I literally forgot I was only using a distortion pedal! I felt like I was playing a 100 watt tube amp! The feel and midrange growl from this thing sounds MEAN!
That sound absolutely killer! I ordered one this morning ! Going to run it thru my ksr pA50 tube power amps and Mesa 412. 🤘. I could listen to that chug all day! Great video
If you still have the Wendigo, it would be cool if you compared the two into an effects loop as preamps. I Know you did an overdrive presentation with the Wendigo and it sounded great. Also it would be cool to compare The Dirty Tree vs The Wendigo as overdrives pushing a high gain amp..I have never heard any opinions about the Dirty Tree against The Wendigo as overdrives alone🤘..Great Channel!
Thanks man much appreciated! So…That’s because the Dirty Tree is a clean boost, and the Wendigo is a distortion pedal. However I definitely use them both to overdrive amps in different ways. Your ideas have been noted for potential new content. 🤘
This might sound like a dumb question but when you mean “plugged into the power amp”, are you referring to the effects loop? I have an EVH Iconic head and I ordered one of these pedals today and was just wondering if I should also run it in the effects loop, if that’s what you did.
You can also buy an entirely separate power amp like the Seymour Duncan PowerStage and run a preamp into that. But in your case, it'll be guitar > whatever pedals you want in front of the 2716 (gate, tuner, overdrive, etc) > 2716 > Effects Return of the 5150. Warning, probably gonna be loud.
I used to have a Dual Rec made around 1994-‘95 bought new. Don’t know what the Revision F was. Mine was just a Dual Rec Solo Head. Did you try this pedal through other amps? When you say it was a little too bright and thin through the clean channel, you’re not saying it’s unusable, are you? Can you tweak it to keep too much brightness out and make it less thin sounding and still have grind, plus does it have adequate bass? You didn’t max out the bass so I figure there’s a lot more on tap. What you did do was very impressive and I like the clarity and definition it has but I wouldn’t be running it through a power amp, I use clean channels or non-master volume amps like a Marshall 1987 4 input standard. Thanks for a great review. Glad I found you channel.
Thank you so much for such kind words! Yes it’s fantastic through a clean channel too, plenty of bass and gain on tap! For the style I play it was a bit on the brighter side so it felt a pinch more solidstate. However I’m the video it opened up in a thicker way in my power amp of my dual rectifier. Thank you for checking it out.

Yes directly into Effects Return. 🤘
Hey man! Glad you're back. Maybe you should compare this to some AMT pedals? ;)
Thanks my friend! Oh not a bad idea. Different animals though.
@@AngryTonesRiffClips There is the rectifier AMT pedal? Granted, not a Rev F but still. Either way, sounded great!

Any idea how it compares to the Suhr Mini Riot?
It’s designed to be a Dual Rectifier revision F in a box. Never tried the Mini Riot yet so I’m not sure. But the 2716 pedal is MEAN!
Want one! Can anyone explain the meaning of "2716" ?
