In an age of darkness light appears
And it wards away the ancient fears
March to the anthem of the heart
To a brand new day, a brand new start
To wonderlands of ice and snow
In the desert heat where nothing grows
A tree of life in rain and sun
To reach the sky it’s just begun
And as we came into the clear
To find ourselves where we are here
Who is the wiser to help us steer
And will we know when the end is near?
    Beauty lives in every soul
The more you love the more you know
They pass the torch and it still burns
Once children then it’s now our turn
And as we came into the clear
To find ourselves where we are here
Who is the wiser to help us steer
And will we know when the end is near?

I thought the people that could make such song are either long gone or in their 70s. Proper rock&roll band! Its obvious that the singer was influenced by Robert Plant, and I dont mean his voice but the way he moves his hands in some live performances. Which is cool because I love Plant and LZ. That voice though is super rare nowadays. And, of course, every band was influenced by someone from or before their time. But when, for example, Jimmy Page or David Gilmour talk about their infliences I just dont know any (or most) of the people they talk about. Cant stop listening to GVF and I just recently discovered them from a Robert Plant interview.

Those bands grew sonically from trying to. The "oh they are young" thing doesnt hold water as all the great bands had written their most ground breaking songs.
You arent gonna push new ground trying to copy someone else endlessly.

@@eclectic2327 you mean rising sons, black mountain, mastodon and myriad of other bands that are considered the underground scene?
We are supposed to praise lack of originality? Sad thing is their one song has been sold for use in tons of really bad commercials right out the gate. It took LZ decades to allow for their music to even be used in films.
Nothing says "rock and roll" like writing tv jingles. Before you say "oh well thats part of the industry".
Its not a band has to decide on their own to allow the use of their music for commercial purposes. I guess when you rip off your sound you dont have any emotional attachment to the music.

these kids deserve all our support. they are today's best of classic rock. How many of us thought this sound would ever come back other than fucking cover bands? these kids are writing their own music, they brought back the music we all loved so much and wished would come back. THEY answered our wishes. Yes he might sound like Robert Plant (not his fault, its his voice) , but they have their own feel to it. These kids CANNOT disappear, today's generation NEEDS this band. Like the 70s needed Led Zepplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and so many bands, and the 80s needed GNR, Aerosmith (Yes I know they're technically a 70s band but they were huge influence on the 80s), Metallica, and their great bands, and the 90s needed Nirvana, Korn, Deftones, Tool, Sound Garden, and many of thier bands. This generation needs to feel the power of GOOD rock and roll. They need to feel the emotion and power of REAL music, not mumbling idiots with laptops. This sound, this music, it changed the world. Literally. It was used as a political platform. Praise these kids, bless them, and hope they go on for generations to hear like our favourites.

    *Lyrics*
In an age of darkness light appears
And it wards away the ancient fears
March to the anthem of the heart
To a brand new day, a brand new start
To wonder lands of ice and snow
In the desert heat where nothing grows
A tree of life in rain and sun
To reach the sky it’s just begun
And as we came into the clear
To find ourselves where we are here
Who is the wiser to help us steer
And will we know when the end is near
    Beauty lives in every soul
The more you love the more you know
They pass the torch and it still burns
Once children then it’s now our turn
And as we came into the clear
To find ourselves where we are here
Who is the wiser to help us steer
And will we know when the end is near
And as we came into the clear
To find ourselves where we are here
Who is the wiser to help us steer
And will we know when the end is near

This is my favorite song of theirs but they're all fantastic. Easily best band in 20 years. Just found out that Danny's mom went to my high school in Michigan. This track is like a breath of fresh air! I have recently received both 2 copies of the new 2018 CD album plus 2 copies of From The Fires 2017 EP for a total of 18 magnificent recorded tracks. I'm 66 years old and still enjoying rock music like this. I was actually a fan of Led Zeppelin in January 1969 after hearing "How Many More Times?" on the radio which was the month after I purchased The Beatles "White Album" in December 1968. GVF invokes those old times for me as well as pointing to a bright new future. Thank you Greta Van Fleet for bringing joy with your musical talents.

I think what the critics are missing about these guys are that 1) they actually have great new hooks that are based on the classics and 2) while sounding a lot like Zeppelin they have this optimistic and wholesome attitude that is more like Rush - and like this song, sometimes they sound a lot like Rush too. Honestly, I'm enjoying the lack of cynicism in their music and every song has a fresh slant to it of some kind. Also, they're incredibly young and have a lot of time to grow. I love it!

This particular song reminds me of Yes, vocally and musically, if anything. and yet it's unique. I think the reason people spend so much time comparing GVF to other bands is that they haven't heard anything like this in too long. This is a great band, and anyone lost in pegging them as a Zeppelin clone hasn't heard all their songs and has also lost sight 'beauty where we find it'. Any band that comes out is always compared to what came before, so if anything it's a compliment. GVF now join the ranks and the only thing left is the test of longevity.

@@melindaharbison8355 OK 1 year later: As fun as these guys were at first, I lost steam when 1) they screwed up so bad on Saturday Night live (seemingly unable to hit his singing mark) and 2) They seem to embrace the fact that their singer tends to dress like a cross between RuPaul and bad lampshade, and follow in suit halfway, for whatever reason.... I would be interested to see what their latest sounds like if they have put out a new album, but if one is going to play rock, the should actually look like rock and not a flaming clothes store. To each their own, but that sure as hell is not mine.... Thats all I'm saying

This makes me wish it was a summer night, in the back of a pick up on the river bank. Cooler of beer, good friends, and some good weed. Lol thanks for the good vibes GVF 😍

I know most people are joking about them "copying" Zeppelin. But honestly by you saying they are copying them is almost the best compliment because obviously their music is original. So you are saying "hey you have amazing music and a great voice".
