I love Samin so much! I was introduced to her by her fabulous book “Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat.” I don’t remember why I bought that book as I had never heard of this woman, but I am so glad I did. First cookbook I read like a novel! She is such a beautiful spirit and spreads joy anytime she is even near a kitchen. 💕❤️💕❤️💕
I love her ! She's my favorite. Her personality and smile are absolutely contagious. These recipes look amazing. And I agree, Thanksgiving menus are usually painfully boring. 🤣

Yay, I love Samin. Her energy is so warm and fun. It's always fun to mix things up now and then. That's why I'm making a chai apple pie and putting chinese five spice in my pumpkin pie.
I have herby fried shallots in my fridge AT ALL TIMES NOW. She's right though - those shallots keep browning for a while, so take them out while they're still kinda beige.
Samin's solid understanding of foods, flavours, and science of cooking never fails to amaze me whether through reading her book or watching her vids. Love watching her breakdown any recipe!
Let's face it, the Anglo-American Thanksgiving canon needs a lot of help, and these condiments are such a refreshing and inventive departure from the norm. I love how Samin gets you thinking about flavor palettes and texture contrasts in a way that really inspires and gives you the framework and confidence to build delicious dishes on your own. I'm for sure gonna make the salsa verde this year, though I'm tempted to make all three cuz they look so damn good.
My family is Chinese and let me tell you it always has been the best Thanksgiving dinner I've had!! We are so particular about the texture/juiciness of the turkey and I think that comes from our chicken dishes like for example Hainese chicken. Over cooking poultry literally is the worst. Our sauces are tasty and salted to a t! We even make our stuffing out of rice and put soya sauce in it. Makes me really proud to include bits and bobs of my ethnicity's food combine it with my home country and make a killer meal out of it!
@@hovi8050 Oh my god, it's like pulling teeth to convince the elders in my family to let me butcher or spatchcock the turkey so we can actually have juicy breast meat for once in our lives. They're so married to the idea of having a Norman-Rockwell-esque whole bird coming out of the oven that they're willing to eat something of inferior quality in every other way. I love the idea of rice stuffing! Andrea Nguyen shared a recipe on the Splendid Table with glutinous rice, chestnuts, cilantro, and some of the turkey liver, which sounds divine!
@@rafangille Don't get me wrong, it's fine, just gets a little monotonous after a while. I for one would have no qualms if someone put fresh tortillas on the table instead of cornbread. Tacos with roast turkey, Brussels sprout slaw, and some of the spicy chutney Samin made in this vid? I'm there!
@@rafangille I agree. It's absolute total comfort food. I'm from Georgia and we don't play on Thanksgiving! However, I love the look of the herby fried shallot and bread crumb crunch, and the cilantro-date chutney looks like it would great to jazz things up, especially the left overs.
SAMIN!!! THE FRIED SAGE SALSA VERDE WAS EPIC!!! We made it this year with butt-tons of sage from my parents garden. We're making it again for xmas but at least three times as much. I keep starting sentences with "I wish there was more salsa verde!" complete game changer!!!
I made all of these recipes and OMG they were spectacular. The chutney was good at dinner but GREAT on the sandwiches. I also made the buttermilk turkey and it was a huge hit and a 20lb bird cooked in two hours and was juicy and yummy. I am so very glad to have these recipes all year around. Samin, you are my favorite!
I might be spoiled by my family of great cooks, but I love Thanksgiving food. It could be the main problem with the traditional meal is that many people aren’t used to preparing such a huge feast under the dual pressures of making arguably the culinary holiday highlight of their guests’ years and generally having only a few hours in which to do it well. Samin’s sauces would be delicious additions to enhance dishes and-bonus-mask some imperfections. Delegate their prep to reliable guests and you’ll really crush it!
made the salsa and the breadcrumb topping for tomorrow and i'm so excited! Ever since watching Samin's netflix special i've loved discovering to balance my plates and so this came at the perfect time! excited to see how the salsa brightens up the turkey tomorrow! Always excited for more Samin!
Samin is so adorable, and I've been a fan for a while (since The Splendid Table introduced me to her work). This is just good technique-driven teaching, which is her hallmark. Thank you!
I was so happy to see her cooking on this channel, I love her and her style. She is just the best, very talented, natural, kind, and actually a great teacher as well, so easy to follow her instructions. And the little dog, Fava Bean, I just can't take the cuteness level ❤️💗Hope to see you soon Samin 🥰
So happy to see Samin! Love her book, her show, and her podcast “home cooking”. Her laughter and candor are theraputic! I just litened to the latest podcast episode about thanksgiving, where she talked about elevating the meal. So great to see this video so that I can follow. Will definitely make the fried shallots😋
Dear Samin: You've finally embraced your hair. It's spectacular!!! It exudes as much joy as the salsa verde. Thank you so much for rescuing our Thanksgiving. First "thanks" goes to you!!
I love you so much! I was raised with thanksgiving have always hated the meal until I learned about salt, fat, acid. I don’t think my family appreciates my contributions as a whole but I love them! So do my BFFs at Friendsgiving after. Or maybe we enjoy the wine 🤷♀️
When this channel started featuring Claire and Sohla who now both have other avenues to cultivate their content I knew I could support this channel across the board. On other channels, I support the person standing in them and nothing else. I like to be very clear about who I support.
Man! The idea that we lean so heavily on Cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving because it's the only tangy part of the meal is a REVELATION! So true. Definitely adding these condiments to my repertoire.
I was definitely lucky to grow up with amazing Thanksgiving dinners that friends always made sure to make it to in the evening (we eat quite late) for their “second Thanksgiving” as our house arguably had the best meal. 😂 Yet I am very excited to test some of these and bring them to the table this year. Thanks for sharing your inspired ideas, knowledge and utterly delightful personality with us. 🥰
We love you Samin! Thanks for these great ideas. That fried sage salsa verde is a GAME CHANGER for those of us who have prolific sage plants and never know how to use it! ;)
Oh the joy ! Am so delighted NYT brought you to our flagging attention because your take on these vittels is sooooo refreshing... our Covid fatigued brains and knivesneed a shake up. Thank you for sharing these lovely twists/plays on annual themes. Please keep sharing your magic with us. Love from London : - )

Did you see her Netflix documentary?
@@chefdavidrivoli Of course!!!! I think I’ve watched it twice? Maybe three times? I love how she just wants everyone to have fun and enjoy food.

She just gets the assignment. Every. Time. Love Samin Nosrat! We need more shows from her here and on Netflix!
I missed Samin's smile and laugh since I finished her netflix series. Such a lovely person.
What an amazing chef and teacher. Her rich history of Persian cooking only adds to her beautiful modern approach! I call her the original saltbae 😅❤
I have herby fried shallots in my fridge AT ALL TIMES NOW. She's right though - those shallots keep browning for a while, so take them out while they're still kinda beige.
Made the shallot and bread crumb topping for my family’s green bean casserole today and it was a HUGE hit! New staple for our Thanksgiving table☺️

How cool is that kitchen?!!! Never mind the turkey, I feel the need for green tiles and plywood...
Samin you are a food genius! Love the salsa verde idea!!! However, I think I’ll use the air-fryer to crisp up the sage!
