The fun part is that you can use all of those interfaces at the same time. Just add more and choose different ports for them, set different credentials and off you go. One interface for you to control everything from remote, one for every band member to control their headphone mix, a simple one for when you're using the phone, the really fancy one for when you're using the iPad. All you need to do is choose the different port and there you go with a different interface without having to adjust anything on your mastering machine. Hang up a sign with the band monitoring interface inside the practice room and make the band aware of it. That's a damn great feature.
briliant
For those of us with less-than-ideal recording setups (in my case, a bunch of gear just thrown wherever it fits in a cramped bedroom), this feature makes a massive difference. Nice, clearly explained tutorial for setting it up 👍
Been using Reaper for a couple of years and never bothered doing this till now. IT JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER!!! Thanks for the vid, man!
Reaper is my god. It never ceases to surprise me with incredible features!
I just want to personally thank you for this. This blew my mind
Brilliant clear and concise. I was looking for a half hour to try and work out how to do this... thanks.
Thanks for the heads up. This is super helpful. Now I can record my vocals without having to turn around every time I make a mistake.
Switch from Studio One to REAPER... just what to say: the developers behind REAPER are pure geniuses
Incredible. Reaper never fails to impress. I'll never have to do another headphone monitor mix again!
New to Reaper after 30 years of Cubase, got bored of waiting for them to support the M1, so much about Reaper has blown my mind. I have paid for apps for Cubase that took half a day to get working and then were absolute bobbins. As each day goes by I understand more the evangelism that most Reaper users have always displayed.
Same story here! FL Studio user though. Reaper is just so fast, stable and customizable
Very useful and well explained. Still works in the most recent version at time of this comment. Thanks!
Thanks bro! Have been in a new house and have more space between pc and drums. This makes life so much easier.
Adam, I had no idea this existed. Thanks!! Looks really useful.
That is huge for drummers!
Very Cool! Thanks for turning me on to this function.
So great! I've been wanting this type of convenience when recording for a long time! Thanks for the vid~
this is literally exactly what i was looking for.... thank you. Reaper is so great
Amazing feature!
Was considering getting one of those control surfaces with the mechanical moving faders so I could make adjustments while relaxing at the other side of the room; i.e. a different perspective. This seems to have all that functionality but not limited by things like fader banks etc. and has more visual feedback.
Very cool. Thank you. I am running Reaper on a Windows 10 PC and I had to set the Network Profile to "Private" then the remote showed up on my Samsung Galaxy tablet. It took me a second to figure that out. Very Helpful video, I like you vibe and style. I will check out your Patreon.
Hi!, this is amazing! Once again, REAPER rocks!
Wow, there is so much stuff in Reaper, very impressive. Thanks for your video!
This is great ! ! thank you so much. Very useful feature, looking forward to setting up the lyrics function.
Duuuude!!! I just dicovered this video... I had no idea! Thank you very much!
Amazing, I just set this up in moments, wow, and thank you. Looks very similar to the Soundcraft UI24r interface, web server, which has been around in various industries for 20 years or more.
Absolutely brilliant! This is just what I've been hoping for, it will make things so much easier.
Wow!! this is awesome! Thank you for the explanation!
Adam, you are a proper legend!!
OMFG . GAME CHANGER!!
Ok. This is beyond amazing...
You are the best man, i need this too many time ago!
If I could like this more than once I would. Great video.
Thanks man!
Reaper is the best!
working by myself gets frustrating at times.... getting up and over to the workstation over and over for takes and such...thx for the info.
Remotes are great if your studio is all in one room and you want to get further away from the live instruments.
True- also if your WiFi reaches, it’s good for as many rooms as you have! You may need to get WiFi extenders but that’s very much up to your setup and needs
Awesome video man
Very useful tip. I’m no Computer techie however l can only get it to work if the PC Firewall is turned off which clearly isn’t a good idea. Any suggestions ?
22:40 Can you do a video explaining reastream over IP. I looked at your OBS video but it didn't really explain the over IP
dude, for real, thank you!
Thank you so much for this.
QUESTION: What would you change in your template to use this new tool???
Best monitor size for mixing
Does it control playback via regions? Or is there a way to set it up to playback by regions
Genius!
You just saved me £100's. Thank you. Has much changed with this in 4 years?
I think it’s the same, good to know!
Nice!!!!
Can you do this so that you can see one plugin to be controlled on its own?
For example have neural dsp archtype nolly on a guitar track that the guitarist can tweak his tone on his laptop while I control all other plugins from my laptop?
Also is there a way to use it as a second screen probably the same as above to load say izotope insight on its own screens I can glance over at it?
Can u do a video about reastream... I need it to work on my Android
All, it turns out Windows 10 will block most ports by default (well for me it did anyway), so for anyone in the same situation who cant get the remoting to work, i eventually discovered that i had to open both inbound and outbound firewall ports for the port i was using on my Windows 10 Reaper machine. Once i did that, it worked. If anyone needs instructions on how to do that, let me know
I'd appreciate that info. I'm trying to set this up on Windows 11 computer/iPhone 12, but get message Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding. Would appreciate any info on how to get around this. Thanks!
@@mikebressler9041 Heres what i did Mike. I cant seem to add a picture here, but basically run the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security, then add one rule for UDP and one for TCP (both ANY) for both Inbound and Outbound. The app is C:\Program Files\Reaper (x64)
eaper.exe. You can specify the actual port you are using (instead of ANY) if you want to tighten it up a bit. Let me know how it goes.. Can send you a pic of my config if u tell me where to send it to...
thank you!
New to me,too! Thanks, Adam. Is there a way to get track display in horizontal on the Pro or another tablet, the way Duet Display does?
Came here wanting to put the staff view on my phone, this is sort of the opposite of what I want lol!
Hi Adam, best get everyone to remove their SIMs before handing over this option. Otherwise you will be compromising your studio security. Potentially every phone with a data connection is a stepping stone (or hopping pole) to your Wifi. Better yet, get a pile of SIM-less second hand phones just for this purpose. Judging by your magical array of tablets for your Reaper mixing deck that shouldn't be an issue. Best of luck and thanks for enlightening us with this great tool. (Yes I do use an old phone for this in the live room) This is so useful it should go into the reaper tutorial group :)
Good call Marty, but I got this covered- the studio PC and the iPads etc are on a separate VPN, segregated from the rest of the network and it’s all fully locked down with no access apart from the specific needed ports. I also do IT work / server maintenance so I worry about security! I’m not sure how to make a video about such a tricky subject but I might follow this up
A serious recording musician would kill the phone in a studio anyway :) No distractions..
Very good point!
That is brilliant :)
How do I get the audio recording from my iPhone (recording video), while it’s plugged into my audio interface (Behringer) via an lightning - -3.5mm adapter from phone - using an aux cable with other end connected to a headphone splitter into my interface. Or is there a right way of doing it that I don’t know?
Its official. Reaper is better than protools
Can this be used to control VSTi's and other plugin's?
In my case they ask for a User namne as well. What is that?
That’s so you can stop unauthorized people just trying to log in. It’s simple but it’s a layer of protection
So are you listening through headphones connected to your audio interface? Or through phone? A little confused about latency effect because you said the phone has a pulse for metronome. Wondering how everything syncs.
The phone is not connected to audio, the pulse was visual on the phone and out of sync
This in incredible. Q?: Is there anyway to integrate ez drummer or a drum library to enable you to create beats via Android phone or is it only in a software version?
This a wonderful tool
Can i control this with a games console hooked up to the big screen
Crazy idea, but I don’t see why not -
Just use the web browser on the console on the same network
Hi, I am really new at this and trying to get it to work. Every time I press apply settings in the control surface setting window, it says: reaper web interface error. Error listening on port, maybe the port is in use. I don’t know what that means. I would really appreciate if you could explain that to me and what I have to change to make this work. Thanks
ports need to be configured correctly. he walks through this in the beginning.
as it is a web interface your port would be 80 for web access ..there is also a port for https (secure) = 8080
you will need to set thoss ports in your browser.
thanks!
I'm trying to find a way to start and stop recording via voice command through Alexa. Any thoughts on that?
25:00 RE: the "more me" option. Can anyone tell me why that when my band is using this Reaper tends to crash and automatically shut down after a while. Anyone had that happen? Any fixes?
Do you need to have actual internet access for this, or will this work over a LAN?
Lan is fine
anyone knows how to do this without wifi? for live use
Pull up the remote webpage on a laptop connected by Ethernet. Or look for maybe an android tablet with a usb-Ethernet dongle?
Hi Adam I just tried this and I did not get the log in page on my tablet and my tablet is on the same network as my computer? Please help me
Gamechanger
Hi!! Need to record output of midi controller Keyboard - plugged into ipad - playing audio kit synth one - into Reaper on my PC .
Woooooooooooow its amazing life saverrrrr
I've got one question: I want to use this WEBGUI to remotely start different backing/clicktracks - what would be the best way to use this? Create regions and a custom html with just labeled song buttons? Is there any code reference for starting playback at a specific region and stop afterwards?
I’m not sure about stopping afterwards, but I know you can skip between regions no problem without anything custom. Personally doing this I just leave a good 5 minutes silence after each song so I’ve got plenty of time to stop it when needed
@@adamsteelproducer Thanks! I got it to the point where I can jump to a specific region and start playback with the push of a button in the webgui but of course it just doesn't stop at the end of the region. I think I need SWS to achieve this. Would you be interested in the code for this custom page?
Anyone: ?
Is it possible to record and produce music from a android cell phone ? I just wanted to know if it's possible in Reaper and have the possibility to produce drums as well (ezdrummer) ? Please leave comments below thank you: )
Can you download interfaces from reaper forum? I'd like one where there's a bunch of MIDI CC sliders.
I'm sure you can, ask away. I'm not part of the forum, but ask and there will be something for you i'm sure
so, how do we get the mixer into our tablet view and not just the transport controls?
Use an iPad in landscape mode I guess?
@@adamsteelproducer I used a tablet in landscape but all I get is the transport and the tracks. I guess it's not possible to dock the mixer in RC mode?
Anyhow, great video as always. I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to do these world class tutorials on Reaper!
I tried it but it says that my device is not connected to the local network. Actually it is. I have my computer connected via ethernet cable to the router. What is the problem? Any solutions?
Usually firewalls and port numbers
@@adamsteelproducer And how can i solve this?
Depends on your router and computers, honestly just google unblocking ports for your router and OS, the info’s all out there
it would be nice if it had METERS!!!
I’m sure there are options for that, it would take up quite a bit of network bandwidth so it’s not there by default
+1 . Didn't find any option for that...
the user name and pw box keeps popping up blank when I put my details in,also tried using rc.reaper.fm and the same blank user name and pw box appeared,I am using the same internet connection for my pc and ipad.
Help!
sounds like wrong credentials
may the smartphone can reproduce the audio from reaper?
This way, i wont need a bigger headphone cable...
Thanks, from Brasil!
Sorry no, it’s only a remote control
Só, lets buy a New big cable for tje headphones haha
Greettings from quarentine in Brasil rsrsrs
Thank you
Its great when it works but I spend most the time refreshing it..relaunching the App...pressing the buttons with no response. Frustrating as hell...whats the issue?
Sounds like a network issue to me, maybe your Wi-fi is dropping out. I used to get that with TouchOSC if I was too far from the router
Hop Pole Studios the DAW IS about 25 feet from the router. The IPhone is about 20’.
Could i use this to do multiple monitor mixing in the studio??
I guess so? Only if you’re changing levels, it doesn’t have full access to GUIs for plugins as far as I know
Thanks for the reply, in the meanwhile i did try it out and yes it works a treat ! It's the "MOREME HTML " interface option. I created a couple of dummy tracks in an old session. i channeled some Sends to both tracks and assigned them two seperate and different hardware outputs that point to a Headphone amp with 4 stereo inputs. This is a great option in the studio while recording and not only. I could see this as a great rehersal tool and also for live gigs to give control to every musician for individual levels . Again thank you for opening my eyes on this great feature.
It would be great if this could also be a standalone Android app...
Why though? Why make it locked down to one plaform? Just make a link to the web page, it works on any device so there's no reason at all to make it Android specific
I would like one thing cleared up. My setup is in a wifi deadzone, can they still connect with eachother? I have a long usb cable is that can be used.
Am I in the right place this doesn’t look like overwatch?
😱😱
Can't get it to work :(
Check your router’s settings, or maybe your firewall. It might be blocking the ports
@@adamsteelproducer ok. Thanks a lot man!
dude really useful video, but please check your emails lol
"Don't need it to have internet, you just need it to be connected to a network." That does not make any sense bud
Yes it does. Local networks and internet are two completely separate things, usually brought together by NAT and IP translation.
Some engineers don’t like having their mix computers hooked up to the internet, but by using an access point this can work as a closed system.
Boom.
@@adamsteelproducer Right on, makes sense now
2 minutes of nothing and then
Story of your life huh?
