i feel like the reason why the music for p4's final boss is so tonally different is because this is AN ACTIVE MURDER ATTEMPT, the previous final bosses were powerful (or armed for titan dweevil's case) creatures following instincts defending itself against the sudden attack (or attempting to get back something they obsessed over for plasm wraith's case)
Which is really scary for the fact that this creature is still the size of a lapdog. @sonic176yt7 Pikmin 4 is a weird alternative timeline "what if" scenario for Pikmin 1 where Olimar ACTUALLY uses the Interstellar Radio to call for help (and there's also Moss there, because why not?), which eventually leads to events of Pikmin 2 and 3. I think.
@@Poyomini yeah cuz in the first game, the description of the interstellar radio reads at some point "I would use it but it would take too long, I must continue my search!"
The electric phase and part of the final phase are in 5/4 time (or 10/8, i can't really tell) and I think the fact that they put that rhythm time in metal music is fucking insane
What really gets me is the first phase and ice phase, which I think may be in 15/16 and 17/8. There's also alot of meter changes leading into the vulnerable states. I sure do wonder who'll have the guts to cover this song lmbo
it might be a while before any comprehensive soundtrack gets uploaded, it seems like a ton of different enemy types add unique layers to the music which cant be easy to put together
Haven't seen anyone talk about it but the music that plays when the boss is vulnerable is a remix of the vulnerability music that plays during the Sandbelching Meerslug boss in Pikmin 3 That being said they did a great job with putting more music genres into the game and still make them sound like they belong even if you have no idea what the boss actually is. The vulnerability music and little sillier interludes/transitions where that trumpet comes back is just tell tale pikmin music and it's wonderful
This is like the modern day equivalent to "Porky Means Business!" given the context. The universe itself would shatter if Louie and Porky were to ever meet
Unironically the best pikmin boss in all of the pikmin games, and pikmin 2 was my favorite. Only time i genuinely had trouble was the electric phase, didn't learn fast enough when he was open and took a couple of tries to realize I'm supposed to get rid of the thunder fuzzballs. Didn't help i didn't bring any yellow pikmin with me either.
I think one of my most favorite parts about this song is not only does it legit defy pikmin music, but the various rythm changes, and the fact that every single time the sirehound is vulnerable, you can here a similar leitmotif in each phase's vulnerable state
When Louie said that “the true ultimate experience begins now!” And summoned a giant animal capable of using heat, cold, shock, and wave? Attacks to kill you and your pikmin
The fact this is so different to any other kind of music in Pikmin (in addition to what you're actually fighting) makes it pop all the more. Just watch out for those gloom puddles in the final phase :')
This so out of place for a pikmin game, and I love it. Just looking at the thumbnail and hearing this kind of music play over it is amazing to say the least.
Pro tip: during the Fire phase, trick Louie into shooting fireballs at the burning hairballs by standing in front of one and dodging. They’ll explode and make a shockwave, but if you jump over it and detonate all of them, it’ll be much more manageable when he starts making the Sirehound do shockwave sumo stomps.
Most of this Boss was surprisingly easy, but without destroying the Fire or Electro Furballs and keeping distance in his final phase when he yells, you can lose a ton of Pikmin. Plus, if you don't buy any immunities or upgrades whatsoever, this fight is still quite a challenge, especially that electro phase!
@@freshbowloflightningbolts Naah Plasm Wraith is too repetitive and easy to cheese (just bring 100 rock pikmin and you pretty much can't lose). This boss is actually difficult and exciting and kind of terrifying tbh
@@looney1023But this boss is piss easy with 2 purples, which you will always have due to the Water Wraith floor, and a bunch of Glow Pikmin, removing a lot of the testing of using different Pikmin types. In 3, all the Pikmin were useful, and just using rocks would not be the optimal strategy due to how slow that can be and the fact you are still on the clock for the fight and don’t want to waste time for mere safety.
I didn't expect this to go full prog metal with those uncommon time signatures and wildly shifting motifs lmao. I did it deathless but I was just stank-faced throughout. What an amazing boss, what an amazing game
I LOVE that they included odd time signatures into this, it really gives us insight into Louie’s mind. He’s a complete and utter lunatic, sure, but he’s also an absolute idiot. Yes, he did try to kill people who were trying to rescue him, (on two separate occasions,) but he’s so dumb he doesn’t even know WHAT he’s even doing half of the time. As the track goes on and you beat common sense back into him, the track slowly becomes more stable and regular, like he’s starting to realise what’s REALLY happening. But, eh, this whole thing’s a power trip and a half so he’s going to enjoy this at least for a LITTLE while longer.
i love how pikmin can just have a complete tonal shift from the rest of the game and have it work so well a disco spider that plays party music and uses airhorns and dances around? sure thing. a giant menacing dog with heavy metal controled by louie that is like bowser with a 5 stage boss fight using an insta kill hazard in the final phase? why not. a cave you can only use blues in with varies hazard types and creepy ambiance that leads to being chased by an extradimensional steamroller? yeah that works they really seem to know how to make something weird for the series and do it like; perfectly i do know some people arent a big fan of this boss cause of the heavy metal and how different it is but i think it comes together really well. space dogs are a big focus of the game and are sort of what the game focuses around really (pikmin 1 it was the shipwreck; 2 it was the debt; 3 it was the food supply and now its castaways and space dogs) so having the final boss be the ultimate castaway (louie) on the spaciest dog in all of space checks out really well also i dont think the element thing needs any explanation; its sort of out of nowhere but cmon man; rule of cool

But it is straightforward to deafet use yellows for electricity and you don't have to worry about the rest. I guess the titan dweevil would be even more easy if electricity wasn't an Insta kill.
I'm just glad we didn't have to finish the game with a dandori battle, would've been unfair as hell
@@Leostar-Regaliusthe last one was kinda hard though
I wouldn’t call that final phase poison I called the phantom phase.
Nintendo gave their hardest boss theme to a shih tzu and im all for it
A superpowered shih tzu, but still.
Louie fans got their wish. They get to fight him as a final boss FOR THE SECOND TIME
Cannononicly one after the other because 4 is a prequel to 3
me who is literally louie
@@klaptrap1131well no because every game before 4 is wiped off the face of pnf-404
The electric phase and part of the final phase are in 5/4 time (or 10/8, i can't really tell) and I think the fact that they put that rhythm time in metal music is fucking insane
amazing music/ sound design.... although I'm not a fan of heavy metal in a pikmin game. The ART is praiseworthy
you would love prog metal
Not uncommon for metal, probably one of the most pretentious variants of rock music; of course it would have odd time signatures!
What really gets me is the first phase and ice phase, which I think may be in 15/16 and 17/8. There's also alot of meter changes leading into the vulnerable states. I sure do wonder who'll have the guts to cover this song lmbo
Thank you, it's about time someone uploaded this
yooooo
it might be a while before any comprehensive soundtrack gets uploaded, it seems like a ton of different enemy types add unique layers to the music which cant be easy to put together
who put DEATH METAL in my PIKMIN GAME?!
We need to make sure they get a raise!
Haven't seen anyone talk about it but the music that plays when the boss is vulnerable is a remix of the vulnerability music that plays during the Sandbelching Meerslug boss in Pikmin 3
That being said they did a great job with putting more music genres into the game and still make them sound like they belong even if you have no idea what the boss actually is. The vulnerability music and little sillier interludes/transitions where that trumpet comes back is just tell tale pikmin music and it's wonderful
I wasn’t expecting to hear FUCKING metal music in a pikmin game.
This is like the modern day equivalent to "Porky Means Business!" given the context.
The universe itself would shatter if Louie and Porky were to ever meet
This boss theme has to go in my top 5 fav. final boss theme so far. Goes under #1: Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit.
I adore two planets approach the roche limit
@@Scott...it comes from Kirby and the forgotten land.
Didn't help i didn't bring any yellow pikmin with me either.
basically had the same thing happen to me but I actually had yellows.
If you don't have yellow you can easily use your Glow Pikmin seeds since they're immune to all elements. That's what I did.
Same thing with me, but i just took everyone back to the beginning and broke them with Oatchi and it wasn't too bad
You can get rid of them??
I was doing my damnest to jump over everything and keep my 100 original alive 😅😂
@@wintersong2266I had 100 pikmin so I couldn’t do that either
During the last phase I didn’t know he could roar multiple times in a row and all my Pikmin died 😭
WE MAKING THIS FIGHT WITH WRONG TYPE OF PIKMIN 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
The Binding of Louie, Antibirth
Louie casually getting away with attempted murder for the second time:
I legit threw 6 white Pikmin into the gloom because I thought it was poison 🤦♂️
I get Paper Mario: Origami king at the “vulnerable” parts of the song
I did NOT expect this from a Pikmin game! It was thrilling and fun and the music rocked! Definitely my favourite cave in all of Pikmin!
i was very excited to see what the final boss would be, and i was so happy with how it turned out. I’m glad it was both well designed and dangerous
How did I not realize that different phases have different "vulnerable" themes? They're my favorite part of the whole theme.
This so out of place for a pikmin game, and I love it. Just looking at the thumbnail and hearing this kind of music play over it is amazing to say the least.
Can’t wait for GaMetal to get on this one.
I love that you are referring to trick Louie and not the Sirehound itself, knowing well its not the sirehound making these actions thats for sure.
Or you could just destroy them with reds.
Most of this Boss was surprisingly easy, but without destroying the Fire or Electro Furballs and keeping distance in his final phase when he yells, you can lose a ton of Pikmin. Plus, if you don't buy any immunities or upgrades whatsoever, this fight is still quite a challenge, especially that electro phase!
my headcanon is that louie goes to mosh pits while this plays idk don't ask me why
Wait a minute...
This isn't a Pikmin music...
This is...
A Paper Mario music !
thats what i said to myself while thinking "man i really should've bought that shock collar"
It does sound like TOK's metal.
The vulnerable phases sound like they were ripped straight out of The Shifty Sticker
This isn't Paper Mario music...
This is...
GRAND METROPOLIS!
Definitely sounds like a Stapler or Galacta Knight boss theme. The Nintendo composers hit the ball right out of the park with this one!
Nintendo games are getting a serious knack for metal final boss themes lately, and I am all for it
Same.
The flying variation of the music is lucky it’s my favorite cuz I was stuck on that phase for a while lol
Now that I think about it, this reminds me a lot of Paper Mario: The Origami King final boss theme.
you can hear a bit of the Leafy Showdown theme (dandori battle) at 3:28 when he's vulnerable, lots of neat details in here
I was NOT expecting this for a Pikmin boss theme and yet it fits perfectly. Best final boss in the series!
Wrong. Plasm Wraith.
@@freshbowloflightningboltsunlike the plasm wraith you actually have to try
@@freshbowloflightningbolts Naah Plasm Wraith is too repetitive and easy to cheese (just bring 100 rock pikmin and you pretty much can't lose). This boss is actually difficult and exciting and kind of terrifying tbh
@@freshbowloflightningbolts nah bruh it’s impossible to lose to plasm wraith with rock pikmin. He’s a cool design but thats such a huge oversight
Anyone else notice how the dogs eyes were red while Louie was on top but when he got off he calmed down. Y’all think he was controlling the pup??
It’s Louie, of course he was 😂
The boss seems to normally be pretty docile without Louie so I’m sure he was why it attacked in the first place
I laughed out loud when this started playing, it was the last thing I was expecting. Such a great ending to a near perfect game.
you ain’t built for these sublevels son
I didn't expect this to go full prog metal with those uncommon time signatures and wildly shifting motifs lmao. I did it deathless but I was just stank-faced throughout. What an amazing boss, what an amazing game
Heavy metal in a Pikmin game. Never thought I'd live to see the day. This theme is awesome.
WERE GOING THROUGH 20 SUBLEVELS OF HELL WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🗣🔥🗣🗣🔥🗣🔥🗣🔥🗣🔥🗣
I NEVER WOULD HAVE EXPECTED METAL IN A PIKMIN GAME I'M ALL FOR THIS
i love how pikmin can just have a complete tonal shift from the rest of the game and have it work so well
a disco spider that plays party music and uses airhorns and dances around? sure thing. a giant menacing dog with heavy metal controled by louie that is like bowser with a 5 stage boss fight using an insta kill hazard in the final phase? why not. a cave you can only use blues in with varies hazard types and creepy ambiance that leads to being chased by an extradimensional steamroller? yeah that works
they really seem to know how to make something weird for the series and do it like; perfectly
i do know some people arent a big fan of this boss cause of the heavy metal and how different it is but i think it comes together really well. space dogs are a big focus of the game and are sort of what the game focuses around really (pikmin 1 it was the shipwreck; 2 it was the debt; 3 it was the food supply and now its castaways and space dogs) so having the final boss be the ultimate castaway (louie) on the spaciest dog in all of space checks out really well
also i dont think the element thing needs any explanation; its sort of out of nowhere but cmon man; rule of cool
This OST reminds me of Paper Mario Sticker Star/Origami King. Metal works surprisingly well in both Paper Mario and Pikmin.
This music caught me so off guard when I reached this boss. Honestly, this and the Groovy Long Legs were probably my favorite boss fights in the game. I was kind of disappointed that there weren't as many original bosses in this game compared to some of the previous Pikmin games. You can only fight Emperor Bulblax so many times...
This reminds that time they went Heavy Metal with Baby Bowser in Yoshi’s Island. Unexpected but appreciated
I adore this boss theme. It’s so high energy and action packed.
*louie has not taken his pikpik flavoured normal pills*
This is the furthest you could get from a Pikmin song in terms of instruments, but you know what it works.
And gloovy long legs music?
@@perritogamer2630 groovy long legs's music is diegetic so at least it makes a little bit of sense
Groovy Long Legs music is more a beat with some slight synth added. Ancient Sirehound meanwhile sounds like a full on Kirby boss theme. Both are really good pieces though.@@krubbington
Never noticed how the first vulnerablility theme has a motif from the Rescue Command Post's theme
3:39 Wasn't expecting a Pikmin track to be djent all of a sudden.
I absolutely love that the vulnerable theme is a callback to the vulnerable theme from the pikmin 3 bosses!

I don't care if I get hate because of this opinion, but this is my favourite Pikmin final boss song.
Lmao it's because you're like 9, haven't even played the other games I guarantee you.
@@chuggarchive how about we agree that you are a jerk Everyone can have their own opinion And that it is the internet so no one cares about your opinion to begin with. Also i to enjoy this music, it is rather catchy!
also instead of throwing insults at me why dont you try to get me to see things from your perspective? It would be alot more time efficient and unlike insults, actually accomplishes something in the long run. Or you can continue to assume that i am a mere child that does not know of the...3? other pikmin (or was it 4?) Or has even played them, both opinions, being completely wrong.

So, we know that from the game, Smoky Proggs are what happens when a Mamuta egg gets inundated with Glow Sap.
How the hell can this dog manage not just the various elements, but also the instakill gloom without collapsing upon itself? And more importantly, how did it manage to acquire these powers?
