This is not an album. This is an Experience. A Journey. A Connection.
Yes 🙌👏
🥰
I've never heard anything like it. I just sat in my room with my jaw dropped after I listened to it.
@@RemedyUnderTheSun it's amazing, right?
Brilliant reply. It's an AMAZING Experience, Journey, and Connection. Been looping for 3 days, catching different nuances every time. I'm an old-school rocker turned new-school rocker.
My son is 16; I am 50. He had no idea we could share cool music together until I introduced him to Greta Van Fleet. Now he’s sharing Skillet with me, I’m sharing Rush with him, and we’re both featuring GVF on our playlists. Zeppelin roots acknowledged, embraced and built upon with unparalleled new energy. Rock on, lads! Love to see you live one day.
Got you beat---I am 60. Led Zeppelin at San Diego Sports Arena in 1977 was my very first concert!
And that is a huge compliment! Comparing anyone to Led Zep is an awesome comparison!
Wait til you introduce yourself and your son to some old rock and roll ...treat yourself to some “Armageddon”. Some very interesting musicians that you would never played ....together,,..circa 1975....ck out buzzard and silver tightrope...but the whole album is 👍
Russ, may you are your son rock hard together, sir! Appreciate your post so much!
My 4 year old cousin absolutely loves GVF. Her favorite is Brave New World. 💗💗
I’ve seen them perform this live . How can this album and single alone not be at number 1 on the rock charts . This album is brilliant
This is by far my fave gvf song. That being said I hate videos and this one is ugh.
The traditional music industry would destroy their individuality and creativity, Man! They had to forge their own way on their own terms! ❤
It debuted #1 in the rock charts....and #5 on billboards, #1 vinyl albums ...
We had seen them in Atlanta back in November. They were unbelievable. I believe that Jake is Jimmy Page's son. These guys got hit by the Hammer of the god's.
@@johnnyrod9262 thanks for telling us that... twice.
This is one of those songs that just keeps getting better and better with every listen.
You are so damn right!
💯
At 72 I may be their oldest fan. Got hooked on Highway Tune and they sound better than ever. What an amazing band.
57 here!
Has a 70's feel to it. Best new song I've heard in a decade or two
Close behind at 63 1/2...went to my 1st rock concert the summer of 64.

PEACE 72. I'm 69 and this is devine!
Cinematographer: Ok so how many metaphors do you want?
Greta Van Fleet: Yes
pls explain all the metaphors i'm too dumb to understand them
@@Karnalaura my guess is that the statue represents the earth as it was beautiful until the age of man destroyed it relentlessly, while it showed things like oil rigs which destroy the earth.
Laura Karna to me a big one is hyper analysing the statue, something that’s considered to be priceless and perfect. It’s about how the “age of machine” takes humans, the planet, animals etc and scrutinises them to the point that it’s so disturbing in any other situation, like this.
I interpret the statue as something that represents organic talent, not created with the use of technology. Sculpted from an image from someone's mind, with just their hands and simple tools. Destroying it is a metaphor for us destroying our minds by becoming hypnotized by the technology that we have all become so reliant on. Some will never take the time to set their phones aside and explore their own ideologies and creativity and will never know what they are capable of without those things. The same metaphor can be applied to the Earth and it's environment and ecosystems. We are taking our pure and organic planet and ruining it with machinery.
@@ShelbyIvey13 great perspective, I couldn't agree more.
Every great rock band EVER has started out sounding like their influences. They build on that and form their own sound. This new album I feel is just a taste of what these boys can do. The new album is sooooo much different. They are building and forming their own sound and it's fucking badass
exactly, led zeppelin was based entirely off 30-40s blues (Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, LEADBELLY???), and called themselves a blues band until they found their sound as a rock band for gods sake. People saying GVF are bad for sounding like Led know nothing about led zeppelin when they were starting out.
People don't give artists time to find their sound in this period of music and expect bands to immediately be original and stand out (which is an absolute pipe dream), and it's why promising bands die out before they can bloom.
Ugh! YES!!!!
😂 great rock band?

I can't believe anyone who appreciates rock would hate on this group.
Love the band, but this is meh.
It lacks anything that can reasonably be called a riff, a hook or a tune.
@@baldieman64 I hope you are joking otherwise our hearing systems seem to be vastly different.
@@janbethien4372 Can you hum it?
@@baldieman64 you must be joking
Yes you can and even if you couldn't how would that support your argument?
@@janbethien4372 Look, I like the band, but this is tuneless crap, and at best fit for filler on an album.
If you want evidence in support of my subjective opinion, how about the fact that this track was released as a single in 2020 and failed to chart anywhere on the planet?
Haters can say whatever they want, these guys are making freaking good rock and roll music...
All you have to do is go look on their pages for the music choices they listen to and you will understand why! Todays second rate music.
Just hear it on the radio and I'm so pleased its a new release. I hope we are on the verge of great rock n roll revival
Just wish they didn't dress and sound so much from that area. Have your OWN look and sound. They played on TV and this sounds almost like "NO Quarter" by Led Zeppelin. Hmmmmmm.
I LOVE THIS BAND!!!!
It is really good stuff. I don't see why people hate. I hear alot of Shannon Hoon in the singer and that's tops in my book....
Jake shines in this song. This on tour will be his song to solo for 3 mins straight, calling it.
Edit: fellow fans are right. 3 mins? Child’s play. It’ll be more in the 5-20 mins range! :)
My only beef with this song is that the solo wasn’t longer, should have ended the song with a blazing one, similar to comfortably numb.
I instantly loved that song.. except from the solo which I didn't like at all. This song has the perfect backing track for an emotional and powerful solo. Emotionless bends and tedious note picking. I am not hating, I actually do love and admire GVF. I was just let down by that solo :(
@@xristoskou6357 dig where you are coming from, respect that! And hey who knows... maybe redemption on its way in the form of a live performance from GVF, eh?! :)
@@gracehall6145 I feel like live this song is 15 minutes. Just recorded it can't afford it without losing interest

These kids are extremely talented. No matter the influence, they are making very listenable music. They will breakout with something that will blow our collective minds soon.
I think they are as well. I'm sure like everyone else Highway Tune brought me to the dance. Outstanding song. Then I heard Black Smoke Rising and liked that. Then I heard Built By Nations. Really liked that one too. But then I heard this masterpiece and was blown away. Such a beautiful piece of work. Then I pulled out my credit card and bought their EP and their album. This song is just brilliant - on more than one level. Lyrically, musically and visually it is astounding. A band who writes important and beautiful music that grabs the soul. I no longer think anyone should say one single word about another band. Greta Van Fleet is THE band that makes this music. And I love the music so very much. I saw these guys last night five minutes from my home in Spring Hill Tennessee. Had never really listened to much of them before, but they were absolutely amazing. A true class act. Super professional and spot on. Iron Maiden, Rush, Gojira level performance. 10 out of 10.
This music video amplifies the message of the song so much. I like the concept of the chipping away at the statue, which is a symbol for humanity. The video looks like it takes place in a future where “machine” has taken over. I like how you were observing the statue as if you were trying to figure out what it was only to ultimately “destroy” it in pursuit of answers. The irony is that humanity isn’t something that can be excavated, measured, or cultivated in a lab. Humanity is around us and within us. The scary thing is that it is also something that can be lost among us.
Exactly! It such a powerful message showing everything that’s happens right now. Transhumanism included.

I just saw the lead singer, screaming his lungs out on TikTok. I’ve now been on RUclips for about four hours listening to this band honest to God. I think I’m in love with them 👊🏻😎
That's how I started about a week ago.

This is the sound of a young band maturing and finding there own voice.
Witnessing it is terrific
Not really it’s still 100% zepp ripoff

Un commento in italiano per questa band straordinaria: la loro musica e' la colonna sonora con la quale entreranno nella leggenda...a passo di rock!!! 😎👍🇮🇹

This is fab one of their best songs and with great lyrics!!! :-)
God please please watch over these young great musicians and keep them around for a long time!
YES!!! I was thinking the exact same thing.
Yes, hopefully they start at least wearing helmets on their bikes
Poetic and mesmerizing. I felt this message on a deeper level than I was expecting. In all honesty, I’m at a loss for words... astonished really
This song is absolutley amazing! This Song isn't about the music itself, it's about what is going wrong in our world. These guys have put so many metaphors in their video and their lyrics. I hope, that this song goes viral and shows people the problems, that our modern society creates - corruption - oil and gas fragging companys destroying the planet - lobbyism. A change is needed in all our minds and Greta van Fleet has put out a friendly reminder to all of us! Keep on rocking Greta!
Live are so much better. I have been in Bologna concert. Grateful for this art.❤
Just got back from seeing them in El Paso. My wife is a die hard fan, and I gotta admit she's absolutely right about how good they are. We listened to them on the drive back, and this song played while we drove through the mountains of New Mexico. It was very badass, with the music and the visuals all together.
I'm 57 so I grew up with Rock, Classic Rock etc. Just started listening to these guys and they are a breath of fresh air. Talent all around. Seem like good young men. The vocals are insane and an instrument by themselves.
Kudos to their parents and managers. Keep it coming.
A breath of fresh air. You right! We didn't hear a good rock for long time. Here in Italy now we have our fist good rock band. I know, it's not Greta but is quite good for Italy: ruclips.net/video/1OISmX4vOKA/видео.html
Rock is going straight back to the top with Greta Van Fleet, The L.A. Maybe, and The Dust Coda releasing the best albums of 2021!!
Here before the "I used to be a fan, now I'm a whole ass air conditioner" guy
I’m a commercial HVAC
What does this mean lol
Means he’s a bigger fan now.
Hahaha 😃
it's kinda poetic people criticizing them for sounding like other bands in a day and age where all the genres are saturated with the same sound but notice the content of their lyrics... you don't hear this stuff in rap, country, hip hop, or even the rock that's coming out they are addressing the real world issues and human experience the youth are suffering with and consoling us that they too feel what we are feeling...I can't relate with any of the music that's coming out these days but this here is absolute treasure for the free thinkers and peacekeepers who still stand as the last bastion of hope in such a corrupt and hateful world. it's deeper than just the sound of the voice and instruments and that's where you find the real art.
❤ Amen to that!
On their way to becoming timeless legends
The camera work and the imagery here are so haunting and heavy-handed--and they progress so slowly that the existential dread builds at a pace you don't notice until it's ready to burst. Perfect fit for the heavy vibes of this song. 5 stars.
Hello how are you doing today...😀
"Feeling
Oh god, the feeling
We need some healing
We need some healing
God knows if you feel defeated
You have been cheated
You have retreated"
I love these lyrics so much!!!
That is not a one-off. Josh hits that high note live, seemingly effortlessly.
i’m confident GVF will push rock and roll back into the mainstream again
Honestly yeah, but it's good for them to stay underground as well, cuz they'll make bangers like these. I'm afraid that by going mainstream they'll be pressured into making generic music.
this is a dream. not in a world of brainwashed mainstreamshit. But enjoy this music , they became better and better
I would bet on Royal Blood instead
@@tricko8000 gvf is more well known tho

This song goes under the skin so deep that it seems to stay there for good...
GRETA VAN FLEET, MAKE ROCK N ROLL GREAT AGAIN
This is such a timely song, given the year we have all experienced, and what is to come. Greta Van Fleet put a great deal of thought and time into this masterpiece. I was blown away by how haunting the lyrics were, with the audio version. Once I saw the video, I was in tears. They are making references to so many issues or potential issues. I had to watch a few times to catch them all and there still might be a few I will see later on. I'm an empath, so I really 'feel' the emotion put into this song. I went to bed thinking about the video and dreamed about different parts of it as well as the lyrics that went along with it. Everyone has their own take of what they see here. While we cannot erase history or things we have already done, we can all try to do better going forward. If we don't, we will end up with nothing. Whether it be a statue, an animal, or the environment, we have no right to destroy it. It is important to be mindful that we are ALL hurting in some way, so be kind. These young men are exceptionally talented artists and visionaries. They managed to create a powerful song and pair it with a video that was both sci-fi like and beautiful at the same time. I'm grateful to Greta Van Fleet for giving us good music again, which had been missing for so many years. They have their own sound and perfect it more with each song. They are actually too good for today's music industry. Josh, Jake, Sam and Danny are old souls from another time, but are meant to be here now.
Blessings ~
That was written so beautifully, said everything I was thinking.
@@Stiegosaurus I have saved more lives than anyone will ever know. I work 7 days a week, making a difference regarding these issues. I wrote a book over 10 years ago, about these issues. I have an active website and blog (over 13 years old) and have done public speaking and radio shows, about these issues. You are telling me to WAKE UP to issues that I am already well aware of and have asked people for some time, to please be mindful of. That is preaching to the choir. Have YOU been living under a rock? I simply gave a positive comment on a band whose music and lyrics I truly enjoy. Esp. given their age and passion about various issues. I even wrote a blog about GVF over a year ago (also on the site) because I could see they were out to save a dying music industry and spread some positivity along the way. They are so far ahead of their time. As many people in their age range are not as focused on what is happening in the world. Maybe they will inspire others to get involved and to care more? They choose to address current issues through their music. Just like I choose to address issues in my own way. If everyone made this kind of effort, we could all move mountains. So, I would say to take your own advice about waking up and have a Merry Christmas.
