Politics in this era was so much more interesting. What’s so sad about Lyndon Johnson is that he had the potential to be one of the greatest Presidents in this nation’s history. Everything was there - the will, the skill, the requisite force of personality to push through Congress the most important social legislation in a century. But, Vietnam…the mistake that ruined American’s faith in government and gave us crooks like Reagan and Nixon. What a mixed legacy.
Johnson argued with Kennedy on 22nd November, requesting his best friend Connally be moved out of Kennedy's limousine and that his arch enemy Texas democrat senator Ralph Yarborough be seated in Kennedy's limousine, Kennedy refused his request.
CBS (Frank Stanton) right there in the pool with LBJ. No conflict of interest at all when you’re with a Democrat president. Way to keep it classy and unbiased CBS.
