense role already in the 80s. The Kurnass 2000 was used from 1995 to 2004 as a dedicated strike aircraft.
What's your honest opinion on the new Air RB?
I haven't decided yet. It feels like its harder to get cool 1-on-1s with the larger teams, but that might just be perception bias. I need a few more weeks to form an opinion.
@@TimsVariety Sounds good
What are the chances of an updated radar guide in the future?
100% , its just a question of when. The radar and weapons guides take quite a long time to produce.
@@TimsVariety no hurry at all brother, your stuff is worth the wait for sure

The israel air forces in real life its op
If only you didn't have to grind the whole Israel tech tree for it.
you're acting like it's the only tech tree you have to grind in the game with the rest of them being free
@@yoamal1187 it's more like most of the stuff in that tech tree is absolut shit and therefore not fun to play.
I just want to point out that many people go for 'dogfight only' (any plane) and when they get killed with 0 hits / kills. = 0 Silver and XP. So I hear complaints about hitting ground units. Looks they pay. Ground units PAY! better to go home with something than nothing.
I take a lot of flak for saying it, but ground pounding is a completely legitimate way to grind. There is more to the game than just the narrow turnfight/dogfight meta.
pantsir killed it all. need nerf
good flight performance? lol its flying brick and cant do anything vs miggers and f14/f16, and head on with dumb. and spade this thing i such a pain. Also kurnass dont even have thermal in target pod, so hello pantsir and his friends.
still better than the ja 37D
Yeah idk what tim was talking about saying this thing has acceptable to "good" flight performance, vs Mig 29 spam you really can't do anything.
