For Thiem, he needs to attack Zverev's FH relentlessly, wait for a short ball, then hit to Zverev's BH, and wait for an easy volley winner. Thiem also needs to get as many first serve returns as possible.

One more thing is that many of the spectators wanted Novak to lose rather than Thiem Winning (butthurt fedal fans may be) but once Nole got the break in 5th set they all left the court and thiem was left with his real fans. Ofcourse it plays an important role in crunch matches.
Zverev is moving much better now but Thiem's backhand has gotten stronger too. The Austrian is the slight favourite in the USO Final but anything can happen.
