    Isn't it strange how when society judges those on the streets strung out and addicted. Society calls them junkies and etc. Yet we have actors and actresses who come out as addicts and we say oh how sorry we are. Yet we don't give those on the streets the same compassion.

    • @geertruivanbroekhoven7209
      @geertruivanbroekhoven7209 2 года назад +57

      Very true. Help, unfortunately, is mostly for the rich. MP wrote his book. Good for him. But most people can't relate to his story. Spending millions on rehab and help ? Calling people when you hit bottom ? People on the street are on the street because they reached bottom. Period.

    • @animula6908
      @animula6908 2 года назад +25

      As long as you are an addict on substances, only God has the power to help you. Nothing is a bigger waste of human lives than drugs and alcohol. It’s extremely sad. For what it’s worth, I pray for the people on the streets whether it’s by drugs or mental illness or other circumstances. Just because it isn’t publicized, that doesn’t mean people don’t care. There are programs to help them you can participate in too. If they know people care it can encourage them to care enough about themselves to change. I never think much about the celebrities. I usually pray they’ll stop being stupid in general.

    • @daniellemayo4962
      @daniellemayo4962 2 года назад +10

      @@animula6908 yes ur correct, lots of programs to help with addiction..... which cost money. When everyday people bring up active addiction or needing help immediately judged and chastised. Celebrities come out on personal struggles with addiction and relieve sympathy sprinkled with accolades. Which is the main reason active addicts don't reach out for help or maintenance programs to control the addiction cravings for them.

    • @kindnesslove5482
      @kindnesslove5482 2 года назад +9

      Very good point.
      Although I don't think the money helps you fighting addictions, it gives you so many more ways to indulge as well, and get yes people around you.
      How we judge the people on the streets or don't want to let them get as close as we are comfortable with rich people with the same problems is a very astute observation.

    • @daniellemayo4962
      @daniellemayo4962 2 года назад +6

      @@kindnesslove5482 addicts who have money have more resources available to them when they seek treatment or maintenance program
      Money also helps the well off get them or someone they know in a facility instantaneously. Let's admit it, most active addicts aren't concerned if they have medical insurance while they are deep in their addiction.

    I know we have lost a lot of famous people over the years, but losing Matthew Perry has to be one of the saddest. He wanted to be a father, and never got to be one. That's so sad in itself. He went through so much pain, and was taken away too early because of it. I hope he's at peace now. I loved his character in Friends, Chandler Bing, you were loved, and Matthew Perry you were loved even more. RIP. ❤️

      Exactly, I never could tell he was facing all this. He's very professional obviously. Where as Charlie Sheen even though a good actor, you could tell he was a little intoxicated or inebriated toward the end of Two and a Half men. How both guys managed to do their job still is amazing.

      @@easye5653 The thing is, everyone looks and judges everybody from the outside but nobody knows what's really going on the inside. You can look perfectly healthy and happy and still be both unhealthy and suicidal.
      There are RUclips videos of seemingly happy people who then killed themselves the next day. You just never know what's really going on behind the scenes but I can assure you, some of the most happy-looking people are often the most miserable, just by the mere fact that they desperately try to look happy to everybody else.

    I never had an addiction, well in my early 30s it was beer for about 3 yrs and realized it was not what I wanted and stopped.
    I will buy his book because I'm curious of his struggles and why taking so many pills. I hope maybe people who know someone addicted can buy this book to give to them to help them. I don't know anyone addicted but perhaps after I read it I can bring it to a homeless shelter to share or a church or rehab center. I don't know where but will do something with it. #MatthewPerry

    Matthew showed Diane Sawyer the clip from the final scene in Season 6, “The Proposal”. Then he showed the first scenes of Season 7. He’s wearing the same clothes, but had lost 50 lbs in the off season. It’s startling and terrifying.
    I started watching FRIENDS episodes on cable just to see him in different seasons.
    Once FRIENDS ended I’ve never watched episodes again, until now.
    I got his book, and admire him so much for putting all his ugly secrets out there.
    He did it for one reason; he thinks he can help someone. Help five thousand, or help five. He feels he lived when he should have died.
    And now it’s his responsibility to “pay it forward.”
    Thank you, God, for letting Matthew stay with us.
    Now that he doesn’t feel like a total failure I hope he’ll find his love, get married, and start having those children.
