    I have been trying to learn how to crochet for YEARS and never got the hang of it. I'm a knitter so I would just give up and go back to my knitting. Thanks to your video I now have a beautiful granny square! Thank you so much!

    I started learning Crochet about a week ago. There were no problem with foundation chains. But single crochet was such a pain for me because one stich was always missing and I couldn't find out what I did wrong. I searched for a lot of tutorial videos but no luck. But yes, this video just helped me a lot and I'm now able to find out the problem especially because of the thing you said at 7:20. So thank you so so much. 😭🫶🏻

    I’ve just started to learn with you and after a few days of getting extremely frustrated trying to hold my yarn, I have now finally found my way so am starting over! I struggle a bit with my coordination so I’m super happy I’ve finally found a way to hold it so I can continue!! And I’m also using a larger hook than I should just for the minute so I can see some progress and today it’s really helped 😅. Onwards and forwards, practice, practice and more practice 😊

    As I said before, I never really learnt how to crochet I just saw it and decided to try to do it and I was able to amaze myself over the years. I saw this as an opportunity to finally figure out what I was doing wrong over the years and how to do it right and I am enjoying it. Thank you so much. I am looking forward to being able to make myself a sweater.

    I have been crocheting for about 52 years, but I think that you can always learn something new. As such, I signed up and have been viewing your videos. And with this video, it hit me that I am always starting my first row on the starting chain by picking up TWO loops of the chain, not just ONE, as you do! Boiyoiyoing! That makes sense to me now. I always was thinking your starting row would be more sturdy with two, but it can also affect the finished project, like a blanket, when you do your border! Thanks for turning on my light bulb!!

    • @SigoniMacaroni
      @SigoniMacaroni  3 года назад

      Actually there are 3 different ways you can work into the chain and it all depends on personal preference, so you weren’t doing it wrong 😊 I talk all about the differences here if you want to watch! ruclips.net/video/Q04ftafZmo4/видео.html

    Thank you for these videos. I was able to do the single crochet stitch in one day.
    As I started I was focusing too much on the thread tension and literally cried. But then I decided to worry about that later and let the thread loose and focused only on mastering the stitch and my swatch came out beautiful. Thank you.

    Thumbs up, I wish I had you for my instructors in some of my college courses. I want to thank you because you truly are amazing, What to do and how to do it is your specialty. You find ways to explain what is taking place in crocheting. Your instructions are more than 1, 2, 3. I am only in lesson 4. Got a ways to go. Will be practicing that chain the rest of the evening. You are great at inspiring me to learn and you have my back in helping me through my frustrations. I just want you to know you are amazing in all you do for us. I thank you for that. Well, I better get back to my chaining or I will never catch up to you

      Sometimes taking a step away for awhile then when you feel inspired come back and try it again. Take step away for a year or whatever you deem long enough then come back and try again. Maybe it will work for you. This is from someone who’s awful at knots and weaving or knitting.

      There isn’t really a right side or a wrong side because it looks the same on both sides. The only time that really matters is if the sides look different or if you have to end on a certain row depending on the pattern you’re working on.

    Sigoni, my swatch is not flat. It's completely curled. I don't think I crocheted it too tight, but did I? Is that why it isn't flat like yours?

    • @SigoniMacaroni
      @SigoniMacaroni  3 года назад +2

      It could be a couple things. If it’s really curled at the ends then it sounds like you may have been crocheting too tight. You can try going up a hook size to see if that helps. But I will say that the single crochet is a tight stitch so it’s normal for it to curl a little bit. The only reason why my swatch isn’t curling is because it’s a really great yarn 😆 But really, if you don’t feel like you crocheted tight then it might just be the natural curl that happens with the single crochet stitch

    • @nancycv11
      @nancycv11 3 года назад

    • @SigoniMacaroni

      One of my favorite gadgets is a neck light. I use one when I crochet at night but it might help if you need more light. I talk about it in this video if you want to know what it looks like: ruclips.net/video/aIpuN4N_6T4/видео.html
      You could also try using a bulky weight yarn instead. It will say weight 5 on the yarn label, then use the recommended hook size for the yarn you choose, which will also be on the yarn label.

    I got my new hooks, and the tips seem so much smaller than the ones I've been using previously. They won't grab the complete strand of yarn I'm using.

    Im confused with the row counting all the lines look the same to me except the chain line.
    can you pls explain it further or dumb it down for me 😅

    Mm, on the second row I definitely had 11 stitches. Wonder why that was. Have tried it about 4 times and each time my counting seems to be unsure and first it was 9 stitches, then 10 and now on second row its 11. not sure I am counting correctly. but will carry on.

      Don't worry too much about the stitch count right now. Remember we're just practicing the stitch for now and then we'll learn more about counting in Lesson 6 😊

    It is difficult as a beginner because i dont know where I'm supposed to hold

  • @kevinervin3924

    Do I have to use tension because none of them work for me

    • @SigoniMacaroni
      @SigoniMacaroni  Год назад

      Tension isn't really something you can do without. Tension is the way you hold and pull your yarn as you crochet. There are lots of different ways to hold your yarn. You just have to find the most comfortable position for you

    at 7:51 things get muddled. you say to ‘continue single crocheting’ but for someone who has just started, i have no idea what to do past the rows you already did. how do you continue single crocheting when there’s more than the original loops you taught on? just stick it through the single v it’s next to?🥴

    • @SigoniMacaroni
      @SigoniMacaroni  3 года назад

      I see what you mean. I’m not sure what I did with the editing there 😕 Sorry about that. But you will just repeat row 2. Chain 1, turn your work and follow what I showed for Row 2
