It's really sad that one of the main reasons Matthew suffered was his parents. He was never married, broken , depressed all alone and died very young at 54.while his parents both of them are still alive, his father is 84 and his mother idk. But both of them married again lived an ordenery life. The clear message of this chapter is that if you're not ready to become a parent don't become. They destroyed the life of an innocent soul just for minutes of fun and irresponsibility.
i know what he's talking about, unless you've been where he's been you can't understand it,i don't feel sorry for him,i understand him,is he at peace now who knows, you know he did this to help people going through same thing, what a guy ,god bless
What Matt wanted passionately.. was not to be remembered as a “Friends character” who we all grew up on it every week back then.. he wanted to be remembered as an individual who’d just help someone else if he could.. that’s actually what we all should be doing in general.. one thing nice each day
Thank you for posting this I heard MPs audio book on Spotify and I couldn't still listening to it as one of millions who feels like they know MP through friends™ and someone also who has faced drug addiction this is one of very books from the secular world that really means something to me I admire his honesty and very real description of the highs and Lows of addiction is also a great insight into the running of friends™ anyway thank you for posting this I don't actually have Spotify or anything anymore so yes I will be listening to this until its finished probably at work and probably again and again in the future...so thank you
Does anyone remember the muppet show? Hecklers where up in gallery.. taking the pee ? Jim Henderson created all that .. most of society are exactly like the hecklers.. just to sit there and do that .. Judge on everyone up in the gallery of life 😁
If you've never had a parent who never loved you and have been addicted to something because they involved you in their crazy escapades you will never understand this the word accountability is a two-way street not one person should not be held accountable if your held accountable someone else needs to be held accountable too if no one understands that in order for someone to be held accountable everyone must be held accountable then this entire generation is stuck in a moral generational Gap because so many parents are blamed for what their kids do but with this in mind I am a Christian who also believes in respecting your parents and yes I don't believe and blaming my parents for my problems if I have a problem I am going to blame myself for it no argument end of story but if you were going to come and try and make someone else feel bad because they are trying to tell you an honest to God story about how they got to this point in their life then don't bother commenting on something that you have no concept of if you've never walked a mile in someone else's Marcus's don't be so quick to judge
Could not agree MORE with these replies. This book, his countless interviews and admissions, his acknowledgment of what pain/inconveniences he caused himself AND his loved ones, etc = TAKING ACCOUNTABILITY! If facing such controversial personal struggles head-on and admitting when you fall short as you try taking ACCOUNTABILITY isn'tactually taking accountability, then what is?? Tell us, what is enough for YOU to be content with HIS level of "accountability". Doubt you've ever pubclicly confessed a single fault of your own. Yet, here you are: judging someone who has written a book and had the nation's eyes and judgements on them any time they left home, spoke openly about it...you name it. NO WAY you understand HIS life..smh People really need to focus their concerns on their own issues and show grace to those focusing on theirs.

My 4th time listening! Afraid I miss something!
29:00 broke me as a mom. No 5 year old should be on a airplane by themselves!!! 😢
It was normal back then so you can’t blame the parents

From the Great Beyond
I can hear neurological problems. I heard it in Scott Weiland. Now I know what people sound like when they are going to die. People with money.
Does anyone know about Billionaire Howard Hughes?
Is this his actual voice or AI?
This is 100% his voice. He mentioned it in an interview he did in Canada prior to his death.
My name is Matty and I should dead 😢
😢
SO HOW MANY COMMERCIAL BREAKS ARE ON THIS ..TWO SO FAR
He sounds like he has an excuse for all his failures.
No accountability.
Always someone else's fault.
