I used to work at the Lake Louise hotel and someone woke me up at 2:00 AMstaff house and told me to look outside. The northern lights were going crazy and I was alone sitting at the edge of the lake until dawn watching them. It was like a concert light show with the colored lights moving very fast and the air seemed to be crackling. Glad that I didn't meet a bear too. A wonderful memory.
@@mariamarano6729 I worked there back in 1980 and the hotel was not open in the winter at all. I saw the northern lights in the late spring and the ground was bare. So due to global warming and covid I expect that you would have to call the hotel and ask when the lake freezes enough to skate on safely. I would not want to crash through the ice in the middle of that lake . Even in the summer it is very cold and you would die in minutes in the deep part. It is very beautiful though.
Back in 94, 6 of us rode our mtn bikes out to Minewanka in late March. It was starting to thaw and the cracking noises were incredible. Rode from one side to the other. Freaked out a bit.
Wow! This would be absolutely amazing to see the blue ice like that! Most of the videos are Snow covered but beautiful either way! I really want to go!!!
I haven't seen Ice like that since I was a kid. It would have been hard not to see how far and fast you could go. Thanks for posting. I'd like to see you put some climbing stuff back up if possible.

Ahh so nice. I was there in the second week of Dec 2019. I'm aiming for this condition where there is no snow, clean ice, and you can skate as far as you can. When exactly was this if you don't mind me asking?
Hey Mike, Awesome conditions! Wish I'd have known, I would absolutely make the 3hr drive to skate that, wow! What is the name of, and where would I get one of those tools you used to check the ice thickness?
Actually I spent about 20 minutes on this. I just didn't want to totally waste the footage from the other day. I will be pimping a new series called Dirtbag Diner where I review movies, slag climbers, give beta on routes. Wait for it won't be long
Hi mike!! I really love this video, amazing filmmaking skill and the heaven scenery. ❤️ May I know what day and time did u record this wonderful tape? I’m so mesmerized
@@mikebarter387 Oh, did it happen during this video? Was he alright? Phung chi thanh this was early November. First week I think. The lake had only frozen over two days earlier. This footage was shot over two days. I don’t ever recall it being this incredible before. Been in the area well over 30 years.
wow...great music video...I'd use in a lounge...or bar...dancing with adults.... Lyrics go really great with very young kids playing on the ice, with their families....:(
gorgeous...please do a version without music and just hearing the sound of the blades on the ice...would love that! :)
Yes. The lame music is just a big distraction. Natural sound would be so much more engaging.
Yes yes. Sometimes less is more.
Exactly what i thought. Many greetings from Germany : - ) Michi

That looks so beautiful, and lots of fun

Hockey player here. Missing skating on frozen lakes. Down in NJ. it almost never gets cold enough. I've only skated on a pond once.
It's amazing that you guys can do skating on the Lake Louise.. very interesting... Want to do it.. enjoyed your video
Would be a dream to skate on that perfectly smooth, huge lake.
Such a fantastic edit! Love the opening shot with the figures in the distance. Shows the scale of skating in the mountains.
Oh wow just so amazing we had our share here in the Neterlands but on the canals..no background of the mountains like this!
OMG that looks so cool!! It's like the lake that leads to the countryside.
What an amazing place to skate. We need something like that in Holland!!
Wow ! This is awesome! Havent tried this yet but i want to experience this someday. Heheh. You captured the beauty of lake louise also.

Incredible footage and movement. Well done.
I wish I can skate, and have someone to skate with on such beautiful blue-green ice.
I don't even understand how this perfection happened. No snow on the ice? Perfect blue, sheet of glass? No wind? How?
Awesome how is it completley clear of snow ? Unreal.
Flash freeze, probably like a couple -20 degree nights froze it without any snow
Nicely done 👏👏👏
I can see it was one of those 'perfect' days, that you will hope you will never forget.
