I just woke up from a collar bone surgery with some serious complications, I feel horrible but watching agadmator gives me big comfort. Thank you for that!
Morphy was truly a Titan of chess. He's the father of modern chess in that he shows, as illustrated in this game, how the game of clever tricks can't compete with rapid development and control of space before embarking on adventures that presuppose your opponent making a mistake. It's amazing that so many of Morphy's moves are seen today to be the best choices. Astonishing.
Just keep going with this Saga and ignore the suggestions. It's pure gold and extremely instructive. The puzzles are amazing and the strategical concepts as well. Edit: With only one exception: 9th March - you know what I mean.
I actually think Meek played a pretty smart game, all things considered. It became obvious in the second half that Morphy was simply the better talent but Meek was wise to close positions and maintain tension early, not allowing Morphy to play the open games he loved and dominated.
What's nice is that after watching a lot of these videos and actually pausing the video to look for the moves, eventually you start being able to find them.
If Agadmator were to cover a game between Morphy and I: “Morphy with the white pieces, e4. And it was in this position that Dawudzboss resigned the game.”

Meek actually had an ok game but missing the upcoming temporary knight sacrifice was a serious blunder. Morphy could only go in that direction, so some extra preventative measures were clearly necessary which would have enabled Meek to then make some noise on the queenside.
Actually the tournament rule was 'First Player to get five Wins advances to next Round' - not 'best out of five'. - Draws did not count. An idea which Fischer tried revive some 120 years later...
Devastating attack by Morphy the knight sacrifice set everything into motion crazy closed position with all the pawns interlocking just great penetration from Morphy on Meeks kingside Thanks for the Game Agadmator enjoy your day
How I enjoyed the video from 5:15. It's so much fun watching those several checks, Meek had thought he covered everything. Just a Knight sacrifice and he's defense is wide open.
You can also checkmate by moving the rook to h7 after bishop to g6, discovered mate has to capture with knight and then u capture the queen, with a check, and then u capture his knight with the queen after he moves his king to g7
Yeah, the St.Dennis hotel. They all got kicked out of reception for bragging how good they were The hotel owner reportedly said "I'm not having chess nuts boasting in an open foyer"
I went to boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina and then got stationed 6 miles from there in Beaufort, SC. We pronounce it (Byoofort) with the long U vowel, like in "beauty." There's a Beaufort, North Carolina that is pronounced "BOW-fert." I have no idea why the different pronunciations. Don't ask why I felt the need to share this because I don't know. :)
There is a certain degree of sympathy for Meek. A smart, successful man. Crushed by a kid. Back then, it would have hurt more than today. Morphy is the first true chess prodigy.
Amazing how, before the knight sacrifice, the board is completely jammed up and nobody can find a good move; then about five moves later, the position is blown open, Morphy is completely dominant, and the win is inevitable. I know exactly how Meek must have felt.
There's a third mate here with bishop f6, followed by just moving the rook anywhere, like b7, then the only move for black is queen g7 and then you take the queen with the bishop
Agad - Meek replies with E6 and I know what you are thinking.
Me - No. I am here just to *enjoy the show.*
" seems like a very not human decision to me" Well Meek was a lawyer
So was morphy lol
Ah yes, my favourite chess players, Rick and Morty
Incorrect!!
When is the new season of Meek and Morphy coming out ?
A few chapter have already came out.
Yea I remember MorTy from NeverBorn Year.
E4 MORTY E4

From I total and complete stranger: I truly hope you get better my friend!

Hope you're feeling much better now and your collar bone is strong enough to lift chess pieces!
I'm so glad to hear that you are getting comfort ❤️. I hope you are recovering well and regaining your strength!!

Pretty sure Morphy was trolling him with that opening lol
Yeah that sounds like something Morphy would do
next time Morphy will play the bong cloud against him just watch
When you don't upload a video.. then I watch your two years old videos and enjoy your sleepy calm voice and the clicky sound of your keyboard. 😊

Damn advetures of rick and Morty🤣
Well he is wearing a rick and morty shirt

When I can’t afford Netflix
Finally some Morphy brilliance
it was gg ez
The first line of the video is enough for me to give it a like
9:49 - “But i think you know what happens”... That's not even spoiling the result: Morphy's name is the spoiler itself
Ah the daily piece of happiness!
"Aw geez Meek !"
-Paul Charles Morphy
this comment is underrated
Please do what it takes to get your dog Medo back into your videos, as we miss seeing him. (Is the new couch not as comfortable as the old one?)
Medo is the other half of the winning team.
Such a brutal attacking game wow that was sad
how can someone in croatia impact my schedule so much in india ?
This is my favorite game between the two. The build up of tension and the breaking of it are just beautiful!
okay you are getting a like just for that joke man

Morphy uses strategy and attacks with such great precision, GM’s today would have a difficult time beating him. He was amazing. This game was amazing
@Joe Blow That's true.. If he born in this age I don't think that even Magnus have a chance against him..

Morphy really was quite a genius among geniuses
Meek needs to win the remaining three games. Mission impossible squared.
I loved that bit.
Agad: "I think you know what happens."
Possibly the biggest understatement in chess.
Pickle Meek
Lol

The meek may inherit the earth but Morphy will still beat them in chess.
Whens the rick and morty saga?
Best intro ever

_Morphy plays inaccurately_

*If he had respected his opponent, he would have played a more accurate move*

This was like watching Tyson Fury beat up Deontay Wilder.

@Joe Blow Wilder's corner threw in the towel in the 7th round.
@Joe Blow It really wasn't. Fury was flat on his back in the 7th.

dies in a bath tub from a stroke cuz of the cold water. liked women's shoes. definite Oscar material there
Great game and great analysis. Agad and Medo are the best.
Thank you for advertising chess
Incredible attack. I knew from the situation black was in from the thumbnail that it looked like bad news for black.

Love your humor! Rick and morty
an absolute elegant take down. Just rolled hid defense out of the way and left the king exposed
More and more I think Ben Finegold was right, Paul Morphy was a time traveller who went back in time to just wreck everyone in chess for fun.
Just amazing
Ahgahahahaahahahahah x'D even my wife, who ain't a fan of rick & morty, laughed at the opening joke :D
That Rick and Morty line was absolutely classic..........

Agadmator : Hello everyone
Corona : may I join the game ?
Nice video Agad 😍
Great game
Updoot simply for the Rick and Morty call out! I'm sure I'll enjoy the chess too - I always do
There's actually a third way of getting to mate in 3 (which was the first way I found) although it still starts with Bg6.
1. Bg6 Kf8
2. Rf7 Ke8
3. Rc7
I kept hearing Rick and Morty in my head through the whole video. Lol
Meek & Morphy the prequel of Rick & Morty
What a brutal game, Morphy just ripped him to shreds!
New thumbnail picture for Morphy please and thank you :)
Hey Agad just a suggestion could you consider making diff videos i.e where you teach about openings and main line theory e.t.c.👍
Here to let you know he has started this recently. Cheers!
After Bg6 Kf8, another mate would be Re7 Qg7(blocking with the queen as a last resort) and then either Qf6 or Bg7 (simply capturing the queen)
Oh my that intro!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Meek was so defensive the way he kept pulling his pieces back thank god there was no ninth rank otherwise he would have placed them there too
No way, for the first time ever, I was able to pause the video and find the best move
suggestion i think there are more than 260 morphy games to cover for you ....and tactical lessons for us ...
There's a third mate here with bishop f6, followed by just moving the rook anywhere, like b7, then the only move for black is queen g7 and then you take the queen with the bishop

I like how for the first half of the video there were no pieces captured and the first capture that happened was a sacrifice by morphy lol

9:30 there's also Bg6+, Kf8, Rf7+, Ke8, Rc7# - a discovered checkmate, which is just cooler.
Beautiful knight sacrifice...
